How feasible would it be to send an email to every registered user on the boards here telling them about kunark?

I remember vz/tz doing it once when they came back online. Could be a nicely worded teaser with a link back here

If its once for a major events (such as expansion) then i personally dont mind, and actually appreciate the update. When its an email every week begging me to come back, like a lot of MMOs send out, then it gets annoying.

I would think not many people would be pissed. 1 email is nothing. We are inundated with useless stuff via email. People on this server came here for a reason and being told about a major update seems completely reasonable...

Why would you want to do that? Are we hurting for more people? We're already going to have an influx of returning players as it is.

What's the point? All the people who know about the kunark release are the important ones, no need to bring some of the rage quitters back.

Yes, lets bring back all the people who planared up and punched out, and/or randomed against you for phat lewtz that haven't seen use since last summer that you could have been using all this time, so they can do it all again on you and disappear until Velious launches. Yes, indeed, lets bring those guys back! ;)

I considered sending an email. My only concern would be the amount of emails it would send out from the server, and the chance that it would trigger some spam detections on the major providers. We have 14,000 forum members, and then another 150,000 on EQEmulator if I felt like using that too.

Well, what implications would that (triggering some spam detections) have for Project1999??

Major providers might blacklist @project1999.org, so registration etc emails would get immediately kicked to spam.
