There are a number of systems we are still working on. The point of Beta is to allow people to play the base game and make sure that everything that should be locked out is working correctly.

Experience rate has been increased 10x.

Boxing is allowed on the Beta Server.

You will need Files 50e (https://www.project1999.com/files/P99Files50e.zip) to play on Beta, but you can use 50e on both servers.

Not a bad question at all. I would hope that when beta is wiped, the names are available. It would suck to use them in beta and then have them be not available for live green. I made my two.

Only info I've seen on names is:
Character Names
You will not be able to create a character on Green with the same name as a character on Blue, unless you are on the same account that owns that character on Blue. We may also bring the server up early to allow character creations ahead of time. We will try to announce this as much in advance as we can.

My suggestion would be to make the character with the name you want on blue, if you want it on green. And I think they plan to delete level 1 characters from that list so don't create Coolguyfourtwenty on blue and not play it at all.

It let me create a dark elf SK, but when I try to create a woodelf druid it says "Disconnected".

I have accounts A and B. Using account B, I was able to create a character with the same name as a blue character on account A. So the green naming rules as per prior announcement are not in place.

I was also able to create several characters with desirable and common names like Awesome, Love, and Shakira. These names are not available on Blue.

So expect a total wipe. And I guess have fun with beta names, first come first serve!

So, this UI is mega unclassic I can't make the windows solid and can generally not read anything going on in the game. I play with full solid windows like my actual classic UI, and never ever used velious ui.

You can make them solid.

Right click -> Window -> Background -> Texture
Right click -> Window -> Background -> Tint Color -> 0, 0, 0

I can't log in to green, it says I'm missing some file. Blue still works for me though.

Loaded 50e files twice and created char but char will not load. I just keep getting message "The client has attempted to load a different UI Skin while Velious UI is in enforcement. The game will now exit."

I was able to win with few issues. Excellent beta test.

(Aside from some character creation issues with crashing to desktop (wood elf, druid, blonde/blue skin), starting Kelethin looks perfect.)

Are respawns faster for this? Newbie yards in my short experience so far seem to be respawning faster, is this for anticipated overcrowding at launch or am I imagining it?

Chill. Free server, remember? Also, launch is days away. This beta period is to iron out any last minute issues. You can say "THANKS!" for Rogean and team having spent countless hours scouring through EQ to allow you the opportunity to play Green.

Testing green beta server. I crash when making certain race/class combos, such as human qeynos SK and Ogre SK. And I continue to crash when trying to login with those characters again.

Had no issue creating human monk and barbarian shaman.

Since installing patch 50e Advanced Lighting won't stay off. It re-enables itself every time I log in on blue or green.

Its most likely your antivirus blocking the file. It's not a virus, it's just an application they use in the background that flags it. release the file from quarantine and exclude your /everquest directory.

Yeah it doesn't seem to be going any faster - a handful of kills got me about halfway to 2 which seems about normal

Someone explained why it feels slow to me. There's a per mob XP cap, and at level 1 (with 10x XP) a mob will far exceed that cap. As a result, it won't feel 10x fast, because you're not getting 10x XP.

But once you level up a few levels ...Its insanely faster, keep leveling you'll see.

Not a bug. Very high level items have been seeded throughout beta to allow fast leveling characters access to equipment and money.

The latest one only allows me to log into Blue - I get a setup_dll message when I try to log into Green

It's there on the front page ... although I'd think you'd want F.

As for needing to separate folders, you shouldn't eventually, but I think right now maybe the latest beta patches break Blue. They did for me, but I'm on Linux so I'm weird; YMMV.

So I was playing fine this morning and yesterday on Green, suddenly my .dll file was quarantined by my antivirus, crashed my game.
So I went and removed it from quarantine, redownloaded the f file, but now it says it cannot open the output file for the .dll. every other file has been unzipped properly.

Known issue that happens often. You have to get your antivirus program to not see that file as a threat.

What file are you using for blue?

Sounds like you need to make another shortcut as well. Make sure they both point to different folders.

No, Noodles was a meatshield I boxed so I could practice my cleric. In time I got attached to him because I was taking care of him all this while, healing him, buffing him, and he was fighting for me so I was like go Noodles go. I gotta tell you, a Cleric with a Warrior pet is something else :) Noodles didn't die until level 21 and that was due to an npc that was bugged to be kos.

I can't box on Green and don't want to anyway, and my playtime disallows alternating mains, so Noodles has to go sleep. I'm going to miss that big lug.

Tanks boxing a cleric was all the rage back in the day. Even doing full groups, I spent a lot of time in early mornings EST weekends with a guildie who mained an SK and boxxed his cleric, we never needed to wait for heals, just fill the group with dps and an ench/bard and we were xp'ing.

Its kinda too bad we can't have that in limited numbers the way boxing started out very limited back then. But the proliferation of multiple PC's, dual monitor set ups, super fast broadband, no subscription fees and CD's to buy for sub keys for each extra account....just not a good practice for the modern world if you want to maintain any community.

Just look at TAKP - They have a wonderful classic client (even more so than p99), and pre nerf PoP.

However, the community is a dead shell because everyone just boxes and raid logs. EQmac (Al'kabor) definately had boxing >>> but nowhere near to the culture that is on TAKP. EQmac had plenty of solo players and <Temerity> actually refused to raid with boxes. Now anyone who wants to solo box on TAKP is seen as lazy, not contributing, or a hassle.
