I am fairly new to a bard and was kiting some mobs where i got more than the 4 limit on aoe after me. After the first 4 went down and i was near the end of the last 3 someone ran by looting all of the corpses. Is this a common thing people do? I know the timer allowed it but curious if this is the norm to loot someones mobs that is obviously going to loot them.

No, they ninja looted which is a suspendable offense. Any mob you did not get xp for, or express permission to loot - you are not allowed to loot. The corpse should rot if no xp/permission.

Happens when people kill guards all the time. You have plenty of time to loot, don't swarm kite if it bothers you.

Wrong. It doesnt matter what the timer says.
The ONLY reason an individual wouldnt catch a suspension is if the loot was extremely trivial - i.e. a Fine Steel weapon.

Your comment makes me think you hate people that swarm kite, but good to know it is the norm. Unfortunately swarm kiting is much more efficient even with a 4 mob cap then trying to chain kill white and yellows as well as much safer so i will continue to do it. I guess I will try to take them to a less traveled area instead

You're not supposed to loot other people's mobs like that.
If I see someone killing guards, and they're sitting on their ass 10 feet from the corpse, I'll assume they've already taken what they want and I'll loot the remaining shield or crude stein. If it's a bard swarm kiting, I will assume they're too busy to have gotten to the loot yet and I'll leave it be.
Seems like common sense and neighborly behavior to me.

How courteous is it to lock up 7 spawns while damaging only 4? You did it because you could and it was convenient. The same rationale applied to the looter. Some post with a green name might wander by and talk tough but nobody is getting banned for looting scarabs.
Swarmkiting bards should ask for no quarter and receive none.

I.e. essentially any loot from something a Bard would be swarm kiting? Lol

Totally agree. I’m not faulting Bards for using the AoE kiting strategy if they want to do so, but to then be like “well you can’t loot anything once I get through my next 4-8 mobs that I had initially tagged solely so you can’t kill them or it would be KSing” is one of the more ridiculous things I’ve seen on P99 lol.
I highly doubt any Guide or GM would penalize someone for looting your meaningless loot while you’re continuing to AoE swarm multiple other mobs that you’re keeping them from killing. Can’t have your cake and eat it too

Social mobs are gonna social. Your assumption is that the guy 8 levels above me who was looting corpses wanted to kill the greens. Or that I have all the mobs in zone "locked up" with 7 mobs...nice mental gymnastics to justify shite behavior

Hmm nice straw man considering I never said you were keeping all mobs in the zone locked up. I said you were deliberately locking up more mobs than you could damage at a time in order to ensure that other people couldn’t kill them so that you could keep your strategy to maximize your own EXP going. Which is true. It doesn’t matter whether you’re locking up 100% of the mobs in the area, the point is that you’re pulling more than you can damage to ensure other people can’t kill those mobs and then you’re whining about people looting corpses because you were busy burning down the rest of the mobs you were locking down. It’s a ridiculous complaint lol. This thread is honestly so trolly and terrible you should’ve posted it in rants and flames.

Conspiracy theory much. More than 4 mobs came due to social aggro big deal...i am trying to withhold mobs from others....what a point of view you have.

So lets assume I am at sisters, kiting the mobs at sisters.
It takes me some time to kill all three sisters, so if someone comes by and just sits there, they can proceed to loot every rotation FOR DOING NOTHING, simply because I'm a bard?

This post seems extremely 1-sided tbh. You offer no context about the other person other than they looted the corpses. Did you even attempt to communicate with them after you saw them loot? Without context its very easy to assume the person just looted the corpses because he saw them rotting. They were on the ground long enough for him to loot so maybe he assumed whoever killed didn't care about the loot. Its very common for people to just leave corpses unlooted if they're not interested in looting shit that doesnt sell for at least a plat or more
Long story short no, there's not a bunch of people out there ninja looting bard swarms intentionally lol

Actually they can even claim a spawn and start pulling one of the sisters.

When I did the named sisters I’d kite 4, sell, kite the other 3 sell, then the original 4 would respawn... no need to pull all 7 like a dweeb

K, go swarm kite as a bard and try petitioning “someone looted one of my kills while I was finishing the other 4-8 mobs I’d locked up” and see if you get a positive response from the staff who are not pro-swarm kiting lulz

Honestly if something is out in the middle of nowhere and noone is around. and its not some huge important item. im going to loot it. ill check timers on corpse but if its been open for more than 3 minutes i assume you are dead or don't care to check your corpses. I don't exactly play by PNP rules because those arn't classic, i play by the classic set of rules of "don't be a dick"
if you follow the "don't be a dick" set of rules, i feel like you end up better off than following pnp. but thats just me. You know when you are ninja looting and when you are not. And if people petition you for looting a mob with 30 seconds left on its timer, chances are they are baiting you into "ninja looting" using the pnp rules.
so you gotta be careful where you step. Just don't be a dick is my advice.

No GM or Guide is banning you for looting a corpse with vendor trash on it that’s lying there in the middle of nowhere lol. Now, if you were looting a valuable drop for a quest or valuable piece of stat gear, or otherwise just consistently looting the corpses of a camp, they’d definitely be punishing you. But to act like they’re gonna have an issue because you came across a random corpse in like EC for instance and looted it? Lolllll

lol, suspension for looting something after the generous loot timer? C'mon.
That's some next-level neckbeard rage right there. Now don't get me wrong, it's not anything I'm going to advocate going around doing, but if someone runs up and loots something I spent several minutes actively not looting, I'm not going to be butthurt about it at all.

Loot timers are there for a reason. I understand swarming is kind of a different beast, but it can be hugely disruptive to the area and all nearby players. If you’re swarming in places where you a) care about the loot, and b) have people around that can even loot the corpses, then you’re kind of asking for it.
Was in HHK the other day and someone kept stealing spawns from my camp so that they could power level another player... and then wasn’t even bothering to loot most of the corpses. Made my blood boil lol.

The rules are clear, but yes, people will often break them. Therefore, OP, and anyone else who is concerned: after a mob or two die, you should run in a straight line to get a lot of distance on the rest of your kite, then loot the corpses quickly, then resume your AE kite tactic. If it's a zone in which AE kiting is possible, this tactic should also be possible.
And folks, remember: these people are only able to "swarm" four mobs right now. That's not exactly zone disruption. Hold your rage for when the 4-mob AE limit is lifted to 25.
If its lootable I loots it.

If the corpse has 10 seconds before it decays I will loot if I see them just standing there. Most of the time common sense will tell you if its okay. If they still in combat maybe ask them or wait.

I corpse lock guards until there are 15 second left, then stand up wait for a noob to grab the FS sword and petition them. Working on reducing Green's population one non-beard at a time.

If a corpse doesn't have it's killer within sight and is lootable, I'll go ahead and do it.
If someone is around I'll ask. I think it's reasonable to just go ahead and loot if someone has abandoned a corpse long enough for it to be lootable.

if someone is kiting more than 4, you can just tag out of their swarm. it's like free pulls.
