Are Paladins and Shadowknights seeing a large melee damage increase with this recent patch? If I am reading the notes correctly, they are now close to warrior melee damage?

Thats impossible since they can't dual wield.
A knight with an end-game 2h may out parse a warrior using lower tier weapons, but apples to apples there isnt a comp

How does 1h and 2h compare on a warrior since the 2h buff anyway?

There’s also something to do with a bonus damage being added to weapons based on their delay - larger delay weapons having a larger addition to their base damage in the “invisible calculation.” It’s somewhere in the wiki here, but seeing as how most Knight 1h weapons are essentially godly ratios (making up some lost change on account of a lack of dual wield), even 1h weapons should be seeing a white damage buff - no?

Something tells me they didn’t buff the minimum damage like they did on live. I think they decided to try to balance stuff their own way

Nope, 1h should have fixed bonus based solely on the user level, only 2handee should have a delay based bonus, and much larger than 1hander

Between the patch notes and this post, I'm still not sure how my damage has increased. Has my max hit increased, has my hit ratio increased? I use 2H primarily (Plane of Sky SK sword currently until I loot a Soul Leech) but if 1H and shield is better dmg now because of the patch I can switch out.... I actually prefer having a ton of extra AC and stats and equippable effects from having two items equipped as opposed to one in my hands.... but I like the big numbers from the 2H.... my previous max hit was 169 or 170... not exactly sure.

My max hit(sitting pc) as gone from 225 to 245 with epic... And it seems that the average hits already went up on mobs, with epic
Max hit increases seem meaningless. Are we missing less is the real question. I haven't been able to log in to play around with it myself yet so someone chime in!

I haven't had a lot of time to test but the little I did I could definitely tell a difference. Its not huge but my top end damage was higher, low end was higher and the hits were more consistent.

I haven’t seen myself slashing for under 50 with my epic yet. I used to hit in 30’s and 40’s with epic but haven’t seen any numbers under 50 yet. I’m seeing more high 180’s and low 200’s more often. Haven’t tested this on harder mobs yet.

Similar results here using the same weapon as you. Most of the increase in maximum/minimum hit relative to pre-patch appears to be due to the damage bonus change, although hit distribution also appears less prone to producing strings of low/minimum hits like before. Haven't really checked accuracy yet, although I don't expect much drastic there.

You used to be able to see your damage bonus as a warrior by waiting for a crit and comparing the crit text vs the actual hit text.

Anyone able to parse an overall dps Increase here?

I have some info from my 60 paladin, here are the details:
I have logs of her tanking in the graveyard in Chardok using 2handed weapons, one from 2 months ago and one just completed a few hours ago. On caster mobs I use epic (http://wiki.project1999.com/Fiery_Avenger) and on non-casters or undead I use Great Spear of Dawn (http://wiki.project1999.com/Great_Spear_of_Dawn) for a little extra dps.
From two months ago:
Combined 2hander dps: 44.9
Epic avg hit: 77
Epic max hit: 177
Spear average hit: 110
Spear max hit: 256
And from my session in graveyard today:
Combined 2hander dps: 59.2
Epic avg hit: 103
Epic max hit: 206
Spear average hit: 144
Spear max hit: 295
My equipment has not upgraded in any way since two months ago. I'm sure there's some randomness in the numbers, but I don't think randomness or slightly different buffs accounts for the full 33% boost I see here. I threw in the avg and max hit numbers because the dps increase wasn't just using the higher dps weapon more - both weapons hit harder on average, and both weapons hit for higher max hits. The boost is real, it's just a matter of teasing out what the real percentage is. The rogue in my group was pleasantly surprised, I'll say that.

Haven't had good parse yet, but there's definitely a flat increase by hit from the damage bonus, and hits seems a bit more consistent... Through that second part is hard to confirm

I’ve noticed my 49 SK connecting a LOT more on red targets, too. Fwiw. The 30% previously reported (above) seems a bit high at lvl 49, but I haven’t maxed skill yet. Lots more white damage. Lots of connecting hits.

I’ve seen an increase of somewhere between 30 and 35% increase in dps on my paladin using
https://wiki.project1999.com/Natures_Defender
Damage bonus is now 40 per swing, nearly 30 more damage every hit. We’re on the same damage tables as warriors now so I’m seeing slightly higher DI spread. We still have lower offensive skills though so more misses are to be expected and warriors also have the triple attack advantage.
All in all I’m happy with the changes. The damage increase is very noticeable.

Borak, your numbers are legit. I'm seeing very similar numbers, too, as well as what everyone else is saying. I super stoked!

I was very stoked for this patch.
I was very dissapointed, my meljedins hit max at 250dmg 45/38 but my weighted axe at 45/150 hit for 350dmg...
so there is a bonus for very slow weapons but it is WAAAAAY lower than in classic, or they changed it further in Luclin.
I was looking to hit 500+ and getting my SK epic over 300dmg. No, my expectations were halted. To add insult to injury the delay on the new weapon is chared with the former weapon so you can't start combat with weighted axe, luck out a 1kdmg double attack, swap over to standard weapon and start chewing...
Guess that came in Luclin...
Glad for you guys who enjoy what you got, I'm done

Wonder if this actually means Natures Defender is equal to the Fiery Defender now, given the slight +delay. Either way, it sounds like root jousting has become more viable and Earthshaker just went up in value.
30% damn, anyone have palladius and tunare sword parses yet?

Epic used to be 6.7% better. It’s still better but by a smaller margin of only like 3.1%. 46 delay is a sweet spot with 40dmg bonus. 40 delay has 34 which is a bit worse even though it swings faster.
I prefer the slower delay, graphic. and the 45ac over epic, but if I had both I’d always use epic for the bash.
Prior to patch I was always torn. 27/29 hate blade and ND damage were really close with ND usually winning only thanks the the proc. 2hand damage for me is now significantly better so the choice is easier.
-45ac means more mitigation than 25ac on my shield
-46 delay so far fewer ripostes
-proc is nice for aggro
-ND is much more dps
Shield/sword now only come out if I need to bash a caster or if I need to low aggro dps as I don’t have a comparable ratio 2hander without a proc.

If your entire reason for quitting eq is that the 2h dmg patch doesnt do enough dmg for your liking you should prob seek help

Ouch... 25ac?what a horrible shield! I thought you had better... I still don't have a valid tanking 1hander but my shield is already much better...

Most every shield over 25ac is nodrop. I’m not dropping 20k on an orb of infinite void for an alt. A better nodrop shield will eventually present itself.

Right, 25 AC is about standard on non-high-end shields. That's what I've got, too, for the very rare occasions I ever use a shield anymore on my Shadow Knight. Main alternative for a Paladin if you aren't an Erudite is the 30 AC no-drop shield from Plane of Hate which of course has to actually drop when you're on the Paladin to loot it. 25AC on a shield can be worth more than 45 in another slot if the player's over the AC soft-cap. Pair it with a Jeldorin (too expensive for an alt) for maximum defensive effectiveness.
