Do you think that the whole "darkness" thing will make people stay away from creating a character amongst the blind trilogy? Or do you think it will pull more people towards it for a "challenge"?

I see what you did there.

I think both answers are correct. There are groups of people that will lean one direction or another. Some people want to bask in the classicness, the more painful the better. Others want to exploit the easiest and quickest paths to whatever their goal is (domination of some sort usually).

I don't think it changes much, but people will at least create an alt of the sight impaired, either for nostalgia purposes or for the folks who didn't play in-era.

Oh, even on Blue/Red, there have been players that avoid playing Bar/Hum/Eru because of their poor night vision. There will definitely be people who avoid them on Green. I’ll bet even more than on Blue, actually.

I also think items with light sources or vision boosts will be of surprising value on Green. Examples: Glowing Stone Band (http://wiki.project1999.com/Glowing_Stone_Band) (odd band name), Pearlescent Mask (http://wiki.project1999.com/Pearlescent_Mask) for monks, of course the T-crown.

Items with Serpent Sight (http://wiki.project1999.com/Serpent_Sight) (infravision)
Items with Deadeye (http://wiki.project1999.com/Deadeye) (infravision + see invis)
Items with Ultravision (http://wiki.project1999.com/Ultravision)
Items with Chill Sight (http://wiki.project1999.com/Chill_Sight) (ultravision)
Items with Truesight (http://wiki.project1999.com/Truesight) (ultravision + see invis)

Anything else?

It will have a negative impact. The racial ability to see will be valued again.

Those races weren't too popular anyways so not going to change toooo much.

And their weaker vision was a factor even with titanium client where it wasn't such a hindrance.

poor erudites blind as hell and in the worst starting zone in MMO history for a new server. Level up in that shit hole to 12 cause you can't count on getting a bind in qeynos. Was even better in original vanilla when the boats could be bugged for hours to days on end, and when it finally arrives, dumping your ass in the water in the next zone.

It really honestly makes you wonder how long it took for that first Erudite to quit? How many just was like "To hell with this, I'm re-rolling"?

I was going to start as a barbarian shaman, will probably be a Best Elf of some sort now, maybe a cleric or necromancer.

I went from dark elf to erudite just to do cheesy quest stuff in qeynos, and as soon as they patched in night vision i NOPE'd out of there.

My first ever character in Everquest (live) was an Erudite Wizard.
He made it to level 3 hunting blindly in the dark before I said exactly what you quoted above, lol.

Re-rolled that night and never looked back.

Same.

13 year-old me had read about the Shield of the Stalwart Seas. I was like man-oh-man I want that. So I get my game installed. Log in and create an Erudite Paladin as my first character. I got to level 2 I think with a Rusty Two-Handed Sword. Night fell and I got overrun by a pack of skeletons. I ended up running out into the pitch black three or four times before I just logged out and deleted the character.

people are cowards, especially in MMO's, i take this as a treat that will immerse me further into the game, the populace takes it as a mechanic than cuts into their "efficiency" in a 20 year old emulated game because they need to now use a inventory slot for a firebeetle eye , which i did for years on blue anyways

Third Option: most people arent going to make racial decisions because of sight.

My cousin rolled a female barb shammy back in the day. When he died in Blackburrow he would have to use the lvl 1 dd shammy spell on himself to see while he was running through the cave back to bb.

It can be bad, but i like it.

Even with a fire beetle eye, I got turned around in the Surefall Glade tunnel on my human ranger and zoned back accidentally. Ran into a red con skeleton and died too cause I couldn't see it 10 yards in front of me. I love it.

Ask druids in the newb zone to summon a firefly globe for you if a fire beetle eye isnt cutting it.

What level do mages get the summoned ammo slot infravision stone?
I love that these kind of spells become relevant again!

Summon Wisp is a lvl 4 spells that summons a Wisp Stone as a light source

Yeah, level 4 for mage lightstone (https://wiki.project1999.com/Summon_Wisp).

Level 1 for druid stone (https://wiki.project1999.com/Dance_of_the_Fireflies) (15 for rangers)

And cleric/paladin/druid/wizard get Halo_of_Light (https://wiki.project1999.com/Halo_of_Light) in the teens or low 20s

Those may or may not provide a similar light radius to fire beetle eyes, I'm not certain.

Mages get more though too!

Level 16 is heatstone (https://wiki.project1999.com/Summon_Heatstone) for serpent sight

and 29 for coldstone (https://wiki.project1999.com/Summon_Coldstone) 5ac and ultravision, ammo slot wearable! Good stuff!

These basically change your vision type rather than being a light source, so super useful.
