Certain items not dropping anymore?

I heard that p99 wants to follow live as close as possible and that on live, once kunark launched, certain items stopped dropping soon after the release. Any reason to why this happened to live? Just want to get down the history a bit, thanks!

Because they were not balanced. So they were either nerfed or taken out of the game. But in order to not piss people off that already had the items that got removed got to keep them. For example mana stones and gem encrusted ring.

10ac, +7str, .1 weight, and the fact that it dropped off level ~30 mobs. It's the best in slot melee ring, and it was being farmed by players that could barely handle Split Paw.

was more about where it came from. Could be farmed by lvl 30s. It should eventually be added back as a Seb drop if what I've heard is correct.
