View Full Version : V52 Messed up Character models
Patch V52 messed up my character models on BOTH BLUE and Green. I have tried countless fixes.. reinstalling EQ... acquired a different version of titanium and installed... installed about 10 different graphics drivers... messed with various settings on my graphics card... NOTHING is working. Please help! just want my EQ back to normal!
This is what i see all the time and wayyyy worse if there are mobs all over.

I've also been having this "black hole" effect with ALL Character models I've been able to see. I've tried everything I could think of as far as graphics settings go. I believe its server side, seems to me there is a "center" of "gravity" "setting" that controls character models especially. Necromancers ignite bones is a good example, giant creatures shrink to normal size and what happens? The Sprite jumps up and down bk its center of gravity is higher then the skele or cyclops animations. I'm thinking it's something similar on a much larger scale of course. Also, didn't live EQ have a similar problem involving spell effects way back when? Don't quote me on that tho heh

Unfortunatly same with me. It's like some sort of spaghettification has happened. Hopefully an admin will post a fix or something.

I'm getting this on one of my computers but not the other as well. On the one that has this issues, I've tried different drivers and a new install to no avail. I then tested with other emu servers, and its only P99 that this happens with and only with patch v52

Would be nice if they could roll something out to get it smoothed out, but with an additional server being added soon... I don't see them having the time for quite a bit unfortunately.

Same exact problem here, character is wack just like that screen shot. Happened after 52 patch. Checked all my drivers and made sure everything was up to date. Everything was working smoothly before the patch. I'm running this on my good ol Klunker
Windows XP Professional x32

It's possible that ya'll may need to be using an older graphics driver. This game is pretty old.

Not crap core I52300 6gb ddr3 old GeForce 7300 GT graphics card in it at moment. Other computer I'm not even trying anymore on with ati radeon9800 and amd 64bit chip. I use to play lot of EQ on both computers I know they're fully capable. Guy earlier in the thread said something about upgrading his graphics card and it started working but crashed now when he logs out...not sure, about to go buy damn graphics card for cheap at best buy.

The computer that I get this issue on is my retro XP gaming machine. Pentium 4 2.6ghz , 1.5gb ram, ATI x1300 256mb. P99 ran without issue on it until the v52 patch, and other eq emulator servers (takp, p2002) run just fine as well

My ATI FireGL V3100 (128mb) on this ancient desktop i pulled out of the closet ran everything very happily until this patch. Then these problems happened so i updated the drivers (for the first time in ~7 years) and no difference, same problems, checked all my directx and everything else for up to date also. It has to be something in the patch they changed. And it looks like most people with the same stuff are running hardware not even near as ancient as this dusty rig. ...Also, Its interesting, it only appears in character models (load screen, and in game [NPC's too for me]). Everything else renders just fine.

It's definitely not a hardware or software issue on the side of the client, it has to do with the patch and server side. Everyone experiencing the same problem has different specs and things, the only common issue is the v52 patch.

I have been running an older machine. Intel core 2 processor, nvidia 7300 gt video card, and windows xp. Everything was running great until this last patch and now my character models are straight outa Fear and loathing in Las Vegas!!!

Seems like...
And this is just speculation, but it seems like everyone who is having this problem is running the game on some impossibly old graphics hardware and whatever solution they’re using for night darkness is designed to run on somewhat modern gpus.

I was really trying to avoid buying a new computer just to play p99. I have an nvidia 7300 gt card which I know is quite old. Anyone have a suggestion for an upgrade on video card that won’t break the bank but is an upgrade?
I went on facebook marketplace and picked up a Geforce GTX 970 used for $75 bucks... and i can now play EQ again with no graphical issues... i previously had a Geforce 7900 GT (which was quite old) ... sucks i had to do it.. but i had wanted a better graphics card for a long time anyways... is it the best out there? hell no... but i can do a lot for what i have now. Good luck folks! Hope they find a fix for those with troubles still.

Seems lame that all of a sudden it would require something completely different than the past without an actual explanation or warning for those liking to use older machines. EQ can be run on much older systems and now with p99 and the "new" classic server it requires more state of the art stuff now. If that is truly the case it is unfortunate and for access reasons I hope there is a fix as well so it doesn't limit the people who want to try it out.
I can use a different machine, but with the whole aspect of their .dll and such I just put it on a really old desktop with only the game on it. So, in my case I'd rather not move it over to a system with more sensitive information and things that I use frequently.

I’m pretty sure you could order something like a GT 610 for around $10 and be fine.
I really don’t think that is asking too much. My second generation i5 laptop runs green no problem on integrated graphics. So...literally any GPU made in the last ten years would probably do the trick.

It is what it is, but at the end of the day it's unfortunate that after 10+ years now all of a sudden it is an issue on the 52nd patch. Seems they could keep it universal as it was before. Will wait to see an official statement though.

Ten years of Beta, and then they added necessary features to the final game that require a less than ten year old GPU.
Happens all the time in early access.

Who knows. There are a couple strange issues with this game. I haven't even been able to play since february since the game, or at least this server, doesn't support my CPU. I had a solution that fixed it but since i updated to windows 10 i can no longer do the fix.

I have a 4yr old i9 with a 1080ti, graphics are fine. I do crash about 80% of the time when going from logout to character select. That just came about with the 52h patch files.

Two fixes for you crashing problem: Either run the game using WinEQ2 or Run the game in Windows XP service pack 2 compatibility mode.

For those of you still having the character model issues, you don't have to upgrade hardware like this one dude is suggesting is the only way. When you patch v52 don't include the RenderEffects folder. If you have the original folder for it from Titanium or one from an older patch overwrite the v52 RenderEffects folder currently in there and everything should be fixed.
That is what fixed it for me finally. So, if you do a fresh install... leave out the RenderEffects folder from the v52 patch.
