Personal experience from the last few days in Unrest and Upper Guk, there are too many druids, enchanters (me) and shamans, and not enough monks, bards, SKs and pallies. More warriors would be nice, but you can usually find one during regular hours. About the right number of clerics and necros, a few too many at certain times. Rogues and wizards aren't uncommon. Mages started to fall off hard around 20, they used to be the most common class and now they're hard to find. I don't know if anyone is actually playing a ranger.

As a tank, who struggles to find a group often.... stop playing powerlevel pet class only groups and you might see less people giving up on / shelving their melees <3
I'm even wondering if clerics are getting groups okay?

I'm a 12 rogue and finding a group is usually easy. But, today is was brutal. Not a group to be had. I'm sure it's different at the higher levels, but I just don't see how anyone with a job can be level 20+ right now.
Overall, I've found that we have a good mix of classes in the 10-15 range. No idea what it'll be like post 20.

I played a rogue on blue during kunark era. Groups totally loved rogues back then - no exp penalty, massive dps, many of them were epicced and stuff already - but it was still a regular thing that you'd sit around with lfg on and asking in ooc for an hour or more without finding a group. It literally was the reason I made my first enchanter on p99.
I'm not knocking rogues. THey're amazing. But being totally reliant on groups? It sucks. It's why so many people play classes that aren't totally reliant on groups!

Most groups will happily take a Rogue over a Magician or Wizard for DPS slot. You can get to the camp easy, you can help with CRs if there's a wipe, if you get agro the tank doesn't have to run around the room trying to get it back, you don't run out of mana and you don't have a pet to cause a massive train.

Rogues that can turn off auto attack when they get aggro are amazing.
There are no amazing rogues. :(
People say they want tanks, but nobody actually wants tanks :p
If you check the /who all X-X LFG of every level range, the tanks are high and dry.

So the Pet classes is the new meta tank class right? Will they be able to tank all the way to 50?
Also, how rare is seeing a Ranger or Bard on your server?
Everquest being nothing but shamans and enchanters is classic(tm)

9 rangers this morning on Teal. I been watching the ranger count since I am one. Only 4 between 14-50 was on

mage pet tanks just as good as a "tank class" in rags as long as everyone is paying attention and has basic knowledge of aggro mechanics.
if you can get the pet to last the fight the regen is insane compared to a player. that mechanic makes pets better tanks as long as they can last the fight with minimal mana input.

very difficult to find groups pre 20.. Like I have argued the server split wasn't necessary the power bottoms will jump ahead and the casual or gamer with a work life balance will struggle with 2 low pop servers to find half assed groups.
I called this
most newb yards are 20 people and adjacent dungeons are empty

If it's hard to find groups it's because most folks (including myself) prefer to mainly solo or duo and usually don't care to invite more. It might be a 1999 game, but it's not a 1999 community.

You ever take a break from bitching about the server split, or is this your life now?

People pick the strangest things to fixate on. I remember folks who quit (or at least raged and said they'd quit) over the stamina bar not working, or over buff timers being removed, or other seemingly trivial nonsense. The pre-split "Green" server population was greater than March '99 servers could even handle prior to later hardware upgrades, and the current populations are more nearly accurate to in-era norms. Maybe he could explain what his REAL problem is, but he's not going to gain much traction claiming that era-appropriate populations are somehow "dead."

I decided to play a shaman this time around and I find myself playing as a discount palladin 90% of the time.
Tanking with flash of light feels too familiar.
Root is nice to have though

i havent had the worst time trying to get a group as a rouge, but sometimes it takes work, if one zone isnt biting i have to move on to the next. Not getting optimal exp, but it is what it is, the higher i get in level the more it works out. After 20 the pet classes will start to dry up, all fighting for spell reaserch to remain useful to the group, but me rogue? oh i am ready with my dagger.

its classic, charmed pets and mages are the best choice
druids are decent for solo as are shamans, making a rogue for classic isnt the best idea.

You can definitely be 20+, the problem is that most people prefer to just sit around LFG waiting for the ultimate group to just fall in their lap. The trick is that you sometimes need to form your own group. Do w alls lfg around your level range and start sending tells. Just like mostly everything else in life, if you want it done you need to do it yourself.

They want tanks not warriors. Wars suck at holding agro.
They dont want exp pen.
What is left? Pets
Mage nerfed... so necro pets.
Melee is hard to find anyway so dont invite them and you are good with pet tanks and casters.

This is my life. Except with Bloodforge Hammer and DoT's. Thank god I have banded armor.

This is also true. Spent some time in befallen today LFG as a shaman. Then a chanter popped in so we duo'ed...so now we have a weird setup where chanter pulls, takes a hit so pet adds, and then I DoT and tank, as a shammy. Then we randomly get a cleric and another enchanter who was high enough to charm and suddenly we have a group rocking and rolling. It ain't perfect, but you CAN'T expect perfection right now. Unless you ARE one of the brave souls who rolled a pally or SK.

My experience, we want any dps, any tank any healer. I never see any group skipping class nor speaking of exp penalty.
People know the game better now, so they start as a caster class and use that to gear up their melee alt. Sounds normal.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought as well. I was perfectly happy with just green, but it is what it is. Whether there are 1k or 2k players online it's a big world. Plenty of niches to find.

Every cleric I've grouped with has said they had no problems grouping (teal).

I'm a necro and if I put my lfg tag on at 30 I get tells pretty quickly. Grouped a lot and duo'ed a lot!
