View Full Version : Mobs attacking at range?

Anyone else notice this? I had one instance today where a mob smacked me from like... well shurikens are 60 range, I'd say it was probably 25-30 range. SIGNIFICANTLY farther away than normal melee; not a mob that to my knowledge has ranged attacks. I attributed it to lag.

Thanks to insomnia, I've been in blackburrow the last hour or so with a chanter and a bard. The chanter has been throwing a spell on incoming to get smacked so his pet aggros... and the gnolls have been attacking him from like 40-50 units away. His pet charges and engages sometimes even when he said he didn't see an actual attack come in from the gnoll at all.

What's going on? Are some mobs carrying hidden bows and arrows nowadays or is this a bug or what?

mobs can whack you from real far away if you're not strafing (assuming they're behind you)

Lots of gnolls in Blackburrow are archers.

^ Pretty much this. Don't they occasionally drop arrows as well? That's usually a dead giveaway.

i don't often say this but everquest would have been a better game if they had given all mobs ranged attacks instead of making them summon

I was going to say before I clicked this he better not be in blackburrow.

Gnolls have ranged man. About half of them. Even if bow isnt in hand, they throw arrows at you.. Even without arrows. Its always been like that. Thats blackburrow

I'm not complaining. I just didn't remember anything besides like, the centaurs in sk having ranged attacks. Hence the questions I asked.

I have also noticed this on teal, and as different from blue. Mobs that definitely don’t have ranged attacks can hit from very far away. Noticed this many times while kiting. Probably something that got fixed in a patch somewhere.

I've noticed same. Pulling bandits in WK, even at significant distance (20-30 "steps"") I can still get backstabbed as I pull/bring back to group.
