Since Kunark, I've noticed root timers are lasting like > 5 seconds a lot of the time. Has anyone else noticed this? DISCLAIMER: This is not a bug report, so don't tell me wrong forum, its simply a question.

Actually it's been like that since before Kunark. Spell resists were altered and root timers were.. uhhh altered. Might not have noticed so much before but my druid did. Useless.

Root is less effective as it was - but it was too good. I had it nearly always lasting full duration on mobs 3 or more levels below me. It was so good it was better for me to root-rot without a pet as a necro than bringing the pet into things (because fear kiting wasn't a possibility where I was hunting).

Please be specific about which root spell you are using, what level you are, what level the mobs are, etc. Are you using a magic resist debuff first? Are you doting the mob, nuking the mob, doing melee damage to the mob, etc?
I see wizards using Immobilize and proceeding to triple nuke mobs to death without the root breaking in their 40s. I'm guessing the mobs were mid to upper 30's.
I know your just asking a question, but you are leaving it extremely vague. What level players do you want to answer you, people in their teens, mid 30's, or people 50+? See where I'm getting at?

I have started to notice this too before Kunark came out. Even on light blues using my resistance debuffer spell I have to cast root many times on a mob or it breaks like in 5 seconds. Currently on my level 19 enchanter.

Paralyzing Earth being casted from a 52 Enchanter AFTER tashing a mob and without damaging the mob ( I always root after I mez a mob incase it breaks), I usually have to recast root 3 - 4 times before the end of the mez. These mobs are in the level range of 47 - 50 ish

Okay, that's helpful and does sound pretty bad.
To be honest I never root a mob after tash and mez. With that kind of agro already built up, I would rather take my chances with reoccurring amnesia since it's working now. If I don't trust the memblur then I will ask somebody else to do the root, to divide agro up.
With root after mez and tash you are basically guaranteeing that this mob will tear you to shreds the first chance it gets, as well as making your tanks life a living hell (if you have one). With blur you have a 50% chance of the mob not even coming after you.
Of course now we are talking play strategies, sorry to get sidetracked.

I don't know if this is even relevant but my earth pet's root sucks too. So does Uuur's root but I figured he was just a bad cleric ;)
Edit: even the Level 51 spell Earth pet

Weird - as 51 cleric, my root sticks like mad on mobs on mid 40s.

I still use lvl 4 (at lvl 51) wizard root primarily for soloing, and it seems to stick well through lots of DDs most of the time, as well as for length of time when I'm just parking something.
