13 AC instead of 10.
Can 'reapply' mid battle.

9.9 weight less (although special bags reduce it)
Can cast on others???
Can cast before battles, meaning you don't have to wait for proc, you can use your better weapons straight away. Causing mobs to die sooner and then you take less damage, despite the AC loss?

What do you think?

I'd say Lodi boots because their clicky is on-demand. You can use it as a junk buff to protect better buffs.

I have lodi boots on my ranger, but only really as a soupquest memoire. Yes you can click on other targets.

When doing multiplayer stuff there is usually someone that can cast a better AC buff. Clerics, paladins, enchanters, shamans, even necromancers can cast slot 4 AC. Soloing.... Maybe its worth it? Perhaps it will slightly turn RNG in your favour on the toughest mobs you might face.

The fun of buffing lowbies and like you say the biggest mobs meaning I get external buffs anyway is starting to make me think of switching to boots then.

I just wonder if the increased downtime and damage taken by me from enemies mathmatically means that the clicky is objectivly better than waiting for the proc. Like is that damage worth more than the increased AC. I guess to an extent it depends on how soon it procs... real min maxing hours.

Meanwhile a lot of my gear is shit and I'm not level 60 so I should focus on that haha

False.

I’d just carry the boots and cast as needed.

Literally only good for walking up to someone and saying, apropos of nothing, "I like turtles," then casting the spell on yourself and running away.

Also handy when you see the dumbass rogue demanding an AC buff from the cleric and you don't want to give up the dps for doing the right thing and kicking his ignorant ass out of the group, "here you go now leave my healer alone and keep stabbing".

I'm an AC freak. Still, depending on your gear already those boots would be a nice down-payment on a permanent item (1/3-1/2 the value of an Idol of the Thorned). They are valued higher than cobalt boots and those give you a 8 raw AC benefit vs 9 of the casted spell. I had them on my ranger for a long time and still think they are nice for rangers/rogues/bards...str, hps, and low weight with an AC buff.

In any group situation a sham, cleric, or enchanter will be able to give a much better straight ac buff. Most groups have at LEAST one if not all of those classes.
