View Full Version : Scout Roll Giving Spirit

So this is easy for me to suggest given that I had the luck of winning the roll today but it also got me thinking about the people who keep the Scout Roll civilized for the rest of us.

Since I've been doing the roll, Sahoni has been the unofficial MC for like 99.9% of the rolls I've attended. Given that he has been at this day in and day out for ~5 months, I'm wondering what everyone thinks of a one time pass to allow Sahoni and automatic pass to turn in his tools?

FYI - I have no relationship with Sahoni beyond general banter during rolls. Genuinely seems like a decent dude who deserves a break on this roll game. That's all.

In before flames... If you think this is a stupid idea, I get it. Just a thought I'm throwing out there.

Well just convince everyone who shows up to the next roll to not roll. That way whatever Sahnoi rolls will be the highest roll and he can turn in to scout.

I'm sure that won't be an issue at all and will go well for you two.

I volunteer to show up and not roll. I'm good at showing up and not doing things already. Can I also be late?

For real though: Respect to Sahoni.

I don’t feel that is warranted and honestly I don’t feel Sahoni would want a participation ribbon..

I hate to break the news this way to you but... winning a random 1000 is not an accomplishment in any sense of the word.

I don't think we should give Sahoni a free roll.
He is doing a great job there and we don't want to lose him.
Please Sahoni, never win!

If people want they can always give their roll (should they win) to Sahoni. And if they politely share what they are doing before the roll, others might join in. I highly doubt everyone will, but if enough people do it he'll have good odds.

Yea, because rolling for other people won't open a can of worms.

When we first switched from spam clicking using external programs to a population agreed upon roll, the rules were that you had to roll for yourself and only yourself, you had to have the tools and faction. Just because a few vocal people haven't won in a while doesn't mean we should start changing things IMO.

It's a nice thought, but I think when you scale out, it'll create too many issues. He won't be the last nice, helpful guy with terrible luck at the scout roll. Once the precedent is set, people will start arguing for the other nice guys to get free turn-in rights as well, and it'll become a popularity contest.

Maybe do something nice for him, or see if other scout regs want to put together a pool and/or a group to get him something else he needs.

Ah; didn't realize. But still, I'd imagine making a one-time exception for a popular person would be easier than getting the entire group to give up their roll for him ... though I'm not saying that it's actually a good idea either.

What about logging on someone’s character for them? What’s the feeling on this? Specifically me logging on one of noted server scumbag Erati’s characters?
