So I'm thinking of getting a tablet to play eq on the go. Does anyone have xp with doing this? I'm looking at

https://www.t-mobile.com/tablet/samsung-galaxy-tab-s4?sku=610214659101

Off the top, do you guys think this can run p99 smoothly with no problems? Any recommendations?

I know it sounds like a really dumb question. Tablets are more portable than laptops. I just like the idea of busting out my tablet on the go and grinding some EQ.

Can play it on a windows surface by default. Another route is to add a custom game in steam on your pc and use the built in streaming option to stream it to your device. I've played on iOS this way.

You can almost get a surface pro at that price, which is what I play on a lot while I'm traveling.

So would that run eq pretty smoothly? I dont want to buy something that's going to run it like balls

Well, your first choice won't even run the game.

Your best bet for running EQ on a tablet:

1) Make sure the tablet runs x86, and *not* ARM architecture. If you buy a tablet that is ARM-based, you cannot run EQ on it. Ever. The architecture of the processor is the only reason why EQ hasn't been ported to work on phones and such.

2) Make sure the machine is capable of running Windows XP or higher with a dedicated graphics card (WITH drivers installed) with at least 256MB of ram. Anything with a Nvidia, AMD, or high-end Intel Integrated card would work.

3) Make sure that your tablet has a keyboard or supports a keyboard and mouse and has at least 1 USB port, or at least has bluetooth support. Contrary to popular belief you can't play EQ with a touchscreen.

4) Avoid Android, Chromebooks and other such garbage as they won't run the Windows master race.

5) Just use Shadow and skip all of the above.

Yes, the Vega 8 IGPU even allows you to run AAA games at 1080p , 30-60 FPS depending on low/high settings.

Windows surface pro I use at work and it has an i5 processor and decent enough graphics to play eq well on. I’d just make sure to get the keyboard attachment and a mouse for it

I play on a surface pro. By default it works like a tablet, but you can attach a keyboard and use a bluetooth mouse and it becomes a pretty lightweight laptop.

Yeah you need a laptop or a tablet-like laptop. An Android or iOS device will not work.

A bit off topic but wasn’t there a PlayStation EQ game too? What ever happened with that?

Champions of Norrath. I enjoyed it. It went the route of most PS2 games - off into obscurity. Hearing my character say "it's too much" 100x after mashing the "pickup loot" button was amusing at first, and quickly got annoying.

This was a good game. Similar to playing baldur's gate.

I've gotten EQ to run on Linux and Mac OS, even saw a video of someone (years ago) running it on a Nokia or Blackberry phone. SInce the Samsung Tab 4 is a Qualcomm CPU with ARM architecture and runs Android OS maybe it can be done but I don't know what Android OS developing would allow.

I couldn’t imagine playing on a phone or touchscreen tablet. Maybe if you travel a lot and wanted to sell or chat from you’re hotel room I can’t see how you could efficiently play the game. Lap top and mouse is a must I think, and even then playing on a small screen laptop would be hard I think. Maybe I’m just spoiled with a decent computer (1999- AMD-K6 3 with 19inch crt and a massive 32 gb voodoo3 graphics card or to my present entry/mid level game Amd 8350 black edition with 8gb video) lol

Yeah, that sounds like a nightmare. Too small for precision gameplay. Maybe good for tunnelquesting though. Play the game on PC at home and tunnelquest on tablet at work sounds legit.

Really depends on class. I was able to cleric on an eeepc with a 10" screen or w/e it had. Great battery life too! All I needed was F keys to target group members and alt + # to cast heals. Tab target to root adds and you're golden.

Yeah. I could literally buy a decent laptop for a grand. It's for eq. I might go even cheaper. I play very old games. Baldurs gate and other infinity engine games and eq. I think laptops these can handle that

I recommended the Dell Ryzen 5 13.3'' 2 in 1 laptop since it's affordable, powerful, and compact. It also has upgradeable RAM, so you can get 16 GB of Dual Channel crackin' which the Vega 8 iGPU part benefits from.

You can save half your money and be set for all your old games & EQ.

Cause I was bored here is the video of EQ running on a Motorola Droid (thought it was Nokia, my bad):
