I'm getting about 4% per hour solo exp at level 55.

What are most people getting an hour grouping/duoing?

There are a lot of factors.
Race/Class, soloing, duoing, grouping, zems, long grinds or short bursts... all sorts of stuff.

I'm a 57 dwarf warrior and I spend the vast majority of my time at Wakening Lands Geonids. In a good group I can top out at around 8-10%/hour and probably average more around 5%/hour.

What race/class are you? Where are you exping currently?

I actually had to quit watching and monitoring it because at times it was incredibly bad. Especially lvls 54 and 59. Holy shit! There were times I'd spend 6-7hrs solid with a group practically chain pulling and I'd walk away with 2% gain. Finally after I dinged 55 I just trained myself to stop looking at it and go on 'dungeon adventures' for loot and the social aspect and not even worry about EXP. Whatever trick I could do to not feel like I was making zero to little progress. This is all on a Rogue mind you who has that -10% bonus! I could only imagine if I was like a Troll SK back with the -40% hybrid penalty + racial, my god!

Key is to train yourself not to even look at the xp bar.

Depends on the class, my enchanter got 8-10% per hour at 55-60, whereas my cleric got closer to 3-4% per hour since she was dependent on being in a group the entire time.

Make friends with a necromancer/enchanter and beg them to take you to HS with them to eat the pet XP penalty

Rate per hour, as others have mentioned, is hugely variable. Some classes will be much faster than others, but it’s gonna be slow for pretty much anyone.

In general:
-classes that solo effectively do better than those who can’t
-for those classes, solo is generally faster than a full group
-duo/trio is almost always better than a full group
-availability of mobs is more important than ZEM
-velious is typically terrible compared to classic/kunark
-highly desirable group classes will net more xp/hr compared to less desirable classes

Thankfully most classes that are less desirable (ie druid/wiz) have alternative solo prospects that in many cases is superior to group xp.

Best advice: don’t focus on your xp bar. Regardless of who you are and what you’re doing 54-60 is going to feel like a crawl.

Full groups murder your XP, they're for socializing if you're into that thing. Duo/trio is the way to go if you actually want to see your xp bar move. Source: 55 iksar shaman

the key is to roll a shaman and solo imps and get through 59 in one weekend.

Bard AoE in Velks was getting me 1-1.5 blues per pull in 59. I polished it off in a weekend. Having already done warrior, I would never level another char to 60, it's just too painful.

I can't remember exactly how it went on my ranger for XP/kill, but it didn't feel too slow. Soloed the back end of LCY in karnors, spiders in Velks or the hunter/forager cycles in TT on my ranger. At 55 this was with swiftwind and dark cloak of the sky but no fungi or earthcaller.

SK solo fear-kiting lvl 45 mobs at lvl 58, I was making approx 2% per hour.

Just dinged 59 at approx 11:30PM last night, I made about 1/2 that... (1% per hour).... so either 100 hours killing guards, or I need to find a new camp...
