Assuming haste item like FBSS and a good weapon like.. Granite Face Grinder in later levels and maybe Poison Wind Censer for low levels (or Maybe GFG from 1? idk. advise me.) which would be better? 1hand/shield or 2hand?

https://wiki.project1999.com/Rune_Etched_Icewurm_Fang to begin. At some point you'd switch to GFG but not sure when.

1hp till damage cap is lifted 20+

Shaman damage cap isn't lifted at 20+ anymore.

These are the weapon damage caps that Demonstar55 said Live had, and Haynar thanked Demonstar55 for his input when he patched them. I'm not 100% sure all of them are exactly the same, but I know a monk can't get max damage from an IFS until 30+ and a 60 caster with a Rod of Annihilation is treated as if the weapon is 40/40.

Level <10
Caster - 6
Priest - 9
All Else -10

Level 10-19
Caster - 10
Priest - 12
All Else -14

Level 20-29
Caster - 12
Priest - 20
All Else -30

Level 30-39
Caster - 18
Priest - 26
All Else -60

Level 40+
Caster - 40
Priest - 80
All Else -200

I would do, if your budget permits.

1-10 Jade Mace
20-30 PWC
30+ GFG

This is a trick question: in practice there is very little difference in DPS/leveling rate between Shaman melee weapons.

I'm not saying there's no difference ... I'm just saying you'll spend more time thinking about the decision than you will save from picking the "correct" weapon.

Not fully, it really comes off at 30, just experienced it with my Shaman using a GFG (hitting max 50s before 30 and now hitting 70+).

I just did some testing on the Yeti's in DL with a Granite Face Grinder and Ice Wurm Etched Fang. The GFG would do 9-14dps and the Ice Wurm would do around 9-12 mostly 10-11. I took alot less damage using the Ice Wurm + Sarnark Battle Shield. I've now stopped using the GFG unless I'm with someone else who is tanking.

Bad math. You're not even considering damage mitigation from the shield. If you do 10% less damage, but the shield mitigates 12% of the incoming damage, you took 2% less damage than if you did 10% more damage.

Bad math. You're not even considering increased mana regen from the downtime of killing faster. If you do 10% less damage, but the shield mitigates 12% of the incoming damage, you took 2% less damage than if you did 10% more damage, but you killed the mob 10% slower which means you could have acquired 10% more med ticks in between kills!

you're talking about the time it takes to kill a mob in relation to it's impact on overall leveling speed, which is absolutely impacted by downtime, etc.

So what your saying is Skarlorn made an otherwise overlooked contribution to the conversation. GJ leatherfoot.

Rune etched wurmfang + shield of falsehood until epic is the correct itemisation choice until epic. Gotta look good.

A lot of misinformation by people that don't even have a barb shaman.

Even the wiki isn't right. My 25 monk with a staff of battle has an alleged "30" damage cap, but he hits for more than 60 pretty frequently. He's hit into 100+, though not often.

Granted, he hits for 60 more often than anything else, but that's hardly the "cap". I don't think at 25 he gets any innate bonuses, right?

The damage cap only relates to the damage added by the weapon. Dmg added via ATK buffs (including str) cause you to do moredmg
