Yeah the quest is working, but the gnolls and the drops are pretty rare. The Jaggedpine Crook was obtained a couple days after Green launch by a super cool druid. His name may no longer be on the Achievements page, but his memory shall live on forever.

bottom half of staff dropped - got Jagged Pine Crook Staff total camp time ~ 4 hours crazy because others have spent 10x that without a single drop.

I did this quest last year in blue when I started to level my druid, was super fun, but I did it over the course of several weeks due to how rare the spawn was.

When I outleveled my little weapon I gave it away to a new druid I saw roaming by, hope he used it for good haha.

An incredible quest, there is another tematic quest from Jaggedpine that involves the gnoll brewer casks, which gives a nice cloak, tho if I remember correctly its a dex one and the hint of further quests like that ... ahh so many quests in EQ! 8)

Where did you camp the gnoll hunters? Surefall entrance against the wall? Or somewhere else?

One of the gnolls that spawn in front of BB entrance can spawn the hunter in addition to the one in front of SFG.

Nilbog nurfed both the spawn rate and the drop rate right before launch, to be more classic.
