View Full Version : Will all the various quirks be cared through the green timeline?
One of my mains back in vanilla was a necro and a couple things jump out are necro pets attack rate used to be based on weapon delay(if i recall right they didn't even include this in the patch notes, but it was definitely pre-kunark that it got nerfed, though it was around in vanilla for quite awhile). Another big one is clarity used to stack with the lich line. A third one was being able to double pact at the hit point cost of only one pact(I think this was fixed when they added an icon for death pact). I didn't play on P99 during vanilla so I have no idea they were or were not implemented.

I really wonder, but totally doubt we'd see these types of patches in green99, but would love to.
Damage over time doing full damage to non fleeing mobs while they are moving for (how many months?)
Damage cap on casters melee attacks raised until months after kunark
Scimitar of the Mistwalker Pet pre nerf, pre-prenerf, pre-pre-prenerf.
Full damage for Direct Damge spells on players for months, until that was nerfed (not that it matters but its a great example of a "querky, tiny, non well known patch" that I think would really make green99 the best classic experience IMO)
There's probubly hundreds of these!

What about mobs that dropped something too frequently, that was fixed?
What about turn in quests that give multiple rewards lol surely that would NOT be something that should be on green (but in my opinion should be!) IIRC there were some pretty broken exploits that id love to see be actually coded into the most "perfect" classic recreation progression server.

It would only be classic if everyone had forgotten these exploits. That is not the case. It would be a big mistake. I believe there were duplicating exploits as well.
Brain isn't working today. I meant the shadow compact line of spells. Being able to recast it before the damage has finished ticking and get a second cast without additional hp cost(you only have a couple seconds window to do it).

idk on one hand I agree with you but on the other, its all progression competition, if I knew about those sploits before you did, and I was playing a truelly classic progression server.. I feel like knowing these exploits is fair. Because I know classic EQ more than you, I deserve to beat you at it. Thats how I feel EQ is best.
Over time we all know it, and it just becomes "game mechanics" and now we're all the smartest Classic Everquesters that exist int he multiverse.
Like do we want to be the best EMU on the web? OR THE ONLLY TRUE CLASSIC EQ EXPERIENCE?
idk... on blue maybe sure, EMU it up, but on a progression server that resets? idk... I just don't know.....
Better luck next time, would be fine with me.
In the name of our community knowing the TRUTH about classic eq and all its intricacies? Id rather we were smart about THAT than smart enough about special EMU code..... I just dont know! :( good thing I dont get to decide :)

naw dude all those things are driving me crazy, things like that! I want to see a progrsesion server with that stuff! hahah

Obviously the people that know all the exploits/broken quests/quirks that got fixed later on aren’t going to spill their beans. Instead, they’ll keep quiet and hope they can exploit to their hearts content while screaming “but it’s classic!” If anyone dares to question it.

This is the notable list from Alla.. I can see some things I know happened that I dont see here. I would expect these to be the types of updates we'd see on a Rog/nilbog progression server. As for the other stuff, I can only hope nilbog is that nerdy, I know he would like to be. MAY 7, 2000
Gem Encrusted Ring removed from forest loop loottable
MAY 12, 2000
increase gate guard stats, increase spawn time of city guards from 6 minutes to 20 minutes (nerf guard hunting)

MAY 25, 2000
The Runed Fighter's Staff, previously usable by Monks and Warriors, has been restricted to Monks only. The statistics on this staff are much more powerful than normally allowed for warriors. This change is retroactive and will be reflected on items currently in inventory. Though we strive to avoid negatively adjusting items after they have been earned, this item presented a balance issue, making the change necessary. We apologize to warriors that currently own this weapon. Runed Fighter's Staff replaced with imbued fighters staff
JUNE 15, 2000
The Staff of Temperate Flux and the Rod of Insidious Glamour now have a short casting time associated with their activatable effect
JUNE 22, 2000

JULY 19, 2000
nerf deepwater helm effect
nerf donals vambraces effect
You can no longer cast invisibility on any pet.
JULY 20, 2000
/Consent no longer gives other players permission to loot your corpse. Instead, it only gives them the ability to drag your corpse using the /corpse command. This change is due to player request stemming from number of customer service issues raised by some players who were using /consent as a way to steal the belongings of other players. The change will eliminate those concerns and make the game more enjoyable for all of those involved.
AUGUST 9, 2000
Rangers, Paladins, and SKs now have mana equivalent to that of a pure caster with the same stats. This will give those hybrids a good deal more mana, regardless of their stats
SEPTEMBER 19, 2000
Mosscovered Twig nerfed into Mosscovered Branch
Barbed Scale Whip nerfed to offhand only
EPIC QUESTS - We are pleased to announce that we have implemented new "Fiery Avenger" style quests for every class in the game (including paladins). The ultimate reward for each quest boasts a custom model with unique particle effects. We think that you will be pleased.
NOVEMBER 15, 2000
Repaired the Forager Bag. It was causing people to lose weight when placing items in the bag. It is supposed to have a weight reduction component, but was not supposed to cause weight loss.
NOVEMBER 29, 2000
The Monk's hand-to-hand skill cap has been raised to a level equal to their one-handed blunt skill
remove Locket of Escape
Rod of Annihilation - rare beyond belief then removed- caretaker, sebilis

I imagine the staff will clarify the details, but in short some of the stuff you mentioned will be there, and some won't.
There's probably multiple factors involved, but basically if doing things the old/wrong way is too much work ... as I suspect it would be for them to impliment letting others loot your corpse when you /consent them ... then it won't be on Green.
But stuff like being able to bind in TD was implemented here on Blue, and very likely will also be allowed (briefly) on Green.

Well yeah obviously the client could completely prevent some of these things, and though I know there is no reason to ask these questions other than fun there is no reason not to because it is!
Now I ask you loramin, put on your little magical cap and imagine for a minuet if you will, what would you do in a fanatsy world where you could very well use a scimitar of the mistwalker to summon one of the most powerful pets in the game?
now isnt that a fun little dreamy adventure?

Well the simplest is usually the most likely. So i would expect green to be like blue but with the blue patches on green to be released faster (classic timeline). The only question would be whether the blue patches were segregated between timeline changes (i.e. expansions, classic iconic item nerfs, etc) and general game changes unrelated to classic timeline (i.e. bugs specific to p99, encounter tuning). If they were than green would lunch in same state as blue but with all the general game changes unrelated to classic timeline already in and subsequent patches being the blue timeline changes. If they werent segregated than green will lunch like blue and subsequent patches (v1 to v48) being released on a classic timeline with possibly some of the major bug changes unrelated to classic being in from start.

The really interesting thing about the /consent feature before it was changed was that a given corpse was keyed to a character's name.... and only that. On Fennin Ro I had a character with a Guise (a rogue) that I didn't feel like leveling any further and was too lazy to run my new high elf Cleric down to guk to get another. I transferred my stuff off of the rogue except for the guise, died in a remote place in Felwithe (drowned), logged out to char select, deleted the rogue, and created the high elf cleric with the same name. The cleric most certainly was able to loot the guise off of the rogue corpse.
