Near Clip Plane vs. Far Clip Plane

What's the difference? If I set Near Clip Plane for environment/player to farthest, will I see further?

Far clip plane >>> increases the viewing distance of terrain and foliage, etc.

Actor clip plane >>> increases the viewing distance of players, npcs, and mobs.
