View Full Version : Proposal: Shady Goblin Daily Roll (similar to ring 8)

I would like to propose that we roll at a specific time of day for the turn in rights to shady goblin. Right now it is believed that this spawn has a 4 hour variance (+/- 2). I would suggest that we roll at the assumed window start time which tomorrow (2/16/19) would be 12:10pm CST (spawn occurred today 2/15/19 at 2:10pm CST).

I think this updated policy would be an improvement to what is already in place at shady goblin, which is a /random within 5 seconds of spawn. Please share your thoughts below!

Should just be 10 seconds after it spawns. Otherwise you will get 500 people showing up instead of putting in the time for those that want to put more effort into it.

My two cents. I'm sure some will disagree.

Please disregard as we are going to try rolling at 11am EST tomorrow.

Lol why 11 am exactly?

Rolling at a pre determined time wont work. Roll when it pops or expect a snipe.

Too many neckbeards wont agree and will ruin this for everyone. Will just be a roll on pop sorry

This. I was saying this at the roll yesterday: we can barely get everyone to roll ten seconds after. We don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting anything "fancier" established.

Roll before the pop

Mob has (unclassic) variance, so the pop time is unknown

I still don't understand why Cylock did this. Like, he must have had a reason, but I just don't understand how the variance helps anything.

I believe the stated reason was to discourage/eliminate having an army log in on the spawn 30 seconds prior to pop and having a click fiesta.

there has been an army every day that weve had to fight tooth and nail who cited the fact that variance SHOULD make it a click fiesta, so that reasoning effectively had the opposite effect if that was the reasoning.

Even if it has variance, you can schedule a roll for when he gets into window. Everyone who is less than the roll can get the heck out.

Can we at least go back to 10 or 15 seconds? The 5 second thing just doesn't sit well with me.

Why? 5 seconds was a compromise with people that wanted to click to avoid AFKers

If they are ok with a timer at all, why must it be 5 seconds? Why is 10 so objectionable?

I say roll at the start of the window. Winner can stay and wait for it, then reports when it popped, losers can go do something else.

Makes the most sense to me, tbh.

An instant roll isn’t really something that would be enforceable. Thus 5 seconds. And check the other thread. I’m trying to appease both sides and make it palletable based on the feedback and discussions that have been had.

But, rly, what makes a 5 second roll ok but a 10 second roll questionable?

The clickfest crowd wants people to not be able to afk the whole window. People were worried about others using Gina. This is where we got after several windows worth of discussion

.... but that doesn't answer the question, lol.

People didnt agree to it therefore no player agreement. The current agreement is the only working consensus among the 20 or so who come to shady so far.

Yeah I am liking the roll on pop. Predetermined rolls don't sound good to me. 5-10 seconds should be good enough, but no more than that.

Right. I'm not sure even a majority are happy with the roll on spawn we've done the past couple of days.

I've been trying to get some sort of staff feedback as far as how they view the 'agreement'. Cylock quoting Diamondfist can be interpreted to say something on it, but its far from clear.

Right now there's a line in the sand that no one has crossed yet to see if something will happen. We'll see...
