Hello all found out about this project through a former eq2 guildmate. Never played eq1 back in the day was eq2 then wow.

First about myself 35 year old long time gamer In eq2 i played a templar and in wow i played a restoration shaman. So i seem to adapt to the healing role pretty well, thus i decided to roll a cleric. I actually found about this place last week took a couple days to get a copy and installed and while that time ive been trying to read up and soak up as much information as possible about the game.

I understand this game is really hard compared to what im used to and i am ok with that, I understand that clerics are very hard to solo and i am ok with that. I will group when i can and solo when i need to no big rush. First and formost i want to learn the mechanics of the game.

I rolled a halfling cleric because of the exp bonus that i read they have and its a female because lets face it would i rather look at a digital chicks ass or a dudes? Anyways sitting outside of the gates to this Freeport city was led hear ona quest to tuen in mail and along the way a zone or 2 back i picked up a quest to get orc picks. Saw some here when i came through so gonna get them also see skeletons which i read can be sold to players for some money?

Anyways More or less just wanted to say hi and if you have any advice or pointers at all id be more that appreciated for them. I in turn will do as much out of game research into my class and the game as i can. Im one of those type that feel i am a good mmorpg player(raided highest tier content in both eq2 and wow) i learn quick do research and feel that this will be a great game to really test myself out.

Sorry long post look foward to meeting some new people!

One of the hardest classes to do stuff in the game, but everyone will be your friend, or want to pay you for rez's. Make lots of friends, you will rely on them for leveling.

Cleric is actually much more soloable in P1999 than on live because your root spell is much more effective here than on live.

Welcome aboard. Holler at me in game if you need any clerical advice!

Quick question..is there someplace i can find out what drop stuff seels to players on project 1999? I read bonechips but spent 15 mins in ec trying to sell a stack with no luck, also just got a high quality wolf pelt, is that something to try to sell? or vendor it?

Also Hedbonker /wave talked to be a bit in game and mentioned banded armor..im seeing that its a crafted item through blacksmithing. Is this something i can do pretty easily from the get go or does it take a bit of seed money? Again thats you to the random buffs im getting from random strangers that run by me, I am already happy and amazed at the first impression im getting with this gaming community.

Banded armor will takes a lot of effort to craft by yourself (as you need to invest a lot of cash into getting your skill high enough for it), as a first time player, you better off just saving up cash and buying it from others.

If you don't have any armor at all atm, you may try to make yourself some Patchwork armor, which is very easy and cheap to make - you will be lots of Small Ruined pelts for that - kill low level wolves

NOTE: as halfling, your armor size is SMALL type, keep that in mind when buying items - your race needs to be listed on it. Or you may end up getting some awesome armor, only to find out that its a large size =)

As general pointers:
-Bone Chips, Quality pelts, Spider Silk - can fetch you good coins from other players

Alright we need more clerics!
When you get some money I can make some banded for you at cost (about 40pp or something like that). But a good weapon would be more important. the bone chips should sell eventually so hold on to them but the wolf pelts i would just vendor if no one wants them soon.

only got 2 level 4 last night but so far its not too bad i like seeing where eq2 came from so to speak meaning i recognize alot of the zone names and what not but its interesting seeing how they are origionally. Yesterday some necro was killing guards in rivervale and i was lucky enough to be able to loot the shields off the corpses so i ended up netting about 20p in cash and i bought a full suit of leather armor off one of the venders.

Gonna sink some more time into it as soon as i can typically during the weekends i have to play wow with my wife(ugg) so not sure how much play time ill get in this weekend. Anyways thanks all for your help and sugestions and still having a great time with this game!

As a cleric, you're going to find buying spells to be the most important (and the most difficult) part of starting afresh. So you'll want to save the majority of your cash for doing that. Armor with high AC will help you if you intend on soloing, but clerics are a group class that is highly sought. At lower levels mobs can't do damage so rapidly that you really need to boost your AC (tho it still helps) and you'll be better off making sure you can purchase your spells and then if you have some extra pp after a spell level you should look into getting some jewelery to boost your hp/mana a bit.

I frequent Misty/Rivervale a lot (to murder guards), if I see you or you see me sometime this weekend send me a tell. I've got a decent 1handed weapon in my bank that you can have. My IGN is the same as my forum name.

Careful wit hyoru username at first I read it as Eternalboob. Why would I want to stare at 'noob'? Gah, the questions! Noobs don't stop asking them! Boobs, boobs! All I see are boobs...

Be prepared for long stretches where you get mad and question your sanity about coming here. But if you play for a while you will become numb to the growing pains. As long as you find groups and always have a goal in mind for yourself you will be fine. If you get bored, go away fro a while. I do it all the time. Don't stay if it makes you mad or bored. But while you're here, there's lots to do and see so enjoy your stay.

It's very common to go away for a while and come back later.

Lol, I think you need to check your phobias if you choose a halfling chick's ass to stare at just so it's not a dude. :p
