The staffs current plan is to merge with Blue at the end of Velious and restart Green. But what about us who choose to keep playing the characters we spent all that time on? They are dumped into the trashheap that is Blue; Inflation is through the roof, economy ruined, everyone's twinked as hell and the early game is dead...Have fun! Really?

I could go on and on but my point is, sending us to Blue will make our characters worthless. Please consider a new server for Green transfers. Blue was the beta phase for P1999 and there is no reason to ever go back.

Not quite... green won't be stagnating for an incredibly long time in kunark, which led to massive over farming of the best drops of that period.

i seriously doubt blue will ever merge with green/teal, though I could see teal/green merging into a single server once velious has been around for awhile. they will have either the green and teal server available at that point so reset one as the "new green" and combine the two on the other server.

That's my prediction anyway.

They should 100% merge green with blue at end of timeline. Otherwise we end having yet another server like blue while everyone is playing on whatever the new server will be. So you will basically have 2 blues on top of the new server. That’s even less players per server.

Think of it like diablo does with ladder seasons. At the end of every ladder, you character goes to non ladder. So we would have all end of cycle servers merging with blue. It will help blue never die. And it will keep the next green fresh and new.

I agree that they shouldn't merge Green with Blue. Instead, they should permanently wipe all characters before opening Green 2.0 to bring EverQuest more in line with the natural cycle of life and death and prevent people from becoming too attached to their pixels.

top blue builds can barely scrape two lockets together but long kunark was definitely the source of mudflation and not some a problem that's intrinsic to everquest, a game with no systemic way of removing items from the game

Of course it matters. it will matter because:

Blue will have a huge and unfair advantage over greal for end game content. Not the biggest deal except for :

Blue never knew it would eventually merge with greal. Likewise, greal never knew they would merge with blue.

Blue will have farmed tons of sought after items in pre-velious time span which will severely impact the greal economy.

Eventual plans of green and blue merging is the only reason I’d play on blue.

Now I am fine if they just merge green with green 2.0 and keep doing it that way.

Yeah I like this idea. Make Green 1.0 the new 'museum' server where all the future greens fall into later. Don't get me wrong I love blue I have a ton of toons there and I don't want them wiped or anything like that. But maybe we should keep green ( and the subsequent greens ) separate.

You used the wrong word. Stagnant servers have deflation, except for items which no longer drop. Look at the price of research words/spells on Blue vs Green. Server merge makes low end items more accessible, not less accessible.

What *exactly* is the problem? That the price of manastones might go up? The price of dagger of manek might go down?

The biggest problem I can see is that the Blue raid force will be better geared than the Green/Teal raid force.

The biggest benefit I can see is that the Green/Teal community will likely be under 1000 people peak based on current population trends and that the population will likely be revived slightly, especially if people will be leaving for Green 2.0.

So the question is: Is keeping Green prices *higher* worth a potential declining population? The economy will break over time anyway, that's inevitable, but the loss of Green's post Green 2.0 population is not.

Its amusing players invested in green/teal want blue to die, so their own wealth/stuff generated from green/teal is saved for future with no competition of blue.

And players invested in blue want blue merged with green/teal so they keep their wealth/stuff and they get bigger community.

Both is greed/fear of loosing stuff.
