View Full Version : Sudden Price Inflation?

Is it just me or have prices started sky rocketing lately? I have even seen like 2 people going into the wiki and updating auction prices to show inflation.
It makes me wonder because it is literally the 2 same names that are putting the price higher...
Price gouging or is this a normal trend? Only been here since December but seen items jump up 100% sometimes.

Don't pay what they're asking, pay what it's worth.

People try to influence system by sitting in EC with a script that auctions items at a higher than usual rate even though they 100% don't intend to sell.
Since the server is going to be virtually static from here on in, it would be a good idea to have a price list with the general range of a "fair" price for items. At least for anything that goes for more than 1K plat or something. How is a new player or someone who hasn't played in years know the "true" value of something?

Wiki needs a longer history, like stocks.
1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 180 day, 1 year, Max, etc.

Not enough plat sinks
Dudes have been grinding plat for 3 years now since Velious came out and are all lvl 60.
More money is avai due to population spike and item demands have risen as the population hit max level to then start alts.
Plat not as valuable as it was a year ago as 100k can still buy a massive range of items thanks to the crazy farmers supply but raid drops raised in prices bc less are being sold due to astronomical zerg #s from a guilds needing to “pixel up” new members.
The greater amount of plat on the server should only be relevant for items that are not equally increasing in number. Things like beads, CoS, etc. are not increasing in umber, hence you'd expect them to continually increase in price with plat inflation. But this is not true for things like fungi BPs.

Agreed. I still wonder, how much will 2hb monk items spike when triple attack is placed in game.

You learn the "true" value of items by playing the game on the server. You will probably lose some money and some opportunities to earn more money along the way. Its a wonderful game. Like other things, btw, the best way to learn is to make friends you trust and ask questions along the way. P99 is actually filled with plenty of very helpful folks despite all the boogeyman conspiracies of RMT traders attempting to manipulate the price of items.
As for price changes this is part of the game. There is no "static" economy --- the content is static, but the server is changing all the time. Where people play, how much they play their mains, how often the make alts...all that stuff goes into controlling the supply and demand of items...i.e. the market price.

In-case anybody wants to know the changes for damage bonuses: http://lucy.allakhazam.com/dmgbonus.html
The big thing to keep in mind is the damage bonus to 2hander changes are mostly for high level characters (droppable 2handers dominate now until ~50 or so anyways). Following the patch, I'd expect a buncha muppets to try and auction every 2hander for a premium not realizing that above bit.
I'd wager T-Staff will probably settle around 60k when the 2h patch goes in. Damage bonus going from 11 to 29 is a pretty big increase and it should outparse Fist + SoS/AC. There's a huge premium people will pay for 'best' on a static server, so I wouldn't expect IFS or Peacebringer to make absurd jumps in prices.
In terms of non-monk 2handers, Narandi Lance is leaps and bounds better than everything else. The 55+ requirement hurts it currently, but this upcoming buff is mostly for 55+ anyways (see above chart). Again, would expect muppets to try to auction their Narandi Lance for an absurd amount, but the reality is there just ain't enough knights. And the warriors wanting to use a 2hander are probably raiding w/ better options. I'd wager lances don't stray too far from where they are now.

Unfortunately, the way 2h mechanics work combined with terrible piercing skill caps means Narandi is worse than items that go for a fraction of its cost. I wouldn't buy it at its old pre-Chardok revamp price.

Narandi Lance
They tried hard to gouge once the 44/45 patch went in and then realized every knight has one already and they're falling in price since.

People are dumb with rumors. When the rumor first started about monk triple attack like over a year ago, T staves went from 25-30k to 70k overnight, and then when people got a bit less dumb it died back down to 40-45k which is still too high but w.e
More and more ive been debating another auld style character. I havent joined the guild yet but I like doing a find only type playthrough

Ravhin's code is freely available here: http://wiki.project1999.com/utils/wikiUtils.php
All anyone has to do is edit it and then convince the staff to uo upload the edited version. But of course to do that you have to first learn PHP (/shudder).

It's bad w/ Shadowknights, and Warriors in terms of maximum potential dps.
Paladin post lvl50 skill cap with piercing: 225
Shadowknight post lvl50 skill cap with piercing: 210
Warrior post lvl50 skill cap with piercing: 240
All other melee weapon skills are capped at 225 for Knights, and for Warriors it's 250 making piercing optimal on Paladin's only.
Somewhat offtopic, but anyone got any links/evidence of when SK piercing cap changed? Was an undocumented change and shadowknight.org hasnt been a thing for a decade. Best I can find is an allakhazam comment from Jan 2002 talking about the piercing cap for SKs being 225 in reference to Queen dagger.
My gut tells me that went in with the October 2001 patch that changed all the other caps, but my guts been wrong before.

Study the item you wish to buy. Where it drops , what level , what spawn rate etc. Is there better item for sale less etc ? . Don't just blindly buy based on the price someone sets .
For example I saw people selling Crude Steins for 50p when you can get them for practically free .

Stop buying/selling to the big resellers and this would literally never happen. I have boutik/fleamarkit/couple other price gougers on /ignore and its been great
