You shouldn't be able to hold a camp while /anon

It really sucks when this happens:

1. You do "/ all [zone]" and don't see anyone level appropriate for the camp you want (or in the zone at all)
2. You run towards the zone while periodically checking "/ all [zone]" along the way.
3. You finally get to the zone you want after running across the world or getting a port, and the camp you want is being cleared by an /anon player.

I'm sure all of us have had this happen to us, and I'd personally like to see a rules update to camping policy that prohibits holding a camp while /anon.

To be honest, your only hurting yourself by not responding to Camp Checks. You are inviting more drama into your play sessions than is necessary. A person or group is much more likely to leave you alone if you simply answer a camp check. If you dont, and they clear to wherever the camp is, they will feel invested and are much more likely to cause problems. Just a tip for you.

I've been doing this for a decade and it's never backfired on me to my recollection.

edit - really though, like 90% or more of the CCs I don't respond to are either 1) when I'm AFK or at least alt-tabbed during med breaks or 2) when I'm in the middle of combat and you KNOW that root/charm/whatever is going to wear off the instant you open the chat prompt. When people send me a tell, I respond. The rest of the time I really can't be bothered.

I had something weird along these lines. Chilling in Rathe Mountains and a random anon sends me a tell asking if another anon person is in zone because they don't show on /who all rathe. "Nope - don't see anyone by that name" "ok thanks". Never saw either person appear in zone for the rest of the time I was there so /shrug.

Its the influx of former AM (blue) and Red (pvp) players has corrupted green/teal. Blue is so nice now. Tho population is lower but people are so much more pleasant then on green/teal.

Same, if I wanted to camp something I would just show up at the camp and check it out rather than giving someone a heads up that I was interested in it (and giving them time to possibly rush to the camp first if they were not already holding it.)

Lump me in with the folks who hate /anon and wouldn't mind a bit if it were broken. I don't care overmuch if a player wants to hide, but it'd be nice if a zone returned a player count in the manner of /who all count. Such an idea falls into the "not classic" category so it stays as-is unless the project admins decide they don't like it this way. After a decade that seems unlikely. I see it as part of the bad that I accept when I talk about this game being a case of taking the bad with the good.

I also check camps manually. If calling a "CC" from a zoneline you're just asking a player to call a camp he's not even at or clearing. I've seen it happen many times. Players try some wacky things sometimes. On a couple occasions I've even seen players claim/argue with me over camps when they weren't even in the zone at all so the best policy is being physically present.

Cannot agree more to this. I've had very few issues with people in-game, most seem very nice, but this board seem full of snowflakes. I can't remember if I've ever seen a board with such a frequency of whiners. Relax and enjoy the free game, why take it so seriously?
