In general, if the placeholder or placeholders for a spawn are being killed, that 'camp' can be considered held by the player doing the killing so long as they are keeping the placeholders (or the room if there are no placeholders) cleared and remain within the same zone, do not die, log off or go LD.

Not surprised to see Chortles being toxic again. I was in Lower Guk when Chortles blatantly stole a camp.

There was a group camping ass/sup that was pulling to a spot a short distance away (down the hall, near the ladder going up the tower by ritualist), but in Chortles' mind them not being in the ass/sup room when he showed up somehow was enough justification for him to take the camp.

Despite being told by the group, myself, and another person in the zone that he was in the wrong, Chortles insisted his actions were justified and refused to leave. Unfortunately, the group left not long afterwards. I was hoping they'd petition and not let him steal the camp.

I did see Chortes looking for two resses an hour or two later. Apparently he died due to buggy pathing, which was the reason the first group said they weren't fighting the mobs in the ass/sup room. So, some karmic justice at least.

For open outdoor zones you can claim a single spawn point. This may include SF, Hadden or OOT AC. If you're camping these mobs you need to get FTE within a reasonable amount of time.
For dungeon type zones our general guideline is line of sight(LOS)/agro range. This works for pretty much everything. Couple exemptions may be Fungi King or Captain in Karnors because it's not exactly practical to camp on top or within LOS/agro range of their spawns.

The gms ruled in teppler’s favor on multiple occasions. If ce is taking a normally long to clear emp and ce starts re spawning and the named / ph stays up for a few minutes it becomes fair game if some soloer takes Heiro. Also, a decent person would give the people some window of time to get back to the camp after they die. Deaths happen, but that doesn't mean the second a group wipes you need to roll in and take their camp. Be a nice human being and give them a reasonable period of time to get back and get their shit together before you just steal their camp.

You're right. Per the rules, they can't. But usually when people die they are given a reasonable period of time to return, as a nice and classy thing to do for the player(s) that died. I usually give it ~15 or so, sometimes a bit more depending on circumstance.

It happens often and there isn't any reason to take offence at the act itself. You die, you lose your camp. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on. Find something else to do and be ready for when opportunity comes your way. We're not talking about cutting in bread lines, we're talking about a competitive environment in which people invest their leisure. The move is within the rules of the game and some individuals have far less time to invest than others. how is into fair or reasonable to demand that they subsidize your ineptitude. The road travels both ways too, there is nothing noble about you sacrificing your free time for the benefit of other nerds unless you derive some satisfaction from it. Sacrifice unto itself is waste.

The screenshots from both parties are equally void of a lot of context. They could both be explained away in more than one way. Due to their ambiguity and no further proof we can only conclude that both parties are telling a portion of the truth. The ruling, barring further evidence, should probably be settled on p99 law - you die, you lose the camp. That's really the only fact we get straight from both parties.

Btw, Chortles would be enjoying a 30 day suspension if I was running OBS when this went down. Only reason I didn't turn it on is because the admin permission dialog when you open apps on Windows 10 crashes EQ, so I didn't really want to go LD while he was training me. I don't remember it always being like that. Anyone know how to fix this?

When I forget and do something to cause the admin pop-up, I just alt + enter twice to go fullscreen and back and my EQ resumes.
