I just realized today that my 35 shammy has yet to have a gate collapse. My laptop has 60ish "you begin casting gate" in it and no collapses. I think I've probably gated another 20-30 times on my PC downstairs and don't recall any unstable gates there either.

Am I just lucky? Are the rest of you still seeing unstable gates?

Heh. I guess I'm just lucky then. Or perhaps there is more to it than a simple random chance. I don't think I've tried to gate away from a few mobs right on top of me. It always "felt" like the gates you really needed to work were the ones that failed back in the day, but maybe it was just confirmation bias.

I've gotten 2 on Ben. Both were merely inconvenient, not deadly. They were a pretty rare occurrence on live.

I've only had 2. Both were when I was in combat but neither was fatal.

gates actually did collapse way more frequently on classic, this feels more classic, however the chain collapsing is not.

Is there any correlation between "collapsed gate" and standing within the hitbox of a dead mob?

Edit: does casting skill have anything to do with it?

Hell if I know. It wouldn't be something you'd want to try testing without a small army of people following guidelines and sharing results.

When a gate collapses I always think a world altering event is going to happen.

I ran my level 10 Enchanter from Qeynos to Highkeep to buy some of the pet spells and my first gate directly after collapsed. People were fighting goblins on the other side of the wall, I imagine people were killing guards nearby as well.

The first time I had a gate fail was when I let my self get really over loaded with weight. I just assumed I couldn't gate due to my unstable fat ass and rolled my self to the nearest vendor.

Always boggled my mind that my Level 60 wizard could send an entire group of adventurers to their own bind points with 100% accuracy (Translocate: Group) but often fail to teleport himself to his own bind point.

It's madness!

Only had a few since I joined teal. But I had more than my share of collapsed gates on Blue and back on live. Enough that I used to keep a ring spell up on the Druid because if I had to escape in a pinch the ring may take longer to cast but it is reliable.
