HI Guys

Helping a friend get P1999 running on a laptop (all he has for now)

It works. Its not fantastic but it works. In cities its a bit choppy.

I reduced framerate to 30 which helped a bit. Any recommendations for improving perforamce a bit please? I realise as it has no actual gpx card we cant expect miracles, just hoping there are some backend settings which may help push it as far as it can go.

He also gets an issue when camping it seems to crash out but thats a small issue for now as when he is in he stays in it seems.

I found some multicore stuff on a forum but i dont think that applies here (i think that entered the eqclient.ini in a much later version of the client)

Thanks!

It would help to list specs

Sure, nothing fancy. DUal core 2ghz, 4GB ram and nasty onboard graphics.

I think its just a lack of power to be honest and the integrated gpu is having to rob cpu time. I was just wondering about any settings which may put EQ into potato mode.

But then again green IS potato mode. No clip plane, no fancy textures.

Anyway i dont want anyone to spend much time thinking, just in case anything jumps to mind :)

He will probably get a newish laptop. Im sure anything made in the last 5 years will utterly boss P1999.

Thanks

So, there's no reason it wouldn't be able to run on any sort of modern hardware. I mean, the game came out when GPU's weren't even a thing.

Have you tried running it with WinEq? It smooths some issues out. There's running the game in compatability (XP SP3). Also, make sure the game is in windowed mode.

I apologize if these are dumb question..
Are all the laptop's drivers up to date?
Are there many background programs running?
What type of storage device does it have?

This should solve the crash on camp. For performance, try reducing your resolution. You might have to run that shit 1024 or less, see what happens.
