View Full Version : Locking Multiple Camps While Listed

I see it happening in Najena. Not sure about the other places. They hang out within range of Drelzna list, and claim camps in /ooc like Moosh and three skellies.
Now I have to ask you. Is being on /list the same as "camping"? Even if you're not in the exp group? I'm not too sure! A little frustrating though.

By creating rules they give themselves more reasons to have to admin more things. This is basically a lesson in how government works...

I guess there’s nothing explicitly against it, but it seems like kind of a jerk move IMO

The /list room in Najena is all of 3 mobs. Why wouldn't folks be pulling other mobs while waiting for the boots to drop? Seem odd to me you would expect people not to be. Pulling as many mobs as the group can handle is pretty standard.

Well for one, dungeon camp rules are generally LOS mobs. For two, if you’re there to camp a specific legacy item it seems like the classy thing to do to not try and claim multiple camps and let other people EXP

Yea. That's how I feel about it. Not saying I'm correct here. Just feels greedy, and it did take from me two exp camps. There aren't a ton in Najena.

Just take them back and point them to the general dungeon camp rules.

You have to pick which camp you want to keep when you were previously holding down multiples but someone new has showed up and wants to take one of your camps. Then the newcomer gets to pick which one you did NOT pick that they want to take over.
I don't think you could reasonably argue that the /list mob doesn't count as a camp, nor that anyone would give up on that to maintain a different camp.

This is partly why the server was split into two, imagine if it wasn't.

I would let the server police itself. If someone is being a dick and the server knows, they won;t be in any groups or raids anytime soon.
Not sure why there is a PnP in place anyway TBH. If people just acted civilized there wouldn't be an issue.

At this point, I don't think they'd do it. Only if people start heading back to blue maybe? (which is the end destination anyway)
If they aren't in direct vicinity of the camps.. setup at the camp. It's yours.

Once Kunark is out and legacy is done, things will be much more calm. We're in the thick of it right now for the next few months!

See the issue is, since they were there first, they can just take the XP camp. The list system means as long as they are within range of the /list function they stay on the list. They need not kill, or even touch the mob that drops the item. So they are being nice by helping those ON the list. I plan to XP in najena while I'm on the list, and if you make it so that I can't help the people camping the legacy item kill it, well, then I'm not going to help them. I'm going to stay on the list though.

you say that but you haven't seen this communities propensity for autism. pretty much just assume the worst will always happen.

When Teal and Green merge they'll both be underpopulated so the merged server will be about what it's like now.
Thats.... kind of the point.

It's almost as if the problems are intrinsic to the game and splitting the community up doesn't really solve much.
And that's only if you consider these things problems in the first place. Scarcity of resources is one of the main things that makes EQ unique in the genre. Sure you could instance content and then you wouldn't have to worry about camp disputes, but now you've eliminated a part of what makes this game what it is.

People might actually have to hunt in Runnyeye or Splitpaw, the horror. /s

Runnyeye and Splitpaw are excellent exp for a decent group.

When I /list for jboots I will definitely also be trying to get as many exp mobs as I can. If someone claims a camp and tells me to stop because I don't have LoS then I'll find different mobs.
Also najena is basically empty all the time other than some characters in their teens and the people on /list.

Imagine waiting in a real life line and telling everyone around you. I'm more important than you. I'm going to go get coffee, maybe a bite to eat, do a little shopping and then i'll be back for my place in line.
wouldn't ****ing happen.

But.. this literally happens all the time. From amusement park "fast pass" systems or many call back systems for phone queues now. Online ordering at restaurants. Etc etc. Avoiding standing in line while still being in line is nothing new. Like, at all.
