Have you been searching for a semi-casual raid guild akin to EQ live guilds from back in the day? Paradigm Shift is recruiting like-minded players to aid in our progression through Velious!

We enjoy slaying dragons as much as we do leveling alts, questing and exploring Norrath together. Relive the classic experience with helpful and friendly guildies.

Raids include weekly Halls of Testing and Plane of Sky, dragons such as Trakanon, Gorenaire and Veeshan’s Peak, and targets of opportunity in Temple of Veeshan and Velious. Team ups with partner guilds enable us to raid content such as Ring War, Avatar of War and Tunare as well!

We are currently recruiting competent players level 55 and above. While level 60 is the goal for every main, if you’re active and willing to learn, we will consider you even if a bit lower level. Our kills can be pretty tight and we rely on skill and attitude to succeed. Everyone’s contribution matters in PS!

We are active daily in US Eastern-Pacific prime time.

Additional things people should know that aren't shown in the video:

1. Our leadership has a much lower BMI than that of the competition.
2. We have the best cothbots in all of NToV. People are always talking about them.
3. Many former Asgardians call us home which is the key ingredient to a successful guild.
4. Our pixel sickness is still in the "manageable with therapy and medication" stage.

5. Our loot to toon ratio is pretty ++
6. We are selectively neck beardy. We will sock on occasion, but aren’t going to ask you to leave your kid at daycare for an extra hour for a fear golem.
7. Work smarter, not harder.
8. You will be expected to take on fun and different roles depending on where we are and what our class comp is. Don’t know what a train up is? We’ll teach you and expect you to be able to do one in a pinch.

During this tough repop window, PS coordinates with other guilds to give opportunities for players who play during non-prime time hours. With mobs still in window today, PS has (with E/O friends) taken out Nagafen, Silverwing, Druushk, Ikkatiar, Ltk, and Gore.

Our leadership keeps calm, cool, and collected (let’s just say you won’t hear anything more than a heavy sigh on a bad encounter, and no one is blowing up guild chat after a wipe) when things go wrong, so that we can evaluate and learn from our mistakes and let us get those sick low-numbers kills (you won’t see us kill Sev or Gozz with 70 or more). And when our numbers don’t support it, we call on our friends to cooperate and down tough mobs.

It’s been a blast coordinating with all of our friends in E/O, Kittens, and AG the last few weeks to do Tunare, Trak, Ring Wars, Zlandi, Klandi, Naggy, VP, ToV, and Fear. And we’re gonna keep doing it because that’s the way we want to play. We are a tight knit group of rule followers who are progressing on this server by being smart, getting good, and selectively socking. I've been unguilded for a while and looking to get back in the raid scene.

Best case scenario, I'm looking for a guild led by an obese autistic piece of shit who is constantly screaming at his members in coms and spamming competing guilds with CONCEDE and various hateful comments in tells and public channels.

Also, you should know I'm 100% about the pixels and am willing to be guilded with dozens of drug addicts, unemployables, and people who I otherwise detest in order to get them.

Sounds like PS might not be the right guild for me, but perhaps you can recommend another guild you think might be a good fit?

You’re right, PS might not be for you, but because PS is the only guild I’ve been a part of, I can’t direct you anywhere else. You’ll have to make this adventure on your own.

What I can tell you is that you shouldn’t think we aren’t competitive and are risk adverse. Just ask about how we stole a rotated Vulak by being prepared to insta-engage once we downed Koi, or tried a 24 man zone line pull of Vindi (that didn’t work, but MAN was it fun).

We also ask people to step on regularly because we need to. We don’t have 12 monks and necros who can secondary a pull in. We ask people to fill rolls and be impactful. While we didn’t down him last night, we had a 24 man Hoshkar gate on us in the wee hours that a couple of our members have described as their favorite attempt we’ve ever made.

My first time in a CH Chain was in a 23(?) man Telkenor which we successfully downed. Adrenaline is not having a CH macro set up and having to change pauses mid-fight when you’ve never done it before.

We play smart and target mobs we think we can get. Even with awful spawn times, we still managed to kill some great mobs this week.

We did also once sneak into kael and pull statue below AMs nose and kill it with 35ish people then call in others with 2mins to spare and down AoW. That was one of my favorite raid encounters I’ve been part of. Been playing EQ for good 18yrs on and off and PS has been one of my favorite guilds ever.

I know this thread is mostly about recruitment and accomplishments, but I wanted to put this out there for all of our members too.

It seems that of late some of us have progressed to a mindset reminiscent of an atmosphere that is both fun and sane. As such, I would like to take a quick moment to remind everyone of how Paradigm Shift works.

In Paradigm Shift we have one guild leader that takes input from the officers and the entire membership. His name is Ar(something) (Arthion, Arcler, Arsonya, Arvinda…). His responsibility is to deal with making sure we have fun. Sometimes that includes things that aren’t as much fun, like raid disputes, staff relationships, relationships with other guilds, loot, and player disputes, but he does it because he wants to make sure we have fun.

We currently have the following officers: Pyrrhica, Rhovanion, Jigabyte, Runyan, Ruiken, Maevis, and Baylan. Our officers are there because they fill a role that our guild needs – whether its raid leadership, recruitment, or just handling the many different personalities we have in PS, they bear the burden of taking care of you guys and making sure the guild is good to go on game day. Our officers are meant to listened to and made fun of… CAMP IS CLEAR… WHAT IS RUNYAN DOING? Our officers are NOT responsible for anything else. I hope you all notice that our officers are all gainfully employed, so cannot lead raids at all hours of the day. To make sure everyone can have fun, we make use of our good relationships with other guilds to team up when we have less leadership available.

The flesh and meat of Paradigm Shift is you. The members. The most important asset we have is our friendships with one another. You have the hardest job of all – making sure you are having fun. Your only responsibility is to enjoy your time in EQ. You are not responsible for dealing with petitionquest, dealing with other guilds, or handling the inevitable crap that comes up. Your only responsibility is to do whatever you want to help us succeed.

Our leadership expects to hear from you if things are going poorly. We want your input on decisions we make and what we can do to have more fun. We have certain people who are a constant barrage of tells and input – and it’s awesome. Expressing your opinion publicly often results in a lot of useful conversation and debate – and we would rather hear about it than let bad feelings fester.

Expressing your opinion publicly is an important part of being your own person, and we will encourage you to do so – though sometimes we might ask to get the dragon dead first.

You should understand the decisions your Officer corps makes. And we do our best to be transparent. If you don’t understand a decision – please ask, and we will do our best to offer our explanation and rationale on why we made a certain decision. Sometimes it might get heated, and we’ll argue, but we promise – that’s part of a healthy guild. What we need more of is people that are willing to step up and take action when the time is right.

Please understand we try to make the best decision for the guild in every circumstance – whether it’s conceding a raid target (Sorry AM/TP! I promise we didn’t meant to train Vyemm), deciding to team up, or making target decisions.

Paradigm Shift is changing its loot system in just a few short days, and we wanted to encourage anyone who has ever considered PS but said “man, I just can’t do LC” to think about it again.

PS prides itself on taking on some of the hardest and most challenging content in the game. Of being ready to go after and do the hardest pulls. Of taking the opportunity to team up and down new encounters. This is a guild that actively opposes becoming a zerg force, that loves putting together low numbers kills (27 for Feshlak, 19 man Vindis, 12 man Xygoz!) and doing it with its friends. Just ask our friends in Europa, Omni, Kittens, and AEGIS how we handle things.

Not only that, but we don’t take p99 too seriously. You won’t hear people getting yelled at or berated in TS. People are free to ask questions (and disagree!). We just ask that people show up, learn, and get better.

I joined p99 less than a year ago. Paradigm Shift has given me all the tools I need to understand and work through encounters. I’m regularly asked to put together and organize parts of the raid, and when you run a tight knit crew like we do, we need EVERYONE to step up. So - this will be the guild for you if you want to learn how to maximize your class and truly understand an encounter and do things the right way.

We succeeded to kill dragons in a very competitive, 300+ person Temple of Veeshan tonight. But, more importantly, we spent the night having fun together!

Paradigm Shift is changing its loot system in just a few short days, and we wanted to encourage anyone who has ever considered PS but said “man, I just can’t do LC” to think about it again.

PS prides itself on taking on some of the hardest and most challenging content in the game. Of being ready to go after and do the hardest pulls. Of taking the opportunity to team up and down new encounters. This is a guild that actively opposes becoming a zerg force, that loves putting together low numbers kills (27 for Feshlak, 19 man Vindis, 12 man Xygoz!) and doing it with its friends. Just ask our friends in Europa, Omni, Kittens, and AEGIS how we handle things.

Not only that, but we don’t take p99 too seriously. You won’t hear people getting yelled at or berated in TS. People are free to ask questions (and disagree!). We just ask that people show up, learn, and get better.

I joined p99 less than a year ago. Paradigm Shift has given me all the tools I need to understand and work through encounters. I’m regularly asked to put together and organize parts of the raid, and when you run a tight knit crew like we do, we need EVERYONE to step up. The first weekend of DKP is in the books and, miraculously, DKP is happening and we’re still downing mobs. This weekend we had a blast downing some of our old favorites (Vindi, Velk), doing a ST Priceless crawl with our Euromni friends, HoTing (wow the loot was bad but we had fun), and knocking out Sky in near record time (2 hours! AND ANOTHER MONK HASTE BELT COMPLETED).

What can I say? Another great cycle for Paradiggum. We picked up FTE on a competitive Vyemm, then brought it in clean and whipped him, downed Cekenar no problem, and took advantage of everyone being in fear to KO Eashen. MAN that pull happens fast.

You'll get plenty of items to upgrade your character here, but if you want the absolute best gear possible in as fast a time as possible (so you can say you beat the game and move on), then we're not the right guild for you (there's several guilds who will be more than welcome to offer you graphs and spreadsheets of how fast you'll get your stuff!)

But, it's a time-locked, content-frozen server - what's the rush? Enjoy the journey! We go after mobs big and small, work with other guilds in an inclusive, friendly fashion but most importantly, we enjoy the game throughout. In Paradigm Shift, your raid/guild leader is never going to yell at you because you made a mistake - though be aware your mistake might become a guild meme that we'll all laugh at together (is that mob up? is it RUNYAN CONFIRMED?)

Thanks for the kind words Monrezz. We do like to keep our pulls lively in HoT, it keeps me from AFKing on a cleric.

We are very proud of the culture we have created - one that encourages guildies to help guildies, to compete hard when it makes sense, and to not take this game TOO seriously.

Some of my absolute favorite kills involve doing something a little sketchy or crazy. My first time playing a cleric in a chain was a 23(?) man Telkenor. I didn’t even have hotkeys set up and was changing it mid-fight.

I was also there for a 19 man Vindi where enchanter pet DPS was king.

I’ve full cleared VP (killing PD after she Ch’s is an endurance test!) and seen us beat every guild on the server in a COTH race (WTB Pearl, anyone?), and I’ve watched us pick up and bring in live (and competitive) pulls of pretty much every NToV mob. We have the infrastructure to make it happen too - and we’re probably the only guild other than AM and TP that can say that.

We have a late night crew that is QB’d by Pyxiss, a member, with a bunch of people from a smattering of different guilds, that likes to do absolutely insane things in Hate/Fear/DN.

In 6 months I’ve gone from a total raiding noob to an expected contributor that is regularly asked to set up, tag, FTE, COTH, and goalie.

So - join PS, and you can get in on the ground floor of a fresh DKP system and play with a selectively neckbeardy group of folks that’s focused on doing content on our terms.

It has been a month since the conversion to DKP, and we are certainly enjoying it. This past month we've taken down our fair share of dragons/giants without staring at walls for prolonged periods of time. We've also been able to knock out quite a few epics which I'm glad to see our members holding now. Not a bad cycle. Did a little ToV socking. Batphoned a DAGNER pop. Nabbed a LOADED golem, draco, and CT. Then finished off the night with a smooth as silk kill of Aary. Really helpful to set up a pull and get that thing slowed right off the bat.

PS isn’t bashful or afraid of going toe to toe with AM or TP in NToV - though we do pick our spots. You won’t see us at the line every week - but you will see us compete on our terms.

Big thanks to our euromni friends for all the team ups recently. We really enjoy working with all of you - and I know I’m personally looking forward to another trip to PoG soon.

If only we had some kind of way to bind our sight onto mobs so we see what they are doing. Maybe give that spell to enchanters since they aren’t busy doing anything else.

I've been a member of for 2-3 months now and have nothing but good things to say about PS. Below was my rationale for joining and my experience so far.

1. As a former EQ player I did some raid content, mostly in PoP. I wanted to see to dragons and giants.

2. I wanted to be somewhere that was actively working on the most difficult content. I didn't want to be bard #8 where there was no motivation or opportunity to learn the content and make a contribution. I wanted to be part of a team that beats guilds who takes the top end content for granted.

3. I have a competitive job and a family. I dont always have long windows to sock a mob for hours and hours. I will sock when I can, but its not realistic for me to sock all weekend, etc.


My experience:

The leadership group is fantastic, they communicate well about the schedule so I can plan properly, policies (not that there too many!), and core values (RL first, but grow your beard and get your socks ready when you can).

The members are friendly and have made a big time investment setting up the infrastructure needed to compete on contested pulls. They will help you killing your epic merbs and exp groups are plentiful.

TLDR - be part of a team that earns its kills, has strong leadership and clearly articulated (positive) values. You will get uber pixels and your contribution matters.

Incredible cycle folks. We won and lost some mobs, and out bag was pretty full at the end of the week. Grats to everyone in the guild on CT, SW, Hosh, Nexona, and Dag this weekend, not to mention a warrior completing a sky haste belt and a veteran monk finally getting his brass knuckles.

PS competes on its terms. We pick and choose our opportunities to allow our members to experience and do end game content without socking 16 hour windows or responding to 4 am batphones. We prioritize our mains getting gear over alts, too, which is why we had a necro staff go for 1 dkp today - we only had one main that wanted it.
