I pasted in the new V4 files from the Getting Started page but am still getting the same error on my Vista system. My GF has an older XP system that is working fine with the new spell file but for some reason, I'm just getting nowhere with my comp.

Any thoughts? I've restarted the system and application multiple times along with copying and recopying the files.

It's because vista is gay and instead of overwriting the spell file that you need, it just renames it and puts it in the folder. Delete all the spell files from the download in EQ folder, and then put them back in.

Tried and still no luck. I just uninstalled and will try again from scratch.

Start Menu - Control Panel - User Accounts - Turn off User Account Control

Copy and paste with ease

For the love of Smedley, don't install in the program files folder!

Move it out to the root or a different drive already. Vista/7 protects those files with UAC and makes it hard to change them.

Stop with nonsensical dragging and dropping... use the installer in my signature. it will set it all up for you in a few clicks. Works perfectly on all Vista/7/XP etc etc...

I ran the installer but still have to have the User Account Control disabled for EQ to run correctly. Wierd.

It seems to me that you lack the ability to drag and drop a file into a folder and the ability to click copy and replace it.
