Plane of growth open raids

An old-timer on the server told me that Legend has it there used to be open raids in the plane of growth. Just out of curiosity, is this still a thing or are people still scared to lose faction.

There are two guilds (well, one guild and one 2 guild alliance) who have been doing PoG full clears (including Tunare) the last few months. There is also a guild or two that clears the PoG trash for armor drops (I think The Second Sons, but could be wrong). I am not aware of any open raids, and it takes a fair amount of coordination and sophistication to break in, so imagine it would be a very challenging open raid to run.

If you are simply interested in seeing and killing in the zone, feel free to message me and I will let you know the next time Paradigm Shift goes up there to kill Tunare, although I would recommend trying to put on a few levels. A level 46 SK will struggle mightily against many of the mobs in the zone and might be a detriment to the raid as a whole. You’ll also need a way out of the zone (gate potion, OT hammer, TLs and ports are usually, but not always available).

One guild called awakened hosted an open raid to get players to clear the trash for them (and did not let them roll on tunare loot), so they DO happen if not extremely rarely. As previously mentioned some guilds go to growth, you'd have better luck joining one of those.

First of all, what was said was provably incorrect. Secondly, this isn't RNF and both of you should cool your jets if as you say you "aren't trying to start shit".

Furthermore, your follow-on assumptions are just that and they are also incorrect. It was discussed before Tunare was killed in-guild to have one of the Tunare items rolled for if there was more than one non-bp. Several people would have wanted the whip from the guild.

The only reason they let the braid go to roll was because of the huge backlash and realizing how bad a PR stunt this was. Yes technically they let one loot get rolled but the original intention (as can be seen in the thread) was to let the open raiders roll on the thurg quest quality drops.

He gave a statement which he knew was false and refused to admit his lie and instead throws up new arguments claiming essentially "yes I lied but refuse to admit it, however, I'm pretty sure they just did a good thing for image reasons". Oh no! I've lost this argument and he didn't lie at all.

I am going to plan a trip to Germany! We will go to Oktoberfest in Munich and my closest friends and I will all have 100 beers. It'll be so great. But getting there might be expensive, so I'll let a bunch of plebs come along too so they can pay most of the fare. They don't get any beer though. The plebs soon realize this is a shit deal and begin to berate me and my friends before the trip even starts! Well crap.

I then hatch a brilliant plan to drink 99 beers instead and give 1 to the plebeians to share among themselves. Apparently this is enough to sate the urge to cry foul, at least among one of the plebs named Zut.

An open raid that isn't open for all the loot is kind of a wonky thing to do, which is exactly what was done with the exception of one beer. I think that's all Phenyo was trying to say. You calling that "fake news" seems pretty indefensible, and very transparent of your representation. I guess if a quote from the original open raid announcement isn't enough to change your mind, nothing will.

The rules were all spelled out well in advance. Those that found it unfair didn't attend. The "garbage" loot all had multiple rollers.

People got to see content they had never seen before, get a taste of high end raiding and were probably in a better position to have their own successful PoG raids with their own guilds later.

Many people had a lot of fun and I know haters gotta hate but when you lie to support your bias, I'm going to call it out.

The open POG raid last year by Awakened was a lot of fun

The premise of the open raid was to let plebs do the boring grind of a PoG clear because most Awakened members only log on for Tunare. Anyone who claims otherwise is naïve.

Of course clearing faster was part of premise. Doesn't mean we didn't sincerely intend for people to have fun and get nice loots -- both can be true. Only bittervet would believe was entirely some nefarious scheme hatched in smoky back room, and only crazy bittervet would maintain belief in spite of reports our open PoG raid was quite fun from "naive" non-Awakened participants.

The 'Braid of Golden Hair' goes for less than 200 DKP in Aftermath (less than a vindi breastplate), and Tunare loot was mains only in Awakened. Had it been a better item, Awakened would not have allowed open roll.

PoG clears often get half the numbers you'll see compared to the actual Tunare fight, so yes Awakened obviously did it so the normies clear Growth for them.

Nobody is lying except you. but mission accomplished you shoo'd away most of the server that you didnt like by announcing tunare loot wasn't going to be randomed and decided right before tunare after hours of clearing that the pawns you used can roll on one item. Plain and simple facts, the thread said tunare loot was awakened only, changing it after the open raid STARTED does not void the original intent.

It's like inviting people to your birthday party but saying they can't have any birthday cake. Then when only 3 out of the 30 people you invited show up you say "fuck it you can have some cake".

Nobody ever said anything was done just to spread peace and joy. The motivation was to speed up the clear to Tunare. How successful was that? Not including the Wuoshi kill before it was 6 hours in PoG which is a bit faster than some clears I believe, but not that big of a difference. Was it worth it to AW? Did AW do it again? Did any other guild?

What was the one item off Tunare that AW received? Massive Heartwood Thorn not earring or shield and not appreciably better than the whip. If you think we wouldn't have had a few tells on the whip, you would be mistaken.

The decision was voted on by members and people had various motivations from PR, why not, doing something nice, etc.
