Need some advice

My main is a 38 monk that I’ve been playing for bout four years, obviously very casually. I started with no gear, weapons and clawed my way up like the rest of you. Along the way I acquired some decent pieces of gear, and weapons but as you know, with the weight penalty, it is very hard for monks to make plat. I’m still rocking several pieces of cured silk even at this level. I was looking at my weapons and I have a master wus trance stick but also a stave of shielding. I don’t remember when I got the stave I just know some high lvl was feeling generous one day and gifted it me. Looking at the wiki it says it sells for 7000 plat which obviously would help me get the rest of gear I might want. My question is, since I cannot proc the weapon till about 50 anyways, would it be worth it to sell and get some nicer gear pieces for stats until then, or should I keep the weapon. I’m torn any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you sold it you could buy Jade Mace (https://wiki.project1999.com/Jade_Mace) x2 and Silver Chitin Hand Wraps (https://wiki.project1999.com/Silver_Chitin_Hand_Wraps) and have some money left over.

But if you can afford the hand wraps or mace now, then just buy one/both and keep the stave imo.

Keep SoS and use fist main hand :)

Ignore weight capacity until 50+. As long as you're not like 50+ (I was 35-40 from like lvl 20 all the way to 52 without much loss of productivity. Tested at 15 weight vs 35 weight over a week or so.)

SoS proc is just a nice bonus. The main point of it is the great ratio.

SCHW (haste) is only 1k, which is pretty easily farmable. You could just hit up SolA and get that plat (and xp) pretty easily off gnomes or goblins.

1x jade mace MH and SoS offhand can last you until epic. Even after epic, you would just use fist / SoS still so its not really worth to sell (you would just buy it back later).

In terms of what to buy, SCHW > Jace mace >/= HP/AC rings > other pieces of gear IMO.

Y’all mention jade mace as it’s 9/18 compared to 7/18 of the trance stick but the trance stick has an 85 dmg proc. Even without the proc you think JM is better?

Right now I’ve 200 plat in the bank but assuming I’m soloing a lot wouldn’t the ac be more important in that instance. I sometimes duo with my brother who’s a shaman and we do alright but solo farming in a place far from a bank like sol a may be very time consuming no?

The mitigation from AC at low level isnt worth not geting plat. Don't get me wrong, in general more AC is better and will make soloing more efficient, but since you are lacking plat, just ignore the slightly less efficient killing so you can get some money. Mitigating like 1-5 dmg per hit isnt that big. Mitigating like 30-50+ at 52 is.

In places like Sol A, sneak sell to the goblin merchant, and then buy gems to reduce plat weight.

Once you get an SCHW, it will directly increase your efficiency in killing by 20%, well worth the small loss of recovery time from losing a few AC.

for the most part they do. very slight loss, if any.


id keep SoS and use fist. lose the wu stick. ratio is more important than the 80dd proc. save up for haste item asap! schw/sotdb/fbss

The ratio on wu's is better than fist ratio. Even at 45, fist ratio (without epic) is 13/32. Use Wu's primary, SoS secondary until epic if you can't farm enough for a better weapon like Jade Mace for primary.

Kill high hold keep guards, you can vendor their fine steel swords in zone and you can also bank the plat in zone. And youll still get exp at 38 too. Monks dont need high keep faction at all for anything since you can sneak turn in the soulfire part to the banker very easily. Youll lose freeport militia but if youre human and plan on getting a soulfire at all youll ruin west freeport faction anyways. Id say its super worth it unless you have some weird affinity about having good faction in places it doesnt really matter (west freeport faction is an entirely different faction than north where the bank is).

How often do you play? If you play somewhat regularly, maybe join a guild that's friendly to lower levels. There is no faster way to meet nice people that need bank slots more than they need that extra SCHW for that thirteenth melee alt they havent made yet. Hell, I might have one in my banks.... if I do, it's yours, PM me. I'll check tomorrow night.

I would ditch the SoS for an Adamantite Club depending on how much you are tanking or duoing/trio. The aggro becomes very handy more so than a mr and small hp buff. Heck a long stun is decent avoidance all in its own. Does not help you now of course but you will want one and probably both of these by the time you are going through the middle 50's. Spend an afternoon at something like the root net camp, sola trash, or hhk guards and you can buy a cheap haste item with nothing left over or peacebringer etc.

Alternatively sell it for haste/peacebringer asap if set on $$$

I’m thinking I’m gonna sell it and the wus for some plat then getting a jade mace primary and adamantite club secondary plus a haste item and either stash the rest or upgrade some other pieces of gear. Noticed some suggestions on going the 2HB tho I’ll look into it before pulling the trigger. I figure by the time I actually need a SoS in my higher levels we will be able to duo high dollar camps and make that money back much quicker. Thanks all for the the suggestions.
