Hi folks,

I'd like to nominate the following City of Mist stables group for the coveted Unconventional Group of the Night award. The group broke down as follows:

3 rogs
1 monk
1 ranger

Monk shared tank duties with the highest level rogue, who was 47 and very very well geared. The ranger was on heals and did not have a C. We chain pulled for about 1 hour before calling it a night.

Are there any other nominations out there, or do we win?

Monks are always a solid choice for tanking. They aren’t near as gear dependent as warriors or most plate classes. It doesn’t surprise me

I healed KC a couple of times on my ranger.

Was awkward that time wolf form dropped and they saw me sitting there with my lightning prods out. "You're not a Druid..." Lol.

Thats when every member of the group should spam intimidate to try and fear mobs rangers have snared.

Haha! That's amazing! I think that wins.

We actually tried this but couldn't get any to land :( It was a bummer!

Was a lot of fun! We made it work with what we had and killed it.

There's two types of necros...the ones who heal/lifesteal, charm an undead pet (where possible), CC, dot, snare and help in other small ways.

...and there's the ones who summon the relevant level pet who gets sent in on 70-80% of mobs that come into the camp while they sit there watching youtube/Netflix.

Unfortunately, the second lazy specimen taints the active necro's chances of finding a group, as much as they probably do enjoy soloing successfully sometimes.

If you're going to roll any class, play it to it's potential <3

My favorite unconventional group I've run was 3 rogues, a factioned cleric+factioned enchanter killing Sirens in Siren's Grotto. We went through the huge temple with the three layers full of sirens, jumping pathers and hitting singles. 3 rogues (60, 59 and 52) was just about the minimum to cleanly kill a siren using root poison without heals, the enchanter could mez and memblur stuff to keep things single and the cleric would recover everyone between fights. Since everyone could go anywhere without aggro, we could just skip over anything that looked problematic and go kill something that we could waylay on its own.

I kind of want to do this again sometime with more rogues, it was fun.

I did a really successful HS group once that was 1 monk 4 Necro 1 ench. Necros took turns dark pacting the monk and everyone had pets.

Iiiiinteresting! I think I've only grouped with the latter, lol.

Some awesome groups here! Being factioned in SG had never crossed my mind, lol. That sounds completely bananas!

And that's awesome about the 4 necros, 1 monk and 1 ench lol. Definitely unconventional!

Yeah, you can't raise SG faction and everyone starts out threatening, but anyone with a +faction effect who has never killed there can be non-KOS. The enchanter of course has faction boosting spells, and the cleric had a pre-nerf ornate velium pendant.
