What is your favorite class to play as assuming you had a group the moment you logged in? A lot of us play solo characters because they can solo, but I believe most people would play a different class if they always had a group. I would play a Rogue. Out of all the classes they are probably counted on the least which I like. Ranger is second, following by Necromancer, Magician, and Wizard. A lot of people like being counted on and being the hero, not me.

If I had a group as soon as logging in? I would probably play a rogue or a ranger. Trying a wizard could be cool too

Rogue definitely. They're the most group dependent class in the game, but also have amazing raid potential for their DPS & relatively low agro factor (if feint gets fixed).
Rangers are always fun to play, but Wizards can be group dependent too without filling that hero roll.
If I could be 100% sure I'd have a group the instant I logged in, and where I wanted to be grouping, I'd be playing a cleric. I enjoy being the one who saves the day.

Bard
I can do everything, and a good bard is a huge force multiplier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force_multiplication) to any EQ group. I've personally seen the difference between a good and bad bard in the group, both as a tank (paladin) and the bard. More than any other class, watching a great one is like listening to a well orchestrated symphony while watching a bad one makes me want to rip my ears off to end the cacophony (puns intended).
What really got me into the bard class was one time tanking in Bastion of Thunder on my paladin with a guild group of cleric, mage, bard, wizard, and one other. The mage had the Call of the Archmage spell, the bard was an amazing puller and spot-on with the CC when COTAM broke and the bard just chainpulled our wing; it was like a hot knife through butter all night long.

Warrior,
Few things in this game are more fun than tanking to me. The thrill of calling out assists and the lives of your groupmates in your hands is awesome. Not to mention the whole raiding thing, maybe I'll roll one up down the road again.

Monks for dungeons with a high risk of training, nothing more satisfying than watching your group fall dead around you when too many mobs path in.

Yeah the thrill of standing in place mashing taunt is incredible.

Any tank worth their salt, especially warriors, knows tanking is more than mashing taunt and standing in place. Its about weapon selection positioning coordinating teamwork, etc~ If tanking was that simple we wouldn't have so many bad tanks now would we?

well when 30% of the eq population has Downs Syndrome it's no surprise. Pick a weapon with a stun/aggro proc, click taunt, bitch at your healers to heal. Tank raid content.4

pwned! I gotta remember this quote.
"knottyb0y-If tanking was that simple we wouldn't have so many bad tanks now would we?"
Also aggro management, knowing what to kill next when you have several mezed mobs, watching for casting on casters/gaters so you can slam/bash, knowing when to blow a discipline.

I would play a cleric if I knew I'd always have a group right away. The lack of transportation options and invis plus the dependence on rare tanks is a turn off to me at the moment, but that would change in a group.

Well, to be fair, warrior tanking in EQ isn't exactly rocket science. It's pretty much as basic as tanking can get (and I don't just mean in EQ, I mean in general)
With that said, any form of tanking is more than just hitting x number of button(s). Even if there were NO buttons to push, and just auto-attack to turn on, tanking would still be a lot more than turning on auto-attack and going AFK.

Mage cause its nice and relaxing but not to afk like wizard. I like to shoot the breeze and have a good time without worrying about some of the important group things like a puller or CC (especially bard) must do. Allows me time to chill, eat dinner, take a dump after eating dinner etc... all while the group progresses fine.

Bard for sure.
Monks for dungeons with a high risk of training, nothing more satisfying than training an enemy guild and gaining control of a zoneline.

Bard or Ranger without a doubt, mainly because they are the most fun to pull with and, when it comes to grouping or raiding, pulling is my favorite thing to do. Monks, Necs, and SKs are good pullers too, but FD pulling is kind of boring. CC with a ranger is a lot of fun also, and both classes are excellent kiters. Most importantly though I think there are no two classes where the difference between bad players and good players is more pronounced.

If I could quickly (like, in under 10 minutes) get into a group every time I wanted to... I'd play an enchanter or possibly a wizard.

I love playing a ranger in a group. I loved to pull outdoors (admittingly not as useful in) I could also do CC and DPS.
I miss my ranger. Maybe I'll make one... I think I shall.
