Tale of the Drusella poachers with happy ending

funny/epic "fight" story on blue with a happy ending in response to https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298674. its long, emotional, and deserves a thread, fraps at the end, enjoy

few months back Drusella was missing for a long time. got tipped off from an xp'er in HS w a /pet attack. appears shes being killed on the dot each spawn for weeks, then the poachers promptly camp out. I had to surprise these mysterious ppl, who are they? the look on their faces when they log in on the TOD to see the camp actually cleared, and they're prize dieing, i imagined.

few days later, i go into the camp early solo, to clear, get some xp, and more legitimately contest/claim the camp rather than just logging in first sitting at the door and claiming the camp, that way in the event that whoever this mysterious entity who had her on lock down didn't understand p99 etiquette, they would be more understanding. I was in for a surprise

Turns out <Modwai> leader Quidello and his officer Haderak have had her on lockdown for a long time now. wasnt expecting what happens next. a near attempt at a KS! until yours truely lawyered them down. what happend next was a battle of the ages, one for the record books. enjoy

after clearing the camp, and maintaining an active non-afk presence for over 20 minutes, both Quidello and Haderak log in outside her door.

after i clear the camp Quidello and Haderak move into the camp to sit on drusellas spawn point, Quidello summons an Animation. the situation is escalating, their intentions are clear - KS in cold blood.

I move toward them to ask wtf and agro the back hallway pather - a helot skeleton, and cc it in the middle of the camp. Quidello drops his animation and charms the pather, then moves back, cc's it, then camps it off at the kill spot. Drusella spawns.

what ensues is an epic duel of the fates! i end the fight with 46% hp, 5% mana, and my pet at 1% hp! couldnt have been more of a nail biter!

im delighted that you asked, absolutely love discussing nitty gritty enc stuff :)

1 fetter is situational and didnt need to be memed during this unique contested boss prep. altho i parked the pet with it after an aoe tash to keep him back there w/o refreshing entrance on him to save mana, cause hes lower lvl and i could most likely get max duration out of fetter. I had to use entrance on the elemental bone because he was lvl 54, (couldnt be charmed otherwise would have his dual weilding arse against drus, instead of the spermy) therefore fetter would have been unreliable

2 any mob in the range of aoe tash would agro anyway in east unless they were calm and/or blurred which is a unique situation. aoe tash has a +1 more -mr point, and not having it up will get you killed when navigating east and very seldomly south.

ill give u an example: you get a max charm duration in east that excedes tash's duration. tash fades on your pet. you get an untimely charm break that coincides with an untashed add. you could go right into stun and get double resists on your hasted pet and the un tashed mob and die instantly, because the trash in east is somtimes 53-54 and hightly resistant. everything needs to be tashed, hitting yourself with it is the tradeoff

this "array" of spells you see in the video minus the cooldown cancel for slot one is the result of preventing all the random weird scenarios that get you killed in east. not having aoe tash up at all times in the event you will get unwanted/unexpected has killed me more times then not having fetter up because of chain stun resists on multiples mobs be it a bad pull or crit lull failure (you dont have time to individualy tash multiple lvl 52-54 trash mobs then go into a stun)

3 Drus was ToT'd in the video tho not immediatly on the cooldown. nerves perhaps? somtimes i will tot and seive a mob all the way down depending on whats going on. you can entrance drusella cause shes 55 then sap her all the way down. you cant do that too the undertaker lord or emp however with entrance's lvl 55 cap.

4 im assuming you mean ones "style" to be what array of spells they have out at any given time. dont pigeon hole yourself into thinking you need x spell up at all times because it all depends on what content your doing and/or if your prepping for a boss or in a situation where your not expecting random adds. each and every spell is a swap slot and enc is very flexible. if im going to be critical, Tecmos is an OG, but clicking his spell gems and not utilizing spell gem #1 for the global cancel is more of an actual gameplay "style", rather than what particular array of spells somone has out at any given time.

Your timestamps and storyline flow confused me (like when you show 5 golem deaths and say the camp was cleared, except that her room has 5 mobs that spawn in it and 1 that paths through it and your kill timers were spread out enough that you would have had respawns anyways, etc.), so I gave up. Not sure if I'm dumb or if you're giving us less than the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Edit - skimmed the rest. It's amazing how people have nooooo clue what the rules for camps are yet on here, or perhaps they do know and just prefer to ignore them in hopes of getting away with something I guess.

Smart man, you read the logs correctly. there were respawns while waiting for her rough ToD, the charm was the back left static across from her spawn, and the doorway pather was uncharmable lvl 54 mana battery. also the back hallway pather was brought into the mix, and we had repops during the fight! one of the things that made battle such a nail biter. so in the spirit of the rules ide confidently consider the camp cleared, broken, and my presence very active, but the lawyering in this fable is just a nice touch to this heart warming tale/great battle not the justice seeking point. nice of you to chime in Tecmos we were just discussing your style :)

confused about more ah, alas. it takes every kind of people to make the project of our youth go round, all we can do is try to align others to our way of thinking when we feel it suits the greater good. Take Quidello from the story for example; somtimes it takes a bit of angst and disagreement to set the stage for the true heroics of giving the benefit of the doubt and owning up/learning from your behavior or observations

agreed, the choice of "poaching" was my comical jab hehe. figured it was low key poking fun, all things considered from the other party. aye we had a great chat at the end, but ive yet to see him ingame again. always down for adventures and discussions with my fellow encs and solo/small group artists. talking eq shop when you cant play is part of the fix!

the absolutely amazing QQUI https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232071 couldnt live without it. its lean and sexy. one thing that erk'd me about this client and screens i see of current live version is how encumbering and thicc/ugly the UI is.

Besides that... I honestly do prefer when people can figure out how to manage loot and camps on their own rather than by reaching out to GMs. Kudos

aye. on that note - i have yet to check out this thread https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299397 but based on title im assuming its people over analyzing and over thinking an agreement/rule that requires the human factor and working together to realize. but whenever time, plat, and pixels are on the line it makes things even more difficult. as the gms have said on some policies/rules: theres not going to be a clear cut explanation on some things simply because its not possible, and requires people working together to make it happen. So i can understand their ambiguity and adjustments, especially to the raid scene/rules for the most part

granted i went hard for a while, my magelo is a testament to that. knowmercy is the #1 enchanter on the box gear wise (sorry OG hyjal, brother your geared weird lol). once i got the toon to a place were i could fart around to a degree of my liking, and had no intentions of making another toon or need for plat, things changed. i wont say for better or for worse because thats the beauty of how you can enjoy this box. but now its more about the unique experiences like in the tall tale

interesting, in all the return to red outcrys ive read dont think ive seen somone bring this up. global ooc doesnt provide a closer sense of community? or appart from just not being classic, does it enable and highlight the capacity for the negative aspects of what the community can be? the latter seems to be the jest of what i hear people concerned about, or at least the vocal ones. i guess the people enjoying it shouldnt care either way heh

I really dislike the XP bonus. Everyone loves a good old scrump in crushbone, over the lakes of dagnors, or in mistmoore.

High level pvp is a pita because recovery is much more intensive, and there is a lot more on the line.

I basically stopped playing red after the xp bonus was put in. It seemed almost like a mechanic to accelerate new players to become freshmeat for the end game.
