I don't know if it's a window 10 thing or what but I hae to manually change the compatibility to windows xp sp 3 every time I restart. Is there a way to prevent this? searching google for the answer was fruitless.

Also sometimes lines of text are being cutoff or something. It's hard o read them, like they were trying to fit the letters into a line that was too small to fit them. I have a o computer/monitor now, and I didn't see these scrunched/cutoff lines before. Any changes to fix it?

It seems like there are a few "stripes" horizontally on the screen that mess up the text if they cross over them. Doesn't seem a monitor issue because it works fine when not in EQ. Strange.

But I figured out the compatibility thing, you have to change them in "for all users" and it will stay set on.

You mean text in an EQ window? That's a known UI issue that's dependent on the width of the window. Try widening slightly.

Even some of the text on the EQ login screen has this weird stripe of crunched text.

did you ever fix the line and text issue? I'm having the same thing on a discreet AMD gfx card and DVI connected monitor in windowed mode. it doesn't matter where I move the window, the line is in the same place on the screen (so it will affect any line in the text box).

Does it look like the images shown here? https://wiki.project1999.com/Tech_Support#UI_Text.2FNumbers_Offset_Or_Missing.2 C_On_All_UIs

If so, it may be a font issue, and that page describes how to fix it.

It looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/Om45uNg

There is a horizontal line, 1-pixel in height, that remains static within the EQ window. Anything this line touches is effectively removed, i.e. a 1-pixel height line is removed from visibility. This is mostly noticeable in text, effectively squashing the adjacent rows together. There are many of these "lines" on the screen, seemingly spaced evenly across the EQ window.

In the first image linked, you can see this line is cutting off the last row of pixels in the MOTD. In the second image link, I have moved the actual UI window in game a little bit so the same line is now striking through the center of the MOTD.

I assume it is somehow resolution related. I play on a laptop with an external monitor. On the laptop screen at 1920x1080 native and matching resolution EQ window, I do not get these lines. On external monitor at 2560x1440 native and matching resolution EQ window, these lines are present.

Ah. Have you seen this thread about running EQ with large monitors (https://project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=275818&highlight=large+monitor&page=5) (I've linked to the last page, as someone did a nice summary there)?

It's mostly focused on the UI, but some of the things suggested (eg. playing with the resolution in your eqclient.ini, using WinEQ) might be relevant.

I'm at 1920x1080 - not a large monitor.

Also, I noticed that if I go from windowed to fullscreen and then back to windowed, it will fix, but often will get a device rest failed error which is obv unsat...
