The black wrench thing behind the Necromancer's class logo is supposed to be a Heretic's Fork, a medieval era torture device for witches and sorcerers

https://i.ibb.co/VTZf4HZ/image.png

That along with the fact that I (https://wiki.project1999.com/Trucidation) learn (https://wiki.project1999.com/Covetous_Subversion) a new (https://wiki.project1999.com/Cajole_Undead) word (https://wiki.project1999.com/Defoliation) every (https://wiki.project1999.com/Conglaciation_of_Bone) time (https://wiki.project1999.com/Trepidation) I google (https://wiki.project1999.com/Pyrocruor) the name (https://wiki.project1999.com/Cavorting_Bones) of a (https://wiki.project1999.com/Rapacious_Subversion) Necromancer spell (https://wiki.project1999.com/Asystole) leads me to believe the entire theme and design of this class are ridiculously underrated.

Oh man, that thing looks pretty nasty... I don't know if I can look at my Necromancer the same again after learning about that...

I just checked to see if any of my Druid spells have any fun vocab words.

Potential candidates include: Behest, Calefaction, Chloroplast, Egress, Imbue, Immolate, Pogonip, Sundering, Scoriae and Succor.

All of which are real words that I could reasonably see people not knowing before seeing them in game.

Conclusion: EQ is actually an educational game.

/em adds "EverQuest spell-based vocabulary flash cards" to his list of wiki projects ... very, very low on that list ...

Once I went on a date to a museum and found out all the rocks in this game were named after real rocks and surprisingly accurately drawn.

I was pointing out rocks left and right and my date thought I was so smart.

Then I told her about how awesome everquest was until to our date ended pretty poorly.

I learned a valuable lesson that day.

About how much I knew about rocks thanks eq!

You should start adding the definitions to the wiki pages.

The original devs definitely did their homework. Glad to be living in the 2000s, all things considered.

The other week I was in EC, saw a name that stuck in my head so much, the next day I had to get the definition and it mind-wormed* me for another couple of days. Noctivagant Blade is a Blade of the Night Wanderer.

This is kind of amazing. There should be more threads like this

So many metaphors can be derived from an instrument of torture and the necro class. Call me a bit of DnD junkie, but if you follow lore on Liches, the seniormost are essentially decomposed to everything but a skull. In eq, the backbone of the class is the lich buff line, where you sear off your flesh for mana. flesh is but an illusion, and so too is pain. what lengths will you go for necromantic power?

In regards to EQ being educational, besides the vocabulary / Reading comprehension -- Having been 12 when i started to play EQ, I very much learned how to type in EQ.
