Tempest is recruiting! We are a new guild consisting of veteran players who enjoy competitive raiding. We will be continuously looking for fresh blood to build our forces. If you want to kill the highest end-game content on Project 1999 with low to moderate numbers, while also having a great time with pals, Tempest is the place for you!

Tempest currently:

⦁ Has some of the most experienced raiders on the server. Learn from the best!
⦁ After recruitment, you only need to maintain 15% attendance to secure the best loot in the game!

We knew our first week breaking into the scene was going to be an interesting endeavor. We fought hard and netted a few big wins.

After a long day hanging in the Temple, we ended up snagging Lord Feshlak with under 40.

Once we popped that cherry it was not long til we won a sweet Lady Nev! (Also with under 40 ;))

The next day we snagged a 28 man Zlexak kill... That translates into a really F'n long fight. Grats Unicity on a cool bracer for his monk!

To celebrate our first cycle, we roamed velious for the next few days snagging a few Vindis, saving our druid and wizard pals from Wuoshi, and bagging a Velk and Lord Bob.

This past Thursday our small crew teamed up with a few other small crews to make sure that the Avatar of War was eradicated. Fun times were had!

Had an amazing repop earlier this week. We may have had some deaths but every pull, every mob killed is a lesson learned for Tempest. We have an amazing mix of old school vets who can do this in their sleep and hungry new chars learning the next level raiding mechanics. Can't wait to keep growing with the squad and becoming more and more competitive everyday. Grats to all the amazing loot new players got.

Yeah, it's not surprising to me that Agnarr shone but briefly. It just doesn't take that long to get BIS on a character or two and then there isn't much point. Which is somehow the magic of P99: since it takes 200 warm-body raids to get a BIS item, it takes forever!

The A-Team is still the best P4P guild to ever grace this server. That's right Tempest, I said it. Is it trolling a guild thread if it's true??

And hi Redwiz, things are actually going pretty well here!

Anyway, the point I was trying to make was just it seems like people will still be tracking and batphoning in 2025. I'm not judging, but very surprised.

It's another successful week for <Tempest> killing many of P99's top mobs including: Vulak, Dozekar, King Tormax, AoW, Yeli, and Eashen to name a few. The loot gods smiled down upon us with excellent drops as well - double white scales on Gore stands out since she's been stingy lately.

Also, our mathematicians crunched the numbers and over this cycle we killed 13/19 ToV mobs!

It has been about three months since the birth of Tempest. Being born from the ashes of a titan, defining success was not an easy task.

Moving out from under the shadow of our predecessor required changes of mind, body, and spirit. It was a rocky road getting to where we stand today. The strength of those remaining stepped up and refused to give in to wallowing in self-pity and negative attitudes.

I am so proud of <Tempest>. The optimism of our team was a bright beam cutting through the darkness. We hurdled obstacles every day and when we face planted into the dirt, we banded together, picked each other up with smiles on our faces.

We gained many new friends on the road to today and, though sometimes chaotic, we have banded together and formed a true competitive force. We all agree that moving forward is the only option in order to learn, grow, and succeed.

This past cycle included a few guild firsts!

Guild first Dracoliche, Severilous, and Ring war! We also snagged tons of ToV dragons and an ultra sweet Lord Yelinak!

So Tempest got a bad pull and trained my group in City of Mist tonight. They logged in a cleric. Ran them over and got me a 96% res (i am the only one of the group that died). And October has been even better! <Tempest> is steadily gaining momentum. While the loot gods did not bless us with the best Doze loots, we ended up snagging some wild double loots off CT (Double Brain), KT (Double Boots), Nev (Double Cloak), Lady M (Double Shawl), and this weird looking Yelinak:

It may be safe to say we will never see good loot off those mobs for quite some time!

This past seven days has been some of the best at <Tempest>! Several ring wars, several wildly successful earthquakes including the most recent where we snagged both Doze and Vulak! (Grats AG on a very quick mobilization and kill on KT.)

The raid scene of P99 is slowly changing to some of the best it has seen in quite a while. There are more than just two options for seeing some of the highest content Everquest has to offer.

Back to back cycles getting Doze and Vulak feels good man. Add in regularly snagging several other ToV dragons plus a smattering of CT and KT and we're watching our members haul in those pixels.

In order to continue and expand our success we're looking for more good players!

Now, I'm not going to lie to you. We expect a lot more out of our applicants than just being 50+ and being able to respond "sure, why not" to unsolicited guild recruitment tells. Also, one of our guild leaders may have tourette's... You'll be the underdog, sometimes directly facing off against guilds fielding 125+ for raids. We won't get all the mobs and when we don't you won't be allowed to resort to petty raid interference tactics out of spite. We don't rnf so when we win you might be subject to opposing guilds trying to compensate for losses by trolling.

What you do get is to raid with a force of knowledgeable fun seeking players who enjoy killing end game content and benefit from an awesome member to loot ratio. Opportunities to be involved in learning new roles, seeing different parts of the game and maybe, just maybe... even being immortalized by by the opposition:

Great Divide, Velious, Norrath – November 12, 2018

Earlier today the Leaders of Tempest, Flickk and Bellringer, released an official statement regarding the now infamous “Batwing Gate”.

“Greetings Citizens of Norrath. During the evening hours of November 11, 2018 our organization was notified of a potential rogue agent operating outside the boundaries of the <Tempest> Rules and Regulations. The details that are currently available are as follows: The <Tempest> Enchanter known as “Bonniz” assaulted an <Aftermath> Warrior known as “Darkmannx” with a Batwing during the turn in phase of the Sentry Badain Ring War Event. Tempest takes this matter very seriously and is currently using all resources available to conduct a full investigation. Bonniz is being kept under guard until interrogations can be fully authorized.

We would like to make it abundantly clear that Tempest in no way approved any malicious actions towards Darkmannx or Aftermath and offer our sincerest apologies for any harm done. Furthermore, Tempest will also cease competing for Sentry Badain Ring War Events until December 1, 2018. After strenuous discussions with Lord Dain Frostreaver IV, Tempest members have also been required to perform 16 hours of mandatory trash and litter collection in the Great City of Thurgadin as a Community Service requirement.

We hope that Darkmannx along with several other Ring 10 hopefuls are able to conquer this event in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your time and consideration and may the blessing of Brell be upon us all.”

In addition, we at Tempest News were notified that new legislation is being discussed on enacting a ban on assault batwings. However an anonymous inside source is quoted saying that “batwings are an inalienable right that mustn’t be infringed upon”.

Just wanted to say thanks for the pixels thus far. Been a casual raider for about 2 years in Tempest and Awakened before that. Haven't ever had to compromise my lifestyle to fit around this game like I see so many other raiders do and I'm glad to be part of a guild that still conquers end game mobs quite easily without having to zerg things down. And huge respect for the raid rules. They're there for a reason and I'm glad Tempest doesn't try to compromise to get around them for some slight advantage.

Before I get into my post, I'd like to preface by saying that I'm a member of Tempest who is a bit of an idealist. I have my own unrealistic hopes for this server that are the primary reason I choose Tempest as my home. Tempest is the only weapon that I can wield to achieve this dream. The following are all my opinions only. Feel free to agree.

Tempest was founded with ambitious and perhaps arrogant goals: We're going to be the better players.

It was founded by and continues to be led by wolves. Veteran raiders who share similar goals as mine, but are very much better suited to dealing with the current raid scene. The end game is a vicious place and requires a particularly savage and objective adherence to beliefs to wade through. This makes them targets. This makes them difficult to deal with sometimes. And if you have even half an understanding of what they're doing, it makes them very respectable.

I say better and not best because we are fallible. We do make mistakes. We own up to our mistakes outright. We concede mobs when we've botched the pull. Our most criticized moments are often us seeking a change in the competition. If change isn't sought from a mistake, then it wasn't a mistake. We will always and immediately seek that change within. It is always disappointing when we expect others to do the same.

In a relatively closed and isolated community like P99, far too much toxicity and hatred exists in the end game content. Tempest holds ourselves to far higher standards than many other raiding guilds because we've realized long ago that adherence to the rules would make us unique. It would force us to become better players to overcome many inherent disadvantages that we place upon ourselves in order to achieve similar accomplishments as other guilds who would cheat, lie and manipulate not only the server staff but their companions in this community of ours.

This has made Tempest a target from day one. You see it in RNF threads. You see it just standing in ToV. We are a target because we are better. We are succeeding greatly at extreme disadvantages and players in other guilds can't stand it.

I don't take offense to their pathetic RNF posts and attempts to goad our players. It's a sign that we've bothered them. It's proof that they feel threatened, embarrassed and probably jealous of what Tempest has done and continues to do. The rhetoric remains inane chatter that shows the abysmal creativity and stooping moral standards of our competition.

They will continue to lurk in our guilds on "secret" alts. They will continue to log in on stolen guild character accounts to read guild chat. They will continue to eaves drop in our VOIP. They will continue to post screenshots from our Member perspective like it's some kind of holy grail for them.

And we will continue being better.

Really the worst part of it is that so few people seem to understand the server situation.

The community continues to swell numbers of toxic players. There exists an absolutely disgusting amount of players who have been outright banned from the game but are allowed to continue spitting vitriol on the forums with no other goal other than to disrupt and damage this community. That's what they want from this community, and that's what they're getting. It remains largely unchecked in game as well.

The only way forward is to become a better player. This server will only exist in a playable state if individual members come to this realization and seek to make it a better place. That's what Tempest is trying to do with the end game raid scene, and we are facing incredible opposition. These players who relish in the disorder they can sow and profit from never seem to miss a chance to take a stab at Tempests efforts in this regard.

Yes, we restrict our members from speaking in RNF because it really has no reason to exist. You should notice that it is the only place our competition feels safe enough to talk. It's the only place they tell their jokes and comfort eachother with rhetoric.

Here's the fun thing they don't even realize though: Tempest isn't engaging in these tit-for-tat squabbles. RNF continues to be a cesspool of community delinquents and players who are banned from the game. Some of these cancers we've been ridden of, others I hope the server staff will soon recognize for what they are and properly address.

So here's my invitation to the rest of the playerbase in helping acknowledge these people for what they are. Join us in our effort to make this server what it should be.

This server is too small and isolated to be pricks to eachother. The server has too much potential for us to hold long term grudges. It's time for people to grow up and be accountable. Be respectable.

A guild should not shirk from these rules for short-term gains. Competition is welcomed but no guild should ever have to cheat and lie to get nearly meaningless pixels. I'm very proud that Tempest exists fully above board in this regard. We do not ask ourselves "Did anyone see us breaking a rule?" We just ask "DID WE BREAK A RULE?" and that is the absolute decider of whether a mob is conceded. "What can we do better next time?" is always the next question. Ask any member whether these statements are true, I dare you. If this ever changes in Tempest, it will not be home to me any longer but I am confident that in those terms, my stay in Tempest is cemented.

I have never had a truly bad experience with the staff here. I've been in similar shoes before and even when I would disagree with their decision, I can understand how they might have arrived there. It is not an easy job. It takes a special dedication and caring for this server to do what they do week in and week out. I have a respect for them that I can't fully express in words.

I like to think I was a pretty average member of this community. I like to think that most people who play this server are typically quiet, good-natured members. They keep their heads down and play the game casually and try to not cause trouble. I bet most don't frequent the forums, only coming there for trading access and server chat threads, not drama. That's a pretty nice way to live.

That is normal. That is what things should be like.

That the direction of the server is no longer being coordinated solely by the staff, but rather by the misanthropic players among us who would rather revel in the smoldering chaos that they can create. So I can no longer be silent.

I'm glad that the cancers of this server are so outspoken. It makes them easy to identify. I've given a couple days for some of the things I've said to circulate and sink in... and many of those I speak of couldn't help themselves and did run rampant with some of my statements. I understand that some of them are very concerned by what my words might do for their own efforts here. Others simply don't understand what I'm doing yet or who I even am. Perhaps if they could actually log in they'd know. They'll have to wait to be told instead.

I refuse to let attacks on this community continue unmitigated and unchecked. We should be speaking out against their actions. It is not acceptable for us to allow them to determine what is normal for this community. It is self-defeating as they will cause irreversible and catastrophic damage before they are addressed in any meaningful fashion if we let them continue like this. This server will never be the same and it will likely never recover.

The stirrings my previous post caused were better than I expected. It's interesting that they cling to the same few stories about Tempest like children to their security blankets. They ran out of ammo so fast they started telling stories about how THEY screw up with implication it's Tempest's fault. Guess they forgot to put the spin on those ones. It is even through these reactions that I do not hold a grudge against them. I wish for them to see that a change is needed. I wish that they would make that decision themselves.

I once called many of them friend and it is not with anger or political ploy that I make these posts. I am deeply concerned for the continuation of this Project and I believe the only path it has without change is a lesser course than even today. I believe if that if the venom and hatred that exist on these forums and in-game between fellow enthusiasts of this EverQuest Project continues unabated, there will be devastating changes in the climate that I fear would not be survivable for most. It is not fair to the staff and players who have invested so much into this server.

This is a call to action. I am not asking the community to join us in Tempest (though you're welcome to). I am asking the many to speak out against the few. Form your own opinions from what evidence you can access and know that EVERYTHING posted in RNF is a weapon aimed against this server.

There is enough filth in the real world, let this be our escape from that.

It should be easy and quite revealing.

Watch what Tempest does. See who we are for yourself instead of being told by others what we are.

And try to remember: Finding answers is not the same thing as solving problems. We need to solve the problem.

It was a pretty solid cycle for Tempest in ToV which consisted of several notable dragons and some close calls on the ones that we all know matter most.

We'll get them next week though - we're hungry to lock down the best targets with the encounter-appropriate amount of people.
