Hey. You probably know me as the 18 year old kid who started playing Everquest Classic two years ago. I decided to compile all of my knowledge and things I wish people told me when I first started playing this game into one guide, to help players coming from more casual MMOs into P99 adjust to the pace.

https://wiki.project1999.com/Midoo%27s_EQ_Guide_For_WoW_Refugees

I hope my contributions improve the community in any way, and any criticism or suggestion is appreciated since I'm not used to writing guides for anything period.

I apologize if this isn't the right board for it.

Hey I checked this out, and quickly found this which is incorrect:

Enchanters can cast an illusion on you

Enchanters can only illusion themselves, druids can give you a wolf form that can help with some factions, whereas others it may cause you to be instant KOS.

Nice guide, still looking at it.

Thanks. I'll work on fixing any inaccuracies as I notice them.

Enchanters have access to the spell Boon of the Garou which allows them to cast a werewolf illusion on a target in their party.

The more you know.

Good point, the exception, does the werewolf form granted from boon help with old world factions?

I actually wanted to try it at some point. I'm still looking for a 44 chanter with Boon to take my Zek worshipping Ogre to Kaladim so I can see for myself.

I think you did a great job and this would definitely help noobs.

One slight correction which is almost not worth mentioning... in the scribe your spells section change druid to ranger for lvl 9 spells.

Keep up the good work.

Also, this guide already existed on the wiki under leveling hunting and class guides:

https://wiki.project1999.com/Jval2529%27s_Guide_for_People_Coming_from_Modern_M MOs

Not sure if your guide is listed there too, but I didnt see it

I knew about that guide. It read it myself and it helped me when I got started, but I felt like writing a newbie guide that's more in-depth about the initial class choice and mechanical aspects of the game.

I don't really want to be that guy but a lot of the class descriptions are misleading and/or inaccurate... i.e. "Any DPS the Warrior will do will be outshined by every single other class in the game" is just wrong. The Newbie (https://wiki.project1999.com/Players:Newbie) wiki page has pretty good class descriptions. That said, if you're trying to give more "thematic" insight into class choices you're kind of on the right track I suppose.

(You also uh, forgot about wizards. )

Yeah, I wanted to give classes a more broad introduction, to sort of connect them to the perspective that someone who played WoW or the like would be familiar with.

Wizard added. Sorry about that, forgot to copy it from my draft file :p

Excellent writing style, hoping to see more guides from you!

Also, for Rangers, mention Tracking skill, nobody does it better.
