This fell into a few different sub forums so why not use general chat.

Does being under 75 Wisdom hurt Paladins or Rangers that much?
I know being under 75 agi hurts ac
I know being under 75 dex hurts weapon skillup speeds

But does being under 75 wis/int hurt mana pools? These alts are going to be sparsely played and wont get to 50+ any time soon and the mana may matter.

It means you have to RP your character a cosnspiracy theorist nut.

Maybe make rediculos suggestions in game such as when The Hole was formed a chunk of Old Paineel blasted some Kerrans to the moon. Or that the Shishar avoided the Greenmist by teleporting over to live on the airless moon.

I wish I can argue that but most of EQs xpacs revolved around old unplayable races. Lost my shit a few years ago when I found out gnolls and bixies got their own xpacs

I've not noticed Half-Elf wisdom hurting to any significant degree. Keep in mind P99 uses the adjusted Velious-era hybrid mana pools. Even with low Wisdom you'll have more mana than a classic or kunark hybrid had, historically. Certainly you'll have enough to do your job. Rangers generally don't worry about mana pool size all that much, and typically Paladins only do in specific situations where they find themselves healing a lot. It won't be an issue in the leveling portion of the game.

I can recall when the SK spell set was originally adjusted and the pet was added at level 9, a troll (possibly Ogre too, not sure) with no points in INT couldn't cast his level 9 pet spell at all until level 10. Didn't have enough mana. That was never a problem on P99.

Based off of the mana calculation that someone posted here a week or so ago, 100 seems to be the breakpoint. You get the most mana per point of WIS/INT between 100 and 200.

After playing my half elf paladin for awhile and changing from armor of ro to crusty armor I lost maybe a grand total of 40ish mana going below 75 wis

Also had similar results by asking a random enchanter to make me dumberer on my ogre sk, small mana losses from dipping below 75 int.

oh shit, old thread.

manapool as a ranger/pal does not matter much for leveling group play. You will either:

1. Have breeze/clarity and spend mana carelessly.
2. Have no regenerate and have to take breaks to Ned up
3. Have no regen and ration your spells

solo it can matter a bit more if you spellweave, but can just root joust if you get low, then med up.

Being under 75 int basically prevents you from skilling up things like instruments.
