Hello All!
I was wondering if the Enchanter class on this server was like the original class where they were the main source for crowd control?

I have NEVER had as much fun in a game as I did mez'ing everything that came with my original enchanter.

Thanks,
WearBard

Not a troll at all Baalzy. Did just join today and browsing around to get info and decide what class I'd like to go back to. Three or four of us are probably coming to the server this or next week!

Yes pretty much the same as it was.

Well, welcome to the game :) Hope ya'll enjoy it.

There have been some recent changes to charm that people are disliking. Your group function should overall be the same though.

chanters are extremely similar to live. Charm was fixed to be much more live like, so if you're new here, you'll be just fine ;)

I think that you'll be pleased. I played an enchanter starting in Jan of 2000. The only issue which I found on this server was that low level charm was completely useless especially when compared to how live was. I was soloing a LOT of stuff on live at around 16 or so.. When I tried any of it here, I died repeatedly. Charm was dropping MUCH too easily and frequently. I used to solo the Griffs and beetles in North Karana for example using charm exclusively. When I tried it on this server charm held for about 6 seconds, maybe 12 at the most... repeatedly. After a few deaths, I concluded that it was time to read up here in the forums. I posted my observations into the bug section and was told (essentially) that charm was working as intended and that nothing would be done to fix it. I read that at 39, charm was completely a viable option and that until then, if soloing one had to use the animation pet. Not ideal but I did what I had to.
It's possible that this has since been addressed in a recent patch but I don't know as I haven't bothered to try charm again and obviously can't evaluate how well it works at around lvl 16 any more.
If you loved playing an enchanter on live, roll one up and give it a shot. I think you'll find it to be pretty much exactly as you remember it (minus the afore mentioned charm).
I prefer to group anyway but soloing with charm was a lot of fun when I wanted to (on live).
