You really should refer to the link posted above to the Wiki. It will give you some help around the basics and can help you choose which race and class to go with. You really want to ask people in the game for help. This is how I did it. I started with some initial research online (it was VERY limited at the time at launch). The rest was me asking people in /ooc and /shout for advice. The good news is that this server is full of very seasoned players who really like to help out.

well... I would say level up in the freeport area and get to oasis.

I prefer qeynos but on this server Oasis is a total hot spot with tons of people at all hours of the day. Great for getting help and seeing activity.

as much as I would prefer qeynos to be as lively, I was very pleased with my time in oasis. ample grouping, good soloing from dock, many buffers, helpful people, action packed.
