Is there any benefit to playing on BETA?

isnt this server gonna be wiped before the 25th? After a lot of thought I want to be on Green, as I have little investment in blue. However if the BETA toons are gonna be wiped i see no reason to play there until launch.

The only benefit to playing on green beta would be to help the community and devs find bugs and fix them before launch. So the benefit goes to everyone else, not yourself.

Sorry to seem selfish, but I just do not want to get burned out before launch. That is the same reason I am not playing my toons on blue anymore until launch.

No problem man. Didn't mean to make you think that, but it is what it is. I hear ya though. I am a big supporter of not getting burned out. Beta testing isn't for everyone!

I logged into Beta to test the UI and follow the instructions to patch the files and make sure my computer has no problems. The small things I don't want to be struggling through on day 1.

I wish it would have been set up to allow those who wished to beta-buff to certain levels / level groupings. If testing were the primary goal of the GMs, that would have been a much more effective way of doing so.

To the OP: I just found a benefit for you to play on the beta:

Log on and try all of the classes that you want to try to help you make your decision. There is a 10x experience boost and you can level really fast to get a taste of the classes and races.

I am kinda leaning toward Paladin or SK since there seems like there is gonna be a shortage of healers and tanks :P. Of course I do have a nice enchanter name reserved...

One advantage you can give to yourself is setting up your UI. If you know the name of the toon you'll play, make a green toon of that name and wet up your UI. The UI files are all by name, so your macros and hot key and UI layout can be done ahead of time.

I went into beta because I forgot how it was at the beginning and knowing zones like toxx forest a little bit so I dont get lost when green start.I forgot about blindfulness so help to see how it is in reality instead of in theory.Now i'm ready for that part on my necro erudite but I still have to figure things like when I arrive in qeynos if I have to jump in the water because every npc hate me lol.

Green BETA is EQ as never before experienced - Easy Mode.

The XP boost means you can easily make several levels per day - some even made level 50 in a few days.

The low pop means few places are camped - so if you know a good hunting spot, then it's yours. Important for making cash for spells.

Platinum hasn't been boosted, so players are mostly broke and actually generous with each other with items etc. And buffs too.

I got given an amazing weapon, and gave away some myself.

The BETA community is friendly, generous, and knowledgable.

A short sweet taste of easy EQ.

10x exp is just not why i play eq1, i went to level 8 and stopped because my skills couldnt keep up with my levels so i ended up being too weak to kill a blue, beta feels like a weird custom server thats only good for testing and not enjoying

Playing a warrior on live, I recall how hard it was to maintain skills on different weason types. Your main hand took a while to skill up even. So you are kind of experiencing classic in that regard.

I took to solo yoloing mobs near my bind in a suicide fashion to grind skill ups until i could actually survive a fight with an xp mob again.

Trick on beta is to skill up hard before level 1s get green con. Use all your weapon skills and get them to 25 before u go to level 5 or whatever. And then on scarabs or whatever abundant level 2 mobs.

With that base u should be fine.

Definitely classic to outrun your skillups. Really classic.

You believe characters will be brought back to level 1, but with skills intact? I thought they might simply be deleted. Or they could be brought back to level 1 and their skills reduced to 0. I'd imagine the devs can accomplish that.
