The Auction Zones of Different Servers

Hi all! I remember that when I used to play on Xegony the main auction zone was actually Greater Faydark right next to the Kelethin bank instead of EC Tunnel. That was always fun and the bank was always right next to the auction area. Actually, now that I think about it, there might be an advantage to Kelethin bank as an auction area for KoS races -- if you jump off Kelethin because your invis popped the guard or whoever is attacking you might path to the elevators to get off of Kelethin giving you time to camp. Additionally, there are non-KOS Wizard Spires in GFay making it directly portable to by Wizards and Druid Ring is one zone over in Butcher Block.

Where was the auction zone on your server?

Was EC on original Fennin Ro. I like the idea of it being next to a bank though.. We should have a serverwide change in locations.

It was in North Freeport near the bank on Saryrn during Classic, iirc.

I like the idea of having it in GFay since you can port directly there, in addition to having a bank close by. It would also make people seek out wizards for ports.

Hey Kittens, I played on Xegony as well. IIRC EC eventually became the hub in late classic, but I definitely remember a ton of action in Kelethin too. I remember staring in awe at the elven lowbies heavily twinked in their full suits of bronze, while dual wielding bladed thulian claws and dragoon dirks, maybe even an SSoY. One day, I was going to have an alt like them!

Xegonyman here, and damn, I factioned my Ogre Warrior for banking in Kelethin. It was awesome being factioned as an ogre in elf city, somehow.

I played on a bunch of servers, due to how I kept quitting and starting over anew. I recall East Commons, Greater Faydark, North Freeport and even Nektulos being used as the auction zone on various servers. North Freeport was best thanks to the bank and (relatively) easy access for non-factioned characters.

Veeshan was NFP, IIRC. It required some work for evil races, but that is a pretty easy faction to get sorted.

Tribunal and The Nameless it was EC, but GFay was always the most popular low-level zone in the game by far and had lots of people traveling through it, so there were always people auctioning there too; it just tended to be less high end stuff than what you'd find in EC and not as much spam.

EC is logistically a bad choice in an era of the game where being Evil-faction doesn't matter anymore and Ports can be dialed up, but that tunnel is awesome and it's how things should be. It just makes complete sense with its central location in the game world and distance to both Good and Evil banks, and especially that a city named Freeport would have this on its outskirts. Totally classic and immersive.

Rallos Zek didn't have a main auction zone. Maybe a little trading happened at the bank in Kelethan, but not much. It was war.

I remember doing a Fight Club in the sewers. Ogre wall to prevent dudes from escaping. Swap to fungi for the win, good times.

saryrn was north freeport. was kinda nice not only because of bank but also people would set up shop in different buildings and in their /auc would say which shop/building or sewers if evil. made it easy to locate the trader you were looking for. really enjoyed when people would just say they had 6-8 bags of gear, just come browse. lol spent way to much time window shopping when i had no plat >.<

Played on Veeshan who had North Freeport as trade hub.
Just remember the close quarters being filled with people, every nook and cranny taken.
Also fun with the ability to run around on the roofs while trying to find a good deal and to be honest, evil people without faction could go through the sewers to sell some shit then limp back to Neriak if needed, unless they drowned.

EC is horrible when compared to North Freeport. Worst part of P99 tbh fam

On Erollisi Marr it was always the EC tunnel. When I fiund out that "Greater Faymart" was the spot on other servers, it seemed weird to me. Pretty sure Torvonnilous was the same when I re-rolled there years later.

EC on Bertoxx. IIRC it was originally started as a weekly event pretty early on where people would come there on that day and trade between certain hours. It just stuck and became a full time thing rather quickly.

How hard, or how long do you think it would take to actually get the server to recognize and switch to a new auction zone? I really hope we are all serious about this change? And is there anything holding us back from this? We should make a thread for it. Set a date range for the change, and volunteer Wizards and Druids will stay in EC porting mules and people to Gfay!!!!!

Yep, you can bind anywhere in Gfay.

I bind alts at the wiz spires, a lot of people bind at the newbie lifts.
