Anyone have a ballpark? Or know what a specific piece costs?

Can’t, not home and won’t be for a long time. Figured someone might know offhand. Wiki has no listings for vendor bought plate.

So just better off waiting to buy name drop items that have the plate graphic and actual stats I’m guessing? Not sure when crafted fine plate is added in.

It vendors back for like 90%+ of what you paid, so it's not a terrible investment if you are already w e a l t h y.

For some slots, yes, but there are slots for which there are no un-tinted plate graphic pieces available at this early stage. If you want a complete visible set you'll have to use the (expensive) vendor bought items for at least a few slots. Fine plate isn't added until much later, well after Kunark opens. That's unfortunate since pre-expansion (and especially pre temple of solusek ro) is the period where fine plate would be most useful, but that's how it was.

the BP is 765p or so
the legs are like 405
others are 200-300
here is my plan for shiny plate look
shin leggins
firey vambracers
mithril bp
silver-plated bracer
crested helm
Then you just need to purchase the vendor boots and gloves

The scarab armor for small sizes is plate look, but only consists of the helm, breastplate and boots. It can be got at very low level and recently folks have been vendoring the parts as it's stats aren't great compared with banded.

For most players there will eventually not be much to do than sit in Guk/SolB and gather vendor junk most of the time. The Steel plate prices are ment as a money sink for high level players.

I thought fine plate was added in w/ the crafting rework pretty early on. Where did you find that?
Maybe you are thinking of cultural armor.
