Barbarian Paladins, if I remember right Mith Marr liked the barbarian race because of their justice and stuff.
Giving Iksars Slam
Mana regen added to Mage Armor spells, +1 for every new tier, stacks with clarity/bard song/glades
Adding health regen to druid/ranger hp/ac buffs. +1 for wood, +2 for rock, etc
I cant think of anything else right now.

So much fail ITT.
Server's fine.
If anything, removing the annoying leash or restricting it to ToV/etc would be good.
And of course resetting ST and make it non-wakeable. 99% of people want it, the vocal 1% owners of masks, robes and sods don't (inb4 some cringer chimes in saying they don't want it yet doesn't have a mask bla bla bla).
If you want non-classic EQ, try the 100+ servers in the server selection list, and see why nobody plays on them. (Spoiler: because they are not classic.)

Some of the ideas below are facetious/aren't all mine, but others are more classic-inspired additions not dissimilar to the animation fix that eventually was implemented for the bard epic. Not exactly what I would want changed on p99, but how I was wanting EQ to evolve after Velious (with technical limitations and balancing issues aside).
Just as clerics and paladins need +charisma gear for their lull line of spells, the opposite has become true for necromancers and shadow knights. Negative charisma now works as a plus for fear spells.
Alcohol tolerance is now a strategically useful skill for melee classes, with the consumption of alcohol (liquid courage) making players more resistant to dragon roar and other forms of fear. However, considering a mob while intoxicated, it may appear to be lower in level than it actually is...
Paladin Guild Masters now offer a counterspell that causes the spell damage of a single mob to be dealt against its own self for however much damage its target would have taken; if the counterspell is resisted, paladin takes that incoming spell damage instead of the original target. Also offered, a debuff that halves the number of buffs a mob can AE dispel.
Ice water now causes cold damage to the same degree that lava causes fire damage (the more resists you have on, the less damage you will take over time). Low level barbarians will come to appreciate the Halas raft more...
Barrel Roll is now a continuous loop depending on distance. The higher a point jumped from, the more flips male dwarves will do.
Classes with safefall now remain in ducked position for a short duration if they have taken a significant amount of damage from the fall. You have twisted your ankle! Argh, bone spurs!
The green fog in the Karanas now causes negative disease resists. Brother Nallin expects an increase in donations.
Bard NPCs will now utilize all of the songs and abilities a player character would. Their songs are restricted to a maximum of 25 players. Example: Highsun will relocate players to the zone-in loc or, if they died, where they were last resurrected. The 6-Minute Bard Diet could use some editing.
Bards can only sing for so long before they lose their voice. Length of time depends on skill level. No more AFK mana.
Stringed instruments cannot be played if a bard is wearing plate or chainmail gauntlets, only leather and cloth or bare hands will work.
Dragging corpses now uses up your stamina bar, more so if you're a smaller race dragging a larger race. A gnome might not be able to drag the body of a fallen ogre groupmate, not without max strength. However, two gnomes together should have the combined strength required.
Non-norent crossbows/bolts now drop from coldain archers and other Velious mobs. Shooting a bolt has a small chance effect of 0 second stun, given the impact of the projectile. While crossbows have higher damage than ordinary bows, their overall damage is stymied by a much longer delay and shorter range. Designed for tank classes involved in close-quarters pulling. Crossbow damage is based off of strength rather than dexterity.
Weighted Velium Crossbow
Dmg/Dly: 40/200 Range: 75 Wt: 15
Velium Bolt Dmg: 15 Range: 10 Wt: 2
Race: ALL
Class: WAR PAL SHD
Rogues now have a "Loaded Dice" discipline which can only be used once per EQ day, giving a slight advantage to /random. While the discipline is grayed out, rogues have a slight disadvantage on randoms.
Mobs without pants can no longer be pickpocketed. Mobs without flesh can no longer be backstabbed.
Lockpicks are now stackable (20) but have a chance of breaking. Additionally, the breaking of a lockpick can remove stealth and alert nearby mobs of your presence.
Whips have been given textures and colors that better reflect their name. Dagarn's Tail (squamous and red). Braid of Golden Hair (yellow with high elven hair tie at its grip). Fellspine's Tail (striped pale orange). Cat O' Nine Tails (shortened, with eight additional protrusions). Et cetera.
Zlandicar's Heart now has the appearance of a pulsating red orb when equipped.
Instead of a wooden club, Blackjack and Thorny Blackjack now have the appearance of an ordinary mace, tinted black.
Removing one's armor now increases taunt. If a tank loses aggro and taunt fails, he/she can remove their greaves or breastplate (but low HP aggro is still greater than low AC aggro). However, the loss of stats and armor class opens the player character up to more incoming damage. Also, take care when being rezzed/on corpse runs. Nudity is now an affront to/attractor of creatures in Norrath, depending on their intelligence. You may even find that merchants, other than the greedy ones, won't sell to you if you are naked. "Nudists like you disgust me, now get out!"
"Hello, Soandso. Can I interest you in A Cloth Shirt?"
Lower charisma influences one's overall taunt. Higher charisma influences faction hits from quest turn-ins.
Damage shields have become more detrimental against those using weaponless attacks (punch/kick).
Cacti (succulents) now spawn with permanent damage shields.
Forest and jungle zones now have falling leaves instead of snow/rainfall. Volcanic zones, falling ash.
West Karana's field recently has been overtaken by "crows" that carry various shiny materials, most of which are useful for tinkerers and blacksmiths. Really they are just miniature aviaks, but the farmers and scarecrows still aggro them all the same.
Rogue mobs now have the ability to pickpocket small amounts of coin off of you. Pullers beware...or rejoice at not having to destroy coppers and silvers while repeatedly asking that one groupmate to turn off autosplit.
Rogue mobs can now drag the corpses of their kin, potentially to be rezzed. It would be wise to not leave corpses to rot. Higher level rogue mobs can even drag the corpses of player characters, deeper into a dungeon. Did you get a /loc off before you died?
Poisons are now stackable (20). Certain poisons can be planted on unsuspecting (nonaggro'd) mobs, causing them to be mezzed, lulled, slowed, or tashed, depending on the potion. The more potent the concoction, the greater chance the mob will be alerted to your presence.
There are now more female mobs populating Norrath. Ratwomen. Mudwomen. Desert madwomen. Woman eating creepers. Female centaurs. There aren't any Brothers of Erollisi, but mermen have begun to populate the Ocean of Tears (and other zones). Wetness is the essence of beauty!
Kerrans have recently been added as a playable race, starting out on the continent of Erudin. Players can choose from four classes: Monk, shaman, druid, and rogue. Kerrans enter Norrath with 100 fishing skill that requires no pole. <Kittens Who Say Meow> emits a low rumble and roars like a lion!
Iksars no longer have earring slots (since they don't have earlobes). Instead, they now have a single nose-ring slot. Staff is considering the addition of nipple piercing slots for all other races except iksars (0 nips) and kerrans (8 nip slot Simba = imba).
Arrows that have hit their target can now be looted from the corpse. Arrows that miss their target are forever lost.
All primitive and bird-type mobs now have fletching mats added to their loot tables, making certain outdoor zones/camps more viable for bow wielders. Additionally, arrowheads can now be foraged in certain zones.
Various poisons can also be applied to arrows by a rogue of appropriate skill level. Ideal for soloing rangers and mid-level warriors desperate to build aggro on an incoming mob.
Enchanters can now imbue regular/silk/aloe (nonsummoned) bandages and mummy wrappings, similar to how they imbue gems. Using vials of viscous mana as the reagent, the effect will cause each bind wound to restore more hit points (or alternatively, mana points, depending on which spell the enchanter casts).
The moment that fire elemental pets become submerged in water they transform into air elementals. Similarly, water elementals submerged in lava will undergo the same transformation.
Similar to shaman's bear form illusion, druid and ranger wolf form now varies in appearance based on race. Wood elves and halflings are black wolves. Humans are arctic wolves. Half elves are coyotes.
Iksar necromancer/shadow knight pets are no longer humanoid in appearance but true iksar skeletons. However, the derisive cackle still remains. Similarly, iksars in skeletal form now appear as iksar skeletons.
Pets now have a maximum distance in which they can be ordered to attack a mob that isn't targeted by the player character. The higher the level your pet is, the greater distance it will attempt to do your bidding.
Mayong Mistmoore has returned to his castle with a vengeance (having a trivial loot code or level limit similar to Lady Vox/Lord Nagafen). It is said that he spawns down in the basement of his castle at his coffin for meditation, and seldom paths to the tower overlooking the pond on his estate. Groups wanting easy, semi-afk xp should travel elsewhere if safety is their primary concern.
Mayong now offers an epic-long quest for player characters to become a vampire at the cost of a faction hit with most every good-aligned institution in Norrath (worse than iksars). Only certain classes/races can receive the quest. To increase faction with Mayong, a player must turn in four Essence Emeralds and then die to him as penance and proof of one's immortality / masochistic leanings. Among the spells you gain access to, one of the most powerful allows you to steal the very breath of others who, if they do not have Enduring Breath, will be deprived of oxygen and suffocate (taking the same damage one would when drowning). All forms of resurrection on your corpse now require one coffin reagent. And, similar to Levant, certain spells cannot be cast during the day. However, you are now more disarming overall, having a higher skillcap with disarm, being able to knock weapons out of an opponent's hand from greater distances. Once a player has turned into a vampire, he or she must have blood somewhere in their inventory; if not, their mana and hp will cease regenerating. It can be any type, even Royal Kromrif blood. Stacks of blood take the place of regular food and water, as neither will be consumed and any stat increases from them will not be applied. As it is considered both food and water, blood is consumed more rapidly, at a rate similar to the consumption of water in desert zones.
Monks now have the ability to uppercut, what is essentially a weaker version of bash interrupt, on the same cooldown as flying kick. The animation is that of the rude gesture emote.
Spam clickers be advised: Thanks to the God of Mischief, Bristlebane Fizzlethrope, clickies now have a small % chance of backfiring. Jboots/SoW sword can snare for the opposite percentage that they would increase movement speed. Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring can decrease the ATK it would normally increase. Eyepatch of the Plunderer can slow your atk speed by 20%. PoM flowers can decrease resists. CoS can cause temporary blindness. Et cetera.
Other facial features that were previously restricted to merchants/guild NPCs are now available at character creation. You must choose, but choose wisely.
Rice is now edible! It is also a ranged item (making in-game weddings that much more awkward for officiating guides).
Emerald oranges no longer have the appearance of grapes, instead they now have the color of an emerald and the shape of a pearl.
According to locals, Megaladon has been spotted in and around the underwater cave in Lake Rathetear.
The Arena now has illusion NPCs encircling the outer (nonpvp) wall of the zone. Hail the NPC and request to take on their appearance. It should go without saying but all illusions fade upon zoning/dying.
Race now has an effect on how many bags you can hold at once. The larger races can hold the most and the smaller races can hold the least. Illusions and shrink spells/potions will have no effect on this.

They still exist in the default UI, and you can use the bank slots, but won't transfer to your toons. So probably not a lot of work to implement.
If I'm not mistaken, no lore item can be placed in shared bank slot, which most likely will still cause transfer issues and CSR burden.

TL;DR most of the thread... The Marr twins didn't just "like" Barbarians... they created them.
All humans are descended from barbarians, the "enlightened" barbarians left Everfrost to pursue warmer climates and knowledge and evolved into the humans of Antonica (Tunaria at the time)

You are mistaken. At no point did the Shared Bank ever prevent Lore items.
It is treated as it's own entity so you can't put multiple of the lore item in the bank and players with that lore item on their person or in their personal bank cannot withdraw a lore item from the Shared bank.
Shared bank is a nice solution to the transfer problem, so is boxing. Just flag special accounts that can only travel to NFP, EFP and EC and cannot gain levels beyond level 1. Doesn't impact game balance and people can transfer and sell while being off in Norrath doing other things.
Boxing isn't a nice solution to anything, sir.

shared bank/cash slots for transfers that deletes anything stored in it longer than 2 hours, green server/economy refresh to get rid of all the exploited plat/chardok toons, and PoP sans books with druid and wizard utility maintained. I also liked AAs. Or custom post-velious content in general that gave wizards/rangers/paladins/non-epic mages a LITTLE bit of love, root earring for mage. The wonder and hope for the next expansion is classic, seeing everyone gathered around the IC docks on velious release and going to the moon completely blind before the wikis and allas had the data, there are no more frontiers for better or worse.
Some sort of item sink that tribute functioned as, to remove plat/items from the economy for trivial rewards. And finally the Bazaar, the tunnel was fun for a few months but... I just don't bother now.

The Bazaar so I never have to sit in EC auctioning what I want to buy/sell for hours or days ever again.
No spell fizzles so that is one less thing to bother me.
Superior health regen so I don't have to sit, same with mana.
Easier quests with markers and exact information given so we can do away with any mystery because it doesn't exist in 2018 anyway.
All combat/spell casting actions are automatic, basically I log my toon on and it plays itself while I consume nacho cheese doritos and mtn dew.
Instant teleport to anywhere by any class.
Superior PVP while maintaining Superior PVE (that is automatic)
Characters start with 10k plat in the bank and 2k is added every few hours so I don't have to farm.
Netflix/Youtube window added to the ui.
Luclin superior character gwaphix and animations.
One zone where all new toons start and leveling to 20 takes like an hour. Do away with all other player cities.
A new ui meter to help me judge how good my min/maxing is.
Automatic henchmen that follow me around so I don't have to speak to others or have any sort of social skills.
No grind whatsoever. I want my MMO to be like a movie streamlined and more friendly to my stream audience that I never speak to or show my face. $$$$ dolla dolla bills yall.
No xp loss on death, instant rez with an xp bonus.. say 10%
One button to /ignore all other players and their chat.
Ability to sell any looted item from anywhere to anywhere at any time, also without talking to anyone. pfft, bazaar.. I have to go there.
No need for food or water, gets in the way of my automatic leveling.

Various zones from the Planes of Power expansion linked to various areas of the world in a "logical" order. As an example, the Planes of Disease is underneath the Temple of Bertoxxulous. The key to enter this plane is among the GMs that are found in that area and has an one time use among x players. Only good or neutral players are allowed to enter since this type of plane ~creates~ the evil in evil players. Perhaps allow the maximum level for a player to go to 65, but only these planar zones grant experience into this five extra levels. And as a twist, the equipment and powers gained only work in planar type zone and not in the current gaming zones (save for perhaps Air, Fear, and Hate).
Just a thought.

And thus, every end game player will be ogre or iksar bards followed up by names like Phat Lute, or Myusical Cloaca, and Das Beets. Probably more to think of but I am not very original when it comes to names and generally takes my days if not weeks to settle on something.
But that also can open up racial instruments, sure I can see a dwarf with a lute but cant imagine an ogre with a regular drum. Hell even a gnome with a flute is weird when they can probably tinker a one man band type of deal.

This exact question / suggestion was posed to Brad McQuaid, his answer was along the lines of you are correct but you could make that argument for a lot of classes and at some point they had to draw the line to keep some advantages / disadvantages to race/class choice.
I think he got it right, you see what happens when Halfling Rangers were allowed.
I always felt warriors should have been restricted to medium to larger races, never felt a gnome taking hits same as an ogre made sense from a roleplay perspective.

I don’t understand people who sit in EC all day. If an item is pretty cheap, 15-20 minutes at the beginning or end of a play session should be fine. If it’s high value, the EC forums are available to arrange a transaction. Or if you let people know you’re looking, you’ll often get additional eyes on it when something happens.

Game within a game. I have never gotten into money mongering in p99 -- not sure where to start.
But in vanilla I did and in WoW I did as well; can speak to WoW since it was more recent. There is a lot of fun in finding a solid way to produce repeatable income and then setting goals for yourself.
100k. 500k. 1 million. 5 million. etc.
And as you get more capital expanding into more markets. In WoW I figured out there was a huge opportunity to buy bind on equip 101 twink gear and resell it -- the supply of key items was always low and people generally got the gear as a random drop and had no idea of how inflated the value was. People would sell the gear for 20k and I could flip it for 40-50k -- even up to 100k+ if it had the right secondary stats. Making the next deal becomes addicting as everything else in the game.
I built up a ton of capital and then started resetting markets on raid consumables on server reset days. All the raiders would scramble to buy their potions etc Tuesday afternoon so I would buy out the entire market on Fri/Sat/Sunday and then reset the market on Tuesday at 2x the price. It is surprisingly fun to do.
As for sitting in EC -- you can set up GINA triggers for gear. When I want to buy or sell something I set up triggers to notify me if someone /auction spams for it. That way I can do other things on my computer and afk ec. There is a degree of fun in negotiating a deal -- but it is a lot more interesting when you are talking big ticket items. Trying to sell junk for 900p instead of 800p is a waste of time unless you are moving huge volume.

Remove Complete Heal.
Make bows for Rangers operate like normal 2h weapons.
Bring paladins/shadow-knights up to warrior tanking stats.
Give warriors a threat generating ability outside their other skills (scale threat generated with skill rating).
Modify how pet classes pets work, tone down how strong they are but make them scale with you in levels until your next pet spell level (in other words: your level 1 pet will be level 1 when you cast it at level 1, 2 at 2, but 4 at 5 as you've gained a new pet spell at level 4, and so on and so forth). Spamming pets until you get a proper one was annoying and pointless and it's silly that pets are either fantastic or completely useless.
Shared bank slots.
Maybe one day I'll stop being lazy and make my slightly different classic era server XD...

This is the single best explanation of tunnelquestimg I have personally seen. Thank you for the insight. Still not my thing - I like to accumulate plat so that I can get gear to play the game, not to accumulate plat for its own sake, but that doesn’t make that game any better or worse.
Thanks for the explanation

No problem - I honestly put my time auction house whoring right up there with my time raiding as far as "Fun" in wow.
Once it started clicking making money was SUPER addicting and really fun -- I can only imagine what wall street power brokers feel like in real life =) My pathetic mini version of the show Billions :p

A bank in west/east freeport and qeynos sewers. Duality cities always boggled me and only having the bank in the good parts.
And mages being able to summon shitty armor for pets. Recently I discovered the absolute joy of a pet in full cloth armor or bronze armor. while an amazing feeling watching your pet fuck up 3 mistmoore mobs with minimal healing because of a suit of bronze armor I cant justify the weight most of the time

There is a bank of sorts in the Qeynos Aqueducts, but iirc the banker is only available during the night hours.
Somewhat related to that, but more extreme: Separate bank vaults (each bank location only containing items placed there specifically) would be more immersive and allow for more storage, but it also would be a pain in the ass if you happen to forget where exactly you put what, especially for classes who can't port themselves. Having access to the same amount of coin from bank to bank makes sense, but not items.

Classes with safefall now remain in ducked position for a short duration if they have taken a significant amount of damage from the fall. You have twisted your ankle! Argh, bone spurs!
Dragging corpses now uses up your stamina bar, more so if you're a smaller race dragging a larger race. A gnome might not be able to drag the body of a fallen ogre groupmate, not without max strength. However, two gnomes together should have the combined strength required.
Higher level rogue mobs can even drag the corpses of player characters, deeper into a dungeon. Did you get a /loc off before you died?
Race now has an effect on how many bags you can hold at once. The larger races can hold the most and the smaller races can hold the least. Illusions and shrink spells/potions will have no effect on this.
Being a dwarf rogue in Seb, reading these makes my eye twitch.

Remove pet level variance. Just make it so you summon all pets at their max level.

Really the only thing I find super annoying would be summoned pet variance for MAG, NEC, ENC, SHM
Never really noticed it till was lvling my mage and got a green con pet like 10 times in a row

I like the idea of classic stamina... Gave us druids another spell to use.
On my server, Vazaelle, Extinguish Fatigue...aka a " zing " was never frowned upon.

Five classes got that spell. Acumen and bard stamina songs were good, kept the fight going strong.

Stamina bar is classic! Endurance bar is... non-classic.
Why is stamina not frequently discussed?
Has it been forgotten? It used to have a strong effect on daily gameplay.
-while swimming, you lost stamina
-swinging your weapons, you lost stamina based on their weight
-"zing" spells, invigor etc had a use
-having 100stamina was important, as it negated a minor stat/attack speed reduction
-jumping should consume like 10% of your bar with each jump
Run out of stamina? Not good.. you walk slower and can't jump.
This will become more relevant with Kunark weapons.. because they were heavy.
i.e. Wurmslayer's good stats and damage should be negated by the fact it weighs 15lbs.
Does anyone remember a good weapon weight ratio? What weapons could you swing and not have to worry about stamina? When did weight become a problem, 5lbs, 8lbs?
