I've been playing on Green for a couple months now. I last played Friday 01-17-2020. I left my character afk and forgot to log him out. I work weekends and out of town. When I came home on Tuesday and went to play him, I saw he was logged out. I tried to log him back in and got this:
"One or more of your Everquest Files are not in the correct Titanium version for Project 1999. You will not be able to play until the files in red are replaced with the correct versions.
Click this link for more information.
"spells_us.txt (731221104)"
When I clicked the link I got to an expired page. I re-booted the computer and tried again and got the same error. I went into the program and removed the file (to my desktop) and tried restarting the game--no dice.
I saw that this was an issue back in October (after doing an online search). Are others having this problem lately? What is the fix for this?
TIA,
Pacus

You just need to patch your everquest folder. there was a recent patch v53

https://www.project1999.com/files/P99Files53.zip
download that and place the files into your P99 EQ folder overwriting everything.

I just used those files to patch and now I'm getting "Error in your GUI XML files. Check UIErrors.txt." which only says "UIErrorLog created at Sun Jan 05 01:58:49 2020"

Choklar , make sure you drag and replace each indiviual file instead of the whole folders. like select all the files themselves and choose replace. if you dont do this sometimes things can get wonky if you try to drag and replace the folders instead

Hey, jacobar. Thank you! That worked! Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I got busy with work/school and finally got time to sit down and fix the files as you suggested. Worked great! Thanks again!

I'm still having this issue. I've updated to v53. Moved each file over one by one etc. Still can't log in. Get the same spells_us.txt (731221104) error. Has anyone come up with a solution yet?

the other time it happens when ur antivirus program eats the dsetup.dll file. mark the file as "safe" in your antivirus program, and then replace it from the patch files

Happening to me as well ever since updating the patch - a clean Titanium install, along with a piece-by-piece patching of an older update (v 46) got me back to normal, but of course I can't play while outdated.
Tried the same with v 53 and I get that same spells_us error mentioned here. I figured I'd wait for the next patch to see if that fixed it?

This happened to me after I loaded EQ EMU (EQ emulator). For some reason, EQ EMU moved my spell_us.txt file to a backup folder and replaced the same file with one that doesn't work. I copied the old file, which was under the EQ EMU folder, back into my game folder and it worked again.
Just as a test, I tried running EQ EMU again and it did the same thing all over again.
any HELP?

Ran into this error as well. Tried re-adding most recent patch files to no avail. Extracted ONLY the spells_us.txt file from patch file to EQ directory and that did the trick. It reset all of my settings but I was able to successfully login without running into the error. Hope this helps!
Edit: Well shit.. Only able to log onto green. Still get the same error when trying to log into Blue.

I'm not sure if this will work 100% but I log in fine on red/blue/green with it.
It's a cloud version of the latest spells_us.txt
If you're looking at a more recent patch after this has been posted, its not going to work <3 (we're on Patch V53)

Try logging into red, it should be on the same version of spells... if it works there then there's something odd going on.

Same, it's the spells_us.txt file preventing me from patching. I can't get in either. Please advise.

The only file you need to update is spells_us.txt. every other file in the zip is already identical. After comparing each file in the .zip with my installation directory and finding them the exact same, I replaced that one file and everything is good to go.

download that file and place it in your p99 dir overwriting the files (unless you are on apple and you need to do something else)

I don't usually quote people, or post much for that matter but I cam here and did BOTH because I had this same issue ...and, I followed the white rabbit - found out what to do and I'm up and running. Sorry. I dunno where my original post is, so I'll apologize again for making a mess around here but ty for the help.

Just did a fresh install of Titanium. And downloaded the 'patch'. Getting this error. Deleted that folder, started over. Fresh install of Titanium. Used the file link in this thread. Same error.

You'll want to make sure you are getting the latest patch files from the front page link

Haven't played P99 in a long while. Just tried to update the files but getting this same error. Using the P99Files57.zip file (latest on the front page) and have tried numerous times to extract the files into the Titanium folder and also to copy manually the specific spells_us.txt file but I get the same error regardless that the file needs to be updated?
The file in my Titanium directory is the same file as what is in the zip file. Same modified date. Same file size. Anyone know a fix for this?
*edit* nm. I fixed this I guess. A bit perplexed but I seem to have 2 Titanium installation folders on my game directory. No memory of why that might be.

I am having the same issue, did you ever resolve this?

If you patch with latest files from p99 setup instructions and still have problems, a couple things to try:
Right-click downloaded file > properties, check "unblock" if present.
Now open the downloaded file, select all files with crrl+a, then and hit crrl+c to copy. Go to p99 EQ install folder and hit ctrl+p and choose replace all.
Never "move" files when updating because moving files keeps the permissions of the parent folder they were moved from whereas copying files makes the copied files inherit file permissions of the folder they're copied to.
