Admittedly I was a little stressed a few weeks back.. thinking, oh man, I always wanted a Manastone and a Fungi tunic. And surely still do. But I just wanted to throw it out there... like a little splash of water on the face.
Hey, man... I mean whats the worst that will happen? You will have an awesome EQ experience like you did back in the day :) Not having a manastone or a fungi tunic didnt make you have less fun you know? Sure there will always be objects of desire...
In the end of the day, they are not easy to get, and MOST of us will never get them.
Its healthy to want things, its not healthy to stress over them :) Take a breather, they are not THAT important. The game is still amazing ^_^

I came to the realization a long time ago that I will never be rich or have "uber" items in EQ. That however is not my goal anyway and doesn't fit with my play style. I always get by and have allot of fun anyway. Maybe some day, but if it never happens I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Tell that TMO, they seem to stress easily.

Word. There is no item in the game that will enable you to "win Everquest".
There are a lot of great gear options that are limited time only but when it all comes down to it the biggest accomplishments in the game happen when you have a group of people working as a team. There is no single fancy stick or shiny stone that's going to get you your epic or help you conquer The Sleeper's Tomb. But Your guild might!

Some of my favorite memories in EQ took place in the old world classic zones.. I had a great time in Cazic Thule as an enchanter saving the group from certain disaster. I had a great time with the guilds which I was in, hanging out camping for a SMR in Lower Guk. Heck, I even had some fun waiting in Drelzna's room for the JBoots. If I ever go insane, I am sure I'll wallpaper my room with the same pattern in that little room. :-) Yeah it drove me bonkers but it was great fun waiting in line with everyone else!
Don't worry about the stuff you might miss out / have missed out on obtaining. If you don't have it, you won't miss it. :-)

When you see a monk that is conning blue killing more mobs then your full group because he got fungi robe , its a little saddening

Yeah but if you think about it... he either spent a ton of time farming green mobs for $$ to buy it, or farming the actual mob that drops it... so much time that its probably enough for you to level from 1 - 60 in that time.
So in the end of the day the equation balances out. All the advantage he is getting now he paid for earlier :)

Eh, that robe is common right now. See several a day.

The fungi robe will get nerfed and he will be left with a an ugly robe that has absolutely zero stats that a monk would want.
If you are referring to the tunic, that will always be in the game so the item does not apply to this thread which is about items that are removed from loot tables.
If your group of 6 people can't kill a mob faster than a solo monk that cons blue to you then it is indeed sad... a very very sad group. :p

Uh, I think the fungi tunic is more along the lines of increasing HP regen in a similar way that clarity increases mana regen. It's not going to be game breaking especially to the extent that you just said.. If a full group is outpaced by a solo monk like that, it's time to find a new group!

So, you solo many dragons with that tranquil staff?
And when exactly does it get nerfed might I ask?
Sorry, I just don't see how your three word answer had anything to do with my previous comment.

This post shouldnt even warrant a response but....
+15 hp regen / tick < random blue wanders in DL that hit for 120. Good try though.

When you factor monk AC and avoidance, that 15hp regen a tick starts to make a big difference. Fungi tunic makes soloing immensely easier 50+ as a monk.
But yeah, the guy you were responding to did overstate the effect of +15 hp regen. It's not > than a group...not even close.

I wonder in general, if the nerfed items should have been put up on the server at all this time around. After all, the experts know what item will get nerfed and have an idea when. There is now a huge rush to all those nerfed items because the people know they are going to get nerfed and they know it will happen soon. The percentage of players who own a nerf-item will be so much higher on nerf day than the percentage ever was on live because of that knowledge. And their advantage will be huge. Why else would the top guild go into poopsock mode to get all these items.
Just look at the advantage people bound at the firepot room will have. So much faster to mobilize a raid. They will beat ALL raiding guilds created after the nerf day. I wouldn't expect a single guild during classic time with more than 50% firepot-bound casters. But I bet the top raiding guild now are approaching 100%.
Given, I am a late come to the classic game (a month after Velious went live) and most of those nerfed items have mythical status to me, just as if they never existed. And I don't miss them. It's just like a win in the lottery, woould be nice to win, but nothing to lose sleep about.

But if I use that logic, since I had all of those items back in the day and they were so freaking cool, since I don't have them now because I'm not an angsty little virgin kid with no life I should be working just as hard as I possibly can so that I can attain these items again and re-live my live experience? Fucking eh, thanks chief, time to man up and play more EQ imo. THEY WILL BE MINE, THEY MUST BE MINE. /stress

I think the whirl component of 100 blows gets nerfed in 2010 for PVP reasons.
I am not sure when the mob lvl limit was introduced, Velious maybe? Or was there always that limit?

I hear that combo does big things against adds, AoE dots and death touches. Or can monks just walk right up to epic mobs and start chain stunning them without getting noticed? Oh wait, I forgot about mobs that are immune to stuns.
So I refer you again to my original comment.

It is ironic that the only way I can think of swing speed affecting procs is by being slowed and using rampage
