Hello Adventurers!

First off, I would like to apologize for the delay in getting this patch out to you. There were a number of systems that were receiving an overhaul, many of which interdepended on one another. With some of this incompleted and real life schedules getting in the way, and due to the growing size of the pending changes, we decided to take a step back and split the patch up.

The latest patch contains new required files. Download and extract the Project 1999 Files (V46) (http://www.project1999.com/files/P99Files46.zip) to your EQ Titanium Directory.

The Broods of Di'zok have fortified their ranks. Chardok is more dangerous than ever, but those who adventure there may be greatly rewarded.

Code

Rogean: Netcode changes to throttle rates. This will result in faster loading times and possibly help (or make worse, we'll see) any desync.
Haynar: Fixed skill cap mods so they are loaded correctly when zones start up.
Haynar: Updated structs to support /who all LFG.
Haynar: Fixed an issue with CoH not clearing aggro when it should.
Haynar: Fixed an issue which caused item clickies to use an effective spell casting level of 255. Sorry boys, no more super SoW sword.
Haynar: NPCs should be able to see what is in the water better now.
Haynar: Changed how mobs positions are updated at a distance. This should improve tracking of NPCs and Clients.
Haynar: Fixed a condition that caused NPC pathing to get stuck in an endless loop.
Haynar: Updated NPC pathing behavior so mobs can reach their destination easier.
Haynar: Capped non-damage hate component for out of class procs/clickies to 400 hate.
Haynar: Added combat flee stuns. A mob hitting a player from behind who is running away, has a chance to perform a stunning blow. Credit to Mackal & Torven for working out the mechanics.
Haynar: Added support for light sources - Credit original work from EQEmu.
Haynar: NPCs hailed will now only face their target if they are standing.
Haynar: Zoning characters will no longer show on friends lists.

Nilbog: Tower of Frozen Shadow: Tserrina now gates and has a grid. shaded torches have combat procs. familiars have a chance to see invis.

Nilbog: Updated texture for Cougarskin Sleeves.
Nilbog: Human Wizards of Bertox now start with correct note.
Nilbog: Rat Foot now drops.
Nilbog: Added missing dialogue for Roesager Thusten.
Nilbog: Added missing rewards and corrected faction for 'Putrid Skeletons' quest.
Nilbog: Added missing turn ins, dialogue, and npc interactions for 'Hollow Skull' quest.
Nilbog: 'Alter Plane: Sky' works in airplane.
Nilbog: Paw: Certain jail cells and doors open only by clickable levers (beware).
Nilbog: Removed the chance of receiving no loot from the 'Heretic Heads' quest.
Nilbog: Added several missing spawns in guktop/gukbottom.
Nilbog: Half Elf warriors of Innoruuk now start with correct note.
Nilbog: 'Indaria's Doll' quest now awards proper faction.
Nilbog: Corrected several npc factions and aggro/death messages in highkeep.
Nilbog: Orc and Gnoll scalps give significantly less exp for Captain Ashlan/Orben quests.
Nilbog: Sentry Kale will respond properly at dubious faction for bracer quest.
Nilbog: 'Weapons Delivery' quest should now work.
Nilbog: Corrected a crash issue with Sifaye Dart.
Nilbog: 'Crusaders of Greenmist' quest is now active. ~Oct2001
Nilbog: Verina Tomb has a spawn window of 48-96 hours.
Nilbog: Added several missing loot items to Grachnist the Destroyer.

Nilbog: Permafrost: Removed extra spawns,added missing ones, changed injured polar bear spawn mechanics.
Nilbog: cyclops eyes no longer drop/ 'Xelha's Cyclops Eye' quest no longer works.
Nilbog: Shield of the Protector was too rare. Its drop rate has been adjusted to be comparable with similar loot.
Nilbog: Ye Auld Ball Peen Hammer may be equipped in Range slot.
Nilbog: Minotaur Elder now casts cleric spells.
Haynar: Updated pathing at entrance to Velketor's.

Telin: [Feb2001] Added faction hits to Toxxulia Forest kobolds.
Telin: High Keep guards now spawn at greater level ranges and are slightly wealthier.
Telin: Reduced Seafury Cylcopes spawns to their classic spawn limit and greatly reduced their spawn time.
Telin: Qeynos investigators discovered the source of the Karana plague. The plains are beginning to recover.
Telin: Fixed Sky-related issues that were causing a large amount of errors when loading the game.
Telin: Shadowed men now have unique loot tables by class. Warriors will now display their dual-wielding weapons.
Telin: Some hatchlings in Temple of Veeshan are no longer immune to charm.
Telin: Increased size of The Spiroc Lord.
Telin: Torment of Shadow's spell particle effect will now last its full duration.
Telin: Corrected a royal fish's death emote.
Telin: Added gem drops and a death emote to Sentinels in Erudin.
Telin: Shuttles for the Maiden's Voyage will now face the proper direction when docked.
Telin: An investigator in South Qeynos will no longer assist Donally Stultz during battle.
Telin: Corrected The Statue of Rallos Zek's faction.
Telin: Guard Bicker and Lorton now patrol High Keep instead of standing still.
Telin: The Left Goblin Ear quest rewards less experience.
Telin: Ulthorks in Eastern Wastes will drop loot more often.

Telin: Removed non-classic troll shaman spell vendors from the Neriak Foreign Quarter.

Telin: Capitalized Klicknik beetle names in Qeynos.
Telin: Adjusted faction reward for Tiny Gem, Leatherfoot Raiders, Pincers, Pickled Frogloks, and Geozite Tool quests.
Telin: Adjusted loot tables and increased level ranges in Upper Guk.
Telin: Pardas Nalue in Paineel now sells cloth armor.
Telin: Corrected Gornit's level range, max hit, and loot table.
Telin: Added aggro/slay/death messages to Gornit, Droon, Proon, Goob Mudtoe, Warlords Vyzer, Zyzz, Geot, The Ishva Mal, Sirran the Lunatic, North Qeynos Guards, and Hikyg.
Telin: NPC Guildmasters will hit much harder.
Telin: Added missing quest to Lozani in High Keep.
Telin: Removed non-classic Guildmasters in Qeynos.
Telin: Sunrises and Sunsets have new classic color transitions. Be sure to have your sky setting at Complex.
Telin: Driver Bryggin now despawns if not engaged.
Telin: Corrected Holy Forge discipline's caster and spell animation.
Telin: Removed a roaming drake from the NTOV hallways.
Telin: Added missing loot to Proon.
Telin: The bear spawn in Blackburrow now patrols the first level with several new placeholders.
Telin: Marshal Anrey now has his classic appearance.
Telin: Leatherfoot Raiders quest now requires amiable faction to complete.
Telin: Added multiquest ability to Leatherfoot Raiders quest.
Telin: Alligator skin will now only be found in Innothule Swamp.
Telin: Added missing loot to alligators in all zones.
Telin: Removed Gralbug from Oggok.
Telin: Finrin Talister now spawns in Frontier Mountains.
Telin: Increased North Ro guard damage.
Telin: Guard Ebarr In Qeynos now responds when hailed.
Telin: Oracle Vauris no longer spawns.
Telin: The Spiroc Thunder Totem now drops again.
Telin: The Kael recruiter at the entrance will no longer aggro.
Telin: Improved loot and corrected name and appearance of higher level ogre raiders in Timorous.
Telin: Evil eyes in East Karana will drop loot more often and have fewer hitpoints.
Telin: Rod of Identification now has unlimited charges.
Telin: Increased level range of Crag spiders in East Karana and fixed Carrion spiders to consider indifferent. Crag and Carrion spiders will remain social. Also adjusted loot.
Telin: Added missing dialogue to Guard Colin and Valon in West Commonlands when tolls are collected.
Telin: Nobles in High Keep now drop ringmail armor.
Telin: Added additional boat announcements to Oasis of Marr, Butcherblock, Firiona Vie, Erudin, and South Qeynos.
Telin: Blocks of high quality ore no longer drop.
Telin: Snakes in Qeynos are now just called snakes.
Telin: Added missing environmental particle effects to the Prince and Korocust room in Chardok. Also added particles to Sebilis "disco" camps and zone outs.
Telin: Added missing weapons and research items to Chief Goonda's loot table. Also reduced his spawn time and increased his aggro range.
Telin: Increased faction hits for ogres in West Karana, Pyzjn in Qeynos Hills, and Sentinels in Erudin.
Telin: The Skulking Brutes in Warsliks Woods are less aggressive.
Telin: Increased the concentration of mobs near the Erudin gate in Toxxulia Forest.
Telin: Added additional loot to Plane of Mischief.
Telin: Adjusted factions for various npcs in Plane of Mischief, a beggar in North Qeynos, and Klieb Torne, Micc Koter, Trumpy Irontoe, and Faren in South Qeynos.
Telin: Added missing emote to Phloatin Highbrow in Erudin.
Telin: The main room door in Plane of Mischief will now fear players when clicked.
Telin: Wizards should now be able to use the True North spell at level 1.
Telin: Adjusted fog density and clip planes in many zones to appear more classic. For example, East Freeport and Felwithe will be much clearer while Nektulos and Kithicor are less so.
Telin: Corrected Dixl Drool's loot table and appearance.

Not 100% sure but I think something might be in place for knights. Seem to be hitting a bit harder and I think my lowest hit was more than 27.

Keep crashing every 2 zones... patch made it worse for me.

Cant even login it just crashes when i try to enter with my char.

its not leting me in, i did the patch, it worked let me in, got a rez on my bard, i hammered to ot, and it crashed, now it wont let me back in when i get to the server select screen it crashes me to the log in screen. iv reset many times, iv even rerun the patch. idk why it wont let me in.

I logged in to go get my spells and I have ZERO chars that I have been playing. Just the first screen when you come to the game initially with a human char to create. Oh well...only days I get to play are the weekends. Guess it's a work around the house day.

Not working for me either. Think server is down. Tried before and after server with no luck.

I am also having issues logging in. I have downloaded and extracted the patch to my p99 folder several times. I turned off my virus protection and still can't load a character into the server. I can only make it to character select and eventually it times out and kicks me back to the log in screen. Any other suggestions out there?

Hi all. You need to extract the new files in to your Everquest directory. Your computer should prompt you as to whether youd like to override or copy the files. You want to override in most cases. If you don't get that prompt, you're likely not doing it right.

If you continue to have problems, uninstall and reinstall and follow the getting started guide. This sucks, but shouldn't take you too long.

Think I deleted the files for downloding the game. Really think I need to do that again? When I originally downloded them, I have a file that is flagged as a virus, dont want to do that again...

Edit: I am able to get into other servers. Red did not work however

This a result of my pet name research post? If so, possible to add, "Credit to Rygar for the complete list." or something? It took quite a bit of digging and figuring out, was pretty proud about it. Not that it is something I want for each bug report, just felt like that one was an 'above and beyond' type thing.

Am sad the Dalnir / Hole updates didn't go live, but lets me look forward to things in the next patch :)

I am having the same issues where I am on the character screen with it stating that "your spells file is outdated." I've done an uninstall and reinstall of the game, and applied the appropriate patch with the same results. Any other ideas?

Some Mac users are getting this error after adding new files to directory it seems...

Exact error message shows:

2) bard dagger proc lasting 3 mins

3) light blue con system returning

4) resist changes for dragons


Also, I wish lifetaps were made unresistable again.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and now am getting an error "windows cannot finde 'eqgame'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again. Is there an easy answer on how to correct this?

Beautiful post, but just one thing: on a free server where mysterious people I've never met keep making improvements to a game I love playing (and using to relive my turn of the century nostalgia) NO ONE is owed any sort of apology whatsoever.

I will need a little more of a walk through on this. When I click the file, it says open with "Windows Explorer" default or "save file". When I look at options other than Windows Explorer it does not show me the file you say to save it to or extract it to. What do I do? I am on Windows 10 and using Firefox.

No high quality ore drops is completely ass for someone who does human cultural smithing and has spent years to do so. Is high quality ore going to be made available at a vendor like all of the other cultural ores?

I thought the resist changes impacted more than just dragons? Either way we still need the immunity messages with those changes.

i.e. A Rock Golem is immune to your mesmerize spell. (or whatever the exact text is)

I have done the download and extracted to my P1999 titanium file. I continually get the the Character Screen and it says I need Spell Files. So I do the process again, V46 and been extracted and applied several times and deleted and redownloaded and reextracted. Still says I need spell files. Still disconnects me. Please HELP!! Thank you!

This a result of my pet name research post? If so, possible to add, "Credit to Rygar for the complete list." or something? It took quite a bit of digging and figuring out, was pretty proud about it. Not that it is something I want for each bug report, just felt like that one was an 'above and beyond' type thing.

Am sad the Dalnir / Hole updates didn't go live, but lets me look forward to things in the next patch :)

I've actually double-checked on live as well to make sure it's accurate but there is a very old list of all pet names that's been around for a while (because every possible name for a pet is auto-loaded as a special NPC in every zone). It's just a long-ass list that would be a pain to double-check and add.

Plenty of people have had their bug reports fixed in patches without credit in patch notes so don't expect your research work to be acknowledged specifically in patch notes unless it's actual dev work that possibly also impacts EQEmu :P That's how they've always done it.

Yay I finally contributed to P99 in a very minimal positive way.

It didn't make it in the patch notes but I checked and Fabian's Strings quest is also fixed he has a MQ bank now. Faction for NFP guards or Soulfire quest now available with 50% less carpal tunnel!

The only thing i was looking forward to was the knight updates since chardok is going to be ridiculous anyway. Looks like the melee changes were the only things not put into the patch. I thank you guys for your hard work though its much appreciated.

Takp made it just an algorithm since I determined the proper formula to prevent loading a list, don't see why that can't be done here.

Like I said, not looking for that every time of course, but it consisted of crawling like 1500+ old guild web pages to find a mountain of classic evidence to determine the effective list and confirming pet names aren't unique to class / body type.

I'm good without the credit understand, was just looking for classic points / acknowledgement :p. The thread was never mentioned fixed pending update, so it may not have even been used.

I had updated the spell formula To ignore levels, it came close to fixing it, but Haynar’s fix I believe got it 100%.

Thank you so much Rogean, Haynar, Nilbog and Telin! This has got to be one of the most appreciated labors of love of the past two decades, if not ever.

FYI: My SK defense skill bug persists, and is still correct by loading a character into Cobalt Scar. It is still shown as red on normal game loading (227), with corresponding AC (910 atm). If a character is loaded into CS on the same client, logged out, and my SK logged into, defense is shown as white (252) and AC is (974). No parsing or evidence of damage taken sadly, but I feel way tougher and skills are shown consistently as different. This is unchanged from client behavior prior to the patch, and I've been telling hybrids when I get the chance (am not very active).

All an FYI, no direct response requested. Thanks again p1999 team!!!!

EDIT: Wanted to add I just fixed it. I read that you can't copy and paste all the files..do it one by one. That worked it seems. Characters found. logging in now.

Is Hammered Golden Hoop incorrectly tradeable? I saw someone selling one in EC today but didn't think to check if it was no drop. Multiple comments on Zam indicate it was No Drop until 2002. I don't want to make a bug report if it's already No Drop and the guy in EC was just trolling.

One time when I updated P99 i noticed that if I just copy and paste the files into the P99 directory the folders will completely override folders with the same name versus merging the two. This may be the cause of your issue.

The person who made this design decision is probably the same person who decided we don't need a cut function in Finder.

Yea right, when stuff was changed like this on live they didn't exactly give the script to players so they could farm easier. Figure it out, search bug sections, or research ZAM for guidance

Dude, not sure what walked up your skirt. Did I ask for the solution? No. I merely asked for guidance as in "No, its not broken". From there, I will work it out. If it is broken, then bringing it to the attention of the coders would help all players. You need to go back to taking your meds.

I have seen these links in the past but they did not help as Groi was a single location spawn on a specific timer. The first link is more informative than the second. I have to assume that, as indicated, P99 now allows for Groi to spawn at multiple points rather than its single spawn point which would make more sense. As mentioned, stuns / mana drains. Also, wizard burst dmg may help.

RIP shaman soloists that push chealers, and monk/ shm duo may have some caster issues.

Short version (I'm no melee player, but Cecily taught me the basics in Seb once): when you attack a mob and you are standing close enough to them, you move the mob slightly in the direction you are facing. Currently if you get a bunch of people to all face the same direction and stand close enough, they can collectively "push" the mob far enough away from where they started casting to interrupt their cast.

I'd refer you to the entry into the "Advanced Techniques (http://wiki.project1999.com/Advanced_Techniques_Guide#Pushing)" page on the wiki, except there's no point since this is going away soon. And amazingly enough before I even had a chance to fix it myself, Caiu went and added a note already. God I love the wiki :)

I do recall that as late as PoP expansion, that we could push mobs. I don't recall if it interrupted casting, and I doubt it did. Will your patch allow for mobs to be moved via the push, but not interrupt the cast? Moving mobs with melee push was classic. I'm not certain that interrupting their casts was. Likely not.

Fixing NPC spell interrupts due to push. NPCs should not be interrupted by push. Ever. Reduce rates of bash interrupts for higher level NPCs.

NPCs here get new linger timers on reaggro if they haven't begun homing
Monks get an increased chance to blur per fd attempt here which I believe is egregiously wrong. You can FD off 5-10 shrooms somewhat consistently with a minute of chain FDs.
Everyone gets 1-2s of no-aggro after standing which I don't believe is correct (npcs should just only check every so often, meaning there is a decent chance you could get lucky, but it shouldn't be guaranteed)
Sneak/invis does not prevent reaggro after FD


It's a gigantic nerf to the monk class which is sadly sorely needed here. FD splitting is supposed to be hard.

Also no hate from spells out of melee range on belly casters would be excellent. It would make it a lot more interesting to pull all of the lords and ladies out of TOV trains. Witness checks would also make things much more interesting there.

And I'm not sure how we managed to get rogues back to sneaking everywhere, but that should go.

Maybe a slight complication if this does get implemented, but I'm near certain unresistable spells should still land on belly casters outside of melee range (not sure how P99 currently works, but from some research I've come across this seems classic).

So then if not compensated for, Wizard's can cast Porlos' Fury on belly casters outside melee range and generate no agro from it. Would be fun to see a group of wizzies trying to nuke down a ToV dragon though, curious how many it would take on that cooldown timer.

Just recalling by memory, but would this be considered 'custom content'? I thought Demonstarr55 showed that soft caps were in place at the end of Velious (maybe I misunderstood his post).

Of course, I don't even quite understand if AC on P99 is properly functioning, seemed like something of a debate.

P.S. If I have your ear, would you ever consider limiting P99 to only opening 2 containers? I came across another post from Ele where you said it was possible to restrict moving items within bank bags, but that messing with the movement code was too dangerous (could cause dupes). Not sure if preventing opening a container is the same thing?

289 AC hardcap is classic. But IMO that only helps monks who can then achieve identical AC to a plate tank while retaining Block (which is not 360 degree here I might add!).

I don't really consider Monks overpowered here in terms of pure fighting capabilities. My Warrior has substantially worse gear than my monk and yet blows him away in tanking ability, and Rogues always beat me effortlessly on the parse.

The problem with P99 monks is not pure offense/defense, but broken mechanics that are way too favorable to monks: all of the previously mentioned FD issues that let monks go anywhere with little risk, NPCs attacking probes, push to interrupt, and (before) the lack of a cap on the blinding orb. If these are fixed then I feel like the various melee would be pretty well balanced.

Then we just need the specific immunities patch to let player nukes and taps and dots land on raid bosses and I feel like things would be pretty reasonable, except for Wizards, and even they do OK with VP/Velk robes.

It would be really fantastic to see Project 1999 finally get some classic mechanics. On the other hand, I couldn't care less about multiple bags being open. Even TAKP's client lets you open more than one bag. Whatever.

If you're gonna let every class nuke raid mobs, then wizards are gonna need something in return. I will accept the TAKP version of Flaming Sword of Xuzl (it's awesome over there) and spell crits as recompense.

Titanium was once a free public download so that probably had something to do with it.

The powers that be have their own limits. Some years back I recollect Haynar saying he had a fix for mousewheel scroll ready to go but was over-ruled. Likewise the admins here have said they have no intention of removing features like item linking or multiple chat windows because they like having those things, classic or not.

I have done the download and extracted to my P1999 titanium file. I continually get the the Character Screen and it says I need Spell Files. So I do the process again, V46 and been extracted and applied several times and deleted and redownloaded and reextracted. Still says I need spell files. Still disconnects me. Please HELP!! Thank you!

I am in the exact same situation. No spells and no characters. Has anyone found a way to resolve this?

Somehow my Dynamic Lighting in options got turned off so for the last few days I thought light sources were nerfed into the ground. Finally got it working now it's like when you first replace all the bulbs in your house with LEDs.

I've had no light sources from items/players since the patch as well. Tried toggling "Advanced Lighting" on/off and zoning, with no effect. is "Dynamic Lighting" something in the options that I just can't find/see?

It's an option before you log in to the server
When you're at the screen where you enter your account password hit the escape button on your keyboard, it will take you back one screen, there will be an "Options" button, click that
It asks what graphics card, hit next
It asks about graphics for races, hit next
Then it will show you multiple options you can hover over to see what they do, turn Dynamic lighting on, hit next or finish whatever it is, completely restart the game and light sources should be working.

Post to technical discussion. Include your OS and computer specs as that may be helpful. I know some people were having issues because they were updating some folders but not the files within it.

Yeah, Windows users (of a certain version, I want to say 10) had some issue where Windows would fail to copy over the patch files properly, and you had to copy/paste each file individually when patching to get around it.

But definitely check the Technical Forum, as people might have found a better solution by now.

New player here, just sayin' it would probably be a good idea to update the "Getting Started" post with the new patch, since the game sends you there if you don't have it, only to find the outdated one.
