View Full Version : Blood point aggro

I guess this question would be aimed towards, tanks and rogues regarding the recent threat increase toward siphon. As a rogue I was considering getting a blood point for my offhand to make my character a little more self sufficient. I generally can keep myself from pulling aggro and this would top me off from DS riposte, AE, etc. The recent patch notes made me a bit worried that using a BP offhand might give me the opposite effect of what I was going for.

If you are a rogue have you noticed an increase in threat generated from siphon? If so is it manageable.

Same question if your a tank.

Thanks!

I use crystalline spear mainhand and blood point offhand. Since the patch, I somewhat reliably pull aggro if i get a double or triple proc (within 1-2 combat rounds) in the first half of a mobs health. I can usually evade this aggro off as long as the tank hasn't switched targets.

Most of my leveling is done w/ a monk using tranq staff, warrior using ringed mace + BoBDE, a SK w/ rod of mourning or something similar which can generate a TON of aggro, so I'm sure that's mitigating it.

I suspect i would have aggro issues w/ an undergeared MT.

I don't have a Blood Point, but I know that the recent aggro "upgrade" on BotBDE wasn't much at all.

Preciate the input, I'm seriously considering getting one and just trying to be especially careful in groups. I spend most of my time in Seb currently till I decide on a guild, a large majority of the tanks in seb are pretty well geared. I guess at this point its between a BP and CSS. I guess being a proc rogue will always have its risk.

Yup, too much aggro. Sell it. Cheap. To me. :)

As a general rule, don't be a proc rogue. I will likely switch out my bloodpoint for a seb croaking dirk in the near future for everything but utility use.

That pretty much sums it up, thanks for the input. Prolly just shoot for a CSS then till I can afford a seb dirk.

"Don't use weapons with procs" is a bad suggestion. BotBDE is still the best Rogue offhand in the game. The extra aggro added in the patch is negligible.

The only Rogue weapon that I have problems out-aggroing is Locustlure.

Aye, No reason to put up that bbobde.

As a rogue you should be constantly evading whenever hide is up... not only when you get aggro.

Maybe without procing weapons, Think of it like taunt, or what it used to be lol.

Ok so a rog would be wrong to use a bp and a bbobde, but with high aggro proc weapons i wouldnt be evading constantly, unless after a proc.

Then again, If you were evading from the start you shouldnt have problems.

But i would wait a few moments into the fight to start evading, incase you get a off the bat proc.

Currently using a Crystalline spear / Bloodpoint combo and am not having many issues with agro at all. As with any proc weapon, you really need to aware of proc's very early in the fight. If you fail evade, its nothing counterattack shouldn't be able to take care of.

This. At 56 my opening attack has a potential of 820BS + 148 primary + 100ish offhand + 85 proc (assuming single proc). for a potential 1,100 + bonus proc aggro. This combined with an evade fail happens rarely enough that it's usually covered by rip or nimble if it happens in the first 2 rounds of attack before the MT has procced a stun or something.

At 60 w/ ragebringer damage backstabs and a VP offhand, this will get a bit more dangerous aggro wise, but for now it's manageable.

Yea, I used a burning rapier for a while and generally treated procs with it the same way. I saved evade early on in case of a single/double proc, if those didnt happen I'd just start evading for most of the fight. Think I might test the waters and look for one, I duo with a bard and necro friend occasionally so I think the added hp from siphon could help out. Shouldn't have to worry about aggro with those two classes at least.

If you're standing at max melee range and have any kind of a decent tank, you shouldn't be pulling aggro. You should be evading often, if not every time hide pops, then pretty close.
