Yeah I love people who are downers with all their negativity. You're just chasing the dragon man. You can never go back man. That feeling is gone, it's something you can never experience again.
Clearly these people have not taken enough ecstasy. You get a nice big plate of MDMA and you can go right back to launch day!

The quote was to shit on Ngreth, who was the husband of the chick who ran eqtraders, for saying that it was impossible to have classic back again. When you get into the dev side of things there's a very small but very competitive group of people. In the case of Ngreth, he was just some fucktard who got sucked into the eqlive dev crew because his wife had a large following on eqtraders.com, rather than because he had any dev skill.

Huh. I used to be a huge fan of EQ Traders back in the day, but now those bastards won't take the robots.txt off their message board, which means no one can access the wealth of classic tradeskill info from that board that is in the Wayback machine.
In other words, I used to like them ... before they decided they couldn't be arsed to remove one file so that we could have more classic tradeskills :( Now that story just adds to my annoyance at them.
P.S. Welcome back.

One of the first things I did on P99 was revamp the tradeskills. At the time, there was a player named Astarothel who was exploiting the status of the peq db to manufacture non-classic items, as well as players who were abusing platinum ruby veil resale values. I spent a lot of time basically overhauling the tradeskill database from scratch so it's extremely unlikely that there's anything that was missed.

The problem now isn't that the info is wrong, it's that it lacks information about when stuff was added. The old EQ Traders message board would have been handy for tracking down some of that info ... but really we can probably find all that with just Wayback and the main site.
The real reason I wish I could read the old message board was ... maybe as an old school tradeskiller you'll remember this, and it's something that bugs me about the tradeskill implementation here. On Live, I remember it being very well established wisdom that success/failure did not impact skill-ups. Like it was a common myth that they did, and the people who were seriously into tradeskills did experiments and stuff to prove it was a myth.
I know memories are crap, but I remember that "truth" very strongly from old school tradeskilling. The biggest reason I want access to the old message board is so I can find proof to make them work classically here (ie. make skill-ups independent of success/failure).

Yeah sadly it's no accident that robots.txt file is there, they moved on to work for SoE and even though SoE is gone, the people who came on to dev were fairly bitter that so many people preferred the original content to the stuff they were churning out. So that robots file is not likely to be removed.

If by that do you mean am I still going to shut you down spectacularly as ever? Yes.
For everyone else's perspective, during my era in server history, there were newbie-ending vendor bugs, a lot of work to go before Velious, people paying a company in India to DDoS the server over end-game bs, others exploiting major economy-destroying dupes, and generally no one answering petitions for most of it.
My priority was making sure people actually had a good time, and when people experienced real problems, I bent over backward for those people and spent as much time as that took. Everyone else got exactly the amount of attention they deserved in that grand scheme.
So back to you: If that meant you got treated like a toddler who was acting up, you probably deserved it. Sorry not sorry about your feelings, can't say I remember you as much as you remember me.

I don't know what fishbait did exactly, but you literally banned me for asking a question about the server rules.
Imagine this. It's like I go in to a hardware chain that I have fond memories of as a child. I ask the Employee of the Month about the return policy, then he proceeds to cuss me out. When I ask why, the employee then calls me a baby, claims I'm trying to piss him off on purpose, and says I deserve it.
I think your very knowledgeable about the job, and very skilled when it comes to hardware...but maybe the help desk wasn't he right place for you.

With all due respect, I don't think that is true. I think you're telling yourself that to assure yourself and remove self doubt.
I remember AM widely mocking other guilds across the forums for being unable to down targets, and themselves having a 100% success hit rate.
Obviously their claimed infallibility was not true, but doubtless there was still room for plenty of fun and success, even on small targets, in that guild.
I posted the following in their guild recruitment thread:
https://i.imgur.com/OS4gOrh.png
It was an instant hit, and many people memed the image elsewhere:
https://i.imgur.com/6mVZmY1.png
https://i.imgur.com/lS6OEjm.png
https://i.imgur.com/ZELS2iv.png
However, despite the popularity of the image (both in and out the guild), I took it down from their guild recruitment thread and issued an apology as I knew it was wrong.
After taking down the image and issue the apology I received a ban for the post, which I 100% do not dispute, and 100% endorse; it was easily construed as trolling in a guild recruitment forum; not allowed.
So as you see, perhaps you need to redress your confidence. Mistakes happen and there isn't a complaint for every disciplinary action, likewise we can't ascribe every complaint at a disciplinary action 'par for the course'

I really hate to disappoint you but - do you seriously think that I remember what you're talking about? This has stuck in your craw for a decade?
Rules are rules, peace has to be kept, and in 2011 this was a volunteer project with 1200 players on at any given moment and 3 people AT MOST to deal with everything. The amount of disputes VASTLY exceeded the time available to address them. There's no self-doubt or hand-wringing over decisions. You don't expect you get them all right. You do the best you can and you move on.
You obviously knew what the rules were, but chose to push your luck regardless, and then really expected that you'd get to turn it into a ten hour jury trial? Over a forum account that takes 2 minutes to make? Ain't nobody got time for that. And nobody should feel bad for telling you to suck it up. Not even now.
But if you need to turn this thread into a group counseling session for ten year old complaints that no one can change, then be my guest. Personally I'd be embarrassed, but you clearly need the catharsis and closure.
It doesn't take anything away from me. I don't even remember who you are.

Was this in reply to me? You seem to have completely missed the point of my post.
You had nothing to do with my disciplinary, and i don't expect you to know or care. I am not looking for sympathy or some kind of ammends.
The point is, you said for every disciplinary there is someone who disagrees with it. I pointed out that is demonstrably wrong through my personal experience.
People have accused you of glossing over details, jumping to conclusions and a refusal to look back. I'm not saying your reply to me is doing exactly these things, nor am I willing to take heed to your haters and refuse to give you the benefit of the doubt, but i think this might be the last time I try to open a dialogue with you. It looks like such action may result in unpredictable consequences.
Anyway, good luck on your return to the post. All the volunteers here are what make the game, whether CSR, bug testers or players.

Indeed.
I think what it all boils down to is that Uthgaard didn't finish reading Jimjam's post. He saw something about a GM ruling, stopped reading/thinking, and replied with a dumb reply.
But look, if you were a GM, and you had read eighteen million posts of people bitching over the (100% legitimate) rulings you've made (while volunteering your time to help people), your brain would very likely do the exact same thing: it would automatically become defensive the moment you see anyone bring up a past ruling, and you'd think "this is just another one of those losers bitching". And even more so if you haven't been around in awhile, and don't know that Jimjam is a stand-up poster.
Clearly Jimjam had no hostility in his original post. But, anyone with a brain ... and especially anyone who appreciates people who volunteer their time, to let us all play on a free 20-year old elf sim ... can forgive Uthgaard for an easy-to-understand mistake (undoubtedly one caused by the trauma of having to deal with all of us losers as a GM).
And at the end of the day, ibso is correct. Everyone here is a loser: we're spending our free time talking about a 20-year old game :)

Depends on how much money they took from players looking for advantages, or items they stole from accounts they had banned to to then RMT and give away said items, or items they'd given to females from banned accounts in exchange for friendly cyber/flirting, or giving out spawn timers to various females over the years on rare occasions.
Or just outright banned peoples accounts in game for forum posts they had made exposing them for the above.
Or unbanning people who paid moneys, unbanning people who were banned for various reasons, changing names back and changing peoples names for donations/info etc. Having 'little birds' and 'spys' who were enticed to 'help' give info in exchange for preferential treatment and guild rulings. Or outright refusing to have civil conversations with guilds and raid banning them multiple times even when no evidence is shown.
I mean, sure dump shit on all the ex staff who actively worked and acted to make this place a corrupt, broken, unfair, nefariousn place to play. And celebrate the ones who did well, acted in good faith, continue to do so, went out of their way to listen to both sides, etc etc. Lot of great ex staff here too and that's forgotten, or their names were overshadowed by others' bad acts.

I ended up taking a 1 year break and when I came back I petitioned and you were able to help me get my 100k back, over a year later...you even delivered it to me as Fippy Darkpaw lol. That really made my day bro.
I always thought you were an awesome dev/gm.
That's some cool shit.
Thanks for stopping by again Uthgaard. I, too, remember your harsh but fair punishments. And don't mind all the haters who are still salty. I can speak from experience: if you eat a ban on Project1999, you probably had it coming to you.

Behind every account action, there's someone who doesn't feel like it was deserved and has a story where they're the victim. Sorry you're still mad about it, but have a great day, and try to move on! There's no vindication for you here.
I was extending a hand of friendship, and inviting you to enjoy Green as one of us. A player.
I don't need vindication, Nilbog unbanned me within an hour because he strongly felt the ban was undeserved.
You sent me a passionate tell afterwards and threatened me. I'm not mad, but I wonder if over the years you have grown in wisdom and patience.
If you were sincere about your apology then I accept it, and welcome you back.

One of my fondest memories on P99 was watching his EC meltdown. Xzerion sends his regards.
Haha I remember this - Minten

Uthgaard is the man and if you disagree you're probably a scummer or a scummer supporter. A beacon of integrity and EQ development prowess, you were sorely missed after your departure Uth.
